- The Empire plays a lot better than before 5.0 but there's still two Legendary Lords that could get much better campaigns then they currently have.

00:00 - Markus
16:10 - Volkmar
30:29 - Books of Nagash - Hry
One of Markus Wulfhart's skills:
"Master Survivalist"
"The dense, dark forest of Middenland is the most unforgiving, inhospitable of training grounds, and the place where Wulfhart perfected his skills."
The entirety of the Empire is Unpleasant climate to him. The guy can't even survive his own home town.
lmao great point
The basic huntsmen get combat benefits for spearmen and greatswords, that Markus himself doesn't get for some reason.
His use abilities that almost never work are just too strong /s
Markus Wulfhart hunting rogue armies or rogue pirates would be a pretty cool niche.
I feel like Wulfhart was done really dirty in his "Rivalry" with Nakai. He's not the kinda guy to go treasure hunting. Should have been Markus Vs Taurox I feel like :(
Hostility is just...so harsh.
"Enemy leadership: +10
Enemy weapon strength: +25%
Public order: -5 (all provinces)"
This is insane and really punishing.
i think the edits to do are:
- markus: make elector count state troops be sent more frequently to get more variety (and perhaps in groups of 2)
- volkmar: add the elector count state troops techs from elspeth and balthasar to him, and make the book of nagash "filling bar" getting buffs for them (as they do on last stages), the order of elector count state troops from book of nagash is put pretty much randomly
the rest is fine to me
SHORT?!?!
Volkmar's experience will most likely be improved once the one and only bone daddy will be added in the game. Both because his new victory conditions will likely involved taking Nagash down (Kairos feel a placeholder objective, honestly), and because the Books of Nagash mechanic will 100% be reworked.
In the meantime, i think switching the "Destroy Kairos" objective to "Destroy Arkhan" would lead to a more fun campaign, as you fight a closer, more lore related enemy in a suitable climate.
A weird thing for me is that I actually love the starting position, one of my favourite is Settra's first 15 turns, because it does feel like a challange! And I also enjoyed Volkmar who snowballed into an insane powerhouse past turn 20 when I think I just axed Skarbrand. However I agree that 100% that the books of Nagash are a dull mechanic, the game simply doesn't lend itself well to fetch quests. And I also agree with the victory conditions, in my volkmar playthroughs I usually just ignored them.
I had a lot of fun with the Markus campaign actually, getting free units early is really nice touch. Also huntsman generals getting extra lvls makes them extremely useful emergency lords especially with tough trait so they have some melee potential. Do think the heroes need some special abilities in their skill line to set them apart.
You should cover Bretonnia, Louen is a rough campaign, and so is the rest of em. However, Repanse is fun, just SUPER hard which I really enjoyed, it was a very difficult 75 turns, after which I finally stabilized.
I’ve been playing Warhammer for a long time but only recently have I fallen in love with Bretonnia. They definitely need some help, but I genuinely love how they play now. They feel rewarding to me ig
I liked parts of Volkmars remake. It does need some polish around the edges but “Mere Mortal Men” is a cool gimmick. Huntsmen general does need buffs.
Wolfheart needs better quests like Malus Darkblade does
Markus is just for lizard hunting. Nice for a change but doesn’t need to be reworked. Think he gets better with more dlc but don’t think he needs to compete with the best in the empire
If I can't make a primarily flaggelants based army of Vulkmar, then what's the point. He should be able to buff them a lot more
Good vid. And. Agreed!👌
The philosophical q. is; is this the cliche dlc/ rework power creep or is it actually design flaws? Not any excuse by any stretch of the imagination, but Credits where credits due. So what is it I Wonder. And could the markus problem indeed be solved by start pos.?
No change to Markus Wulfhart will make me play him if he can't engage in diplomacy with the Lizardmen.
If the Dwarves can be allies with the WE and the DE can ally with the HE, there is no reason why Wulfhart and the Lizardmen can't patch things up.
Being forced to eliminate the WE as Karl and Elspeth is bad enough :/
I've never had problems with WE in either of those campaigns, make nice friends who help secure my border
Me neither, until 5.0. The new imperial authority system requires you to own all of the Empire to get the economic buffs linked to it.
So if you want the full benefits you have to slaughter Laurelorn and Drycha, even though their forests are uninhabitable.
Shouldn't Markus be a horde though?
I think we’re just going to have to accept the fact that at the end of this game’s development, some legendary lords are just going to be inferior, at least in vanilla
Wulfhart is a very strong campaign for me anyways on legendary, I seem to struggle with the new campaigns on legendary tho
