Just a little change would go a long way for Franz. Let him get a state troop in his pool for returning a region to an elector.
Personally I like playing Franz tall rather than wide, it feels the best being a diplomat building these alliances and coming to the rescue but the game wants you to take everything over personally..
Imo my gelt campaing was the most fun, having powerfull wizards with low Winds of magic cost spells is awesome.
Once you get the research Emperor of the Empire, you can use Unify every time you hit 2500 points and you expand super fast because it doesn't matter if they like you, you they just join, it was by far my fastest long victory. I just defended and helped the other Empire factions until I could confederate them.
Also, the Nuln Ironsides are by far the best infantry in the game, early on they are great, but once they are fully upgraded, they just delete things, getting the 3 points in the red line early, and a couple of engineers(hero/lord) with Hochland Scopes supported by cannons or rockets to pull enemies into your ranks of Nuln Ironsides. Hochland Longrifles are really good as support also.
Yes, and they are good enough in melee that they can manage a skaven ambush.
@@SloulDesTucs I just play them like fall of the samurai mowing down shogun forces with Imperial Infantry.
Franz is kinda insane.
He gets +10% movement on all armies after taking over Hochland (which is always one of the first since you get it when wiping Festus) and an additional +10% movement for all characters (I don't know if this is still bugged, or if it was a bug even, but it did count towards all heroes and lords and was the only actual % increase, all the others just add a flat number of movement points).
Combined with his inherent +10%, Empire having access to 3 movement enhancing ancillaries (Scribe, Messanger and Kislevite Kossar) and the new Engineer hero we're looking at some fast armies.
being control of the entirety of the empire, you can use send aid to spawn YOURSELF an emergency, free army, too. Can be helpful and the army can expand and capture undefended towns.
Costin, my dude, Gelt's wizard are everything but unlimited, you put ressource points to have them, and each time the cost increase, so, big losses are actually big losses.
Even more if they didn't reach immortal.
The magic school buildings are actually extremelly potent, because they add even more wizards that you can recruit AND levels for your starting wizards.
They do start with movements, but you CANNOT select traits for them, which is a huge downside.
Elspeth may not be able to do damage to duel top melee fighters but thats what Bruckner is for. If he tag teams with Elspeth they can kill damn near anyone. Not to mention Nuln gets Bruckners quest on turn 2 unlike other empire factions who have to lvl to rank 11
Came back after a long time away w Elspeth & its been a blast. How is Marcus these days? Still in need of a rework? As an expeditionary force getting periodic reinforcments, he always seemed like he was 1 good mod away from being amazing. Like being able to take mercenaries from another faction or something as a reinforcement option. Really extend the motley crew vibe beyond the heros to the men too
started a Karl campaign after the update, 7 elector counts destroyed by turn 15
Karl is still a hard campaign, but right now you have all the tools to save and remake the empire.
You beat gelt with human player using an overwhelming economy with skaven strategy of overwhelming numbers and target key settlements in the beginning of the war when you can
"We outnumber you 20 to 1!"
Gelt: "It's an even fight then."
I wouldn't recommend karl to new players. it doesn't encourage taking territory by force. a new player won't realize this. dwarves are better for this. high elves even more so.
Im not to concerned with the climate. You can control all of the empire and bretonnia. Once i get all of those im bored.
