Fantastic! I'd love to see how you texture this model.
I second this
Take my like, I'd like to see that too!
@@qhscc he's done it already, nvm haha
Such a great sculpt with few starting blocks, going to try this for myself. Seeing how this is textured will be good too.
Blender is getting so many updates this year alone, it's amazing!!
I really wanted to thank you Grant for taking all the time into teaching and sharing your knowledge! I have watched a lot of your videos these last few months, I even bought your character course and had a blast with it, and I learned a lot! Thank you ! Saved this video for later too!
good to hear :)
Honestly this is probably one if not the best sculpting tutorials to follow along with. Not only do you get to slowly build a project & gains some sense of navigation but also are provided great detailed tips for each step!
Thanks a million Grant! 🙏🏼
Great tutorial, I love that you explain repeatedly which tools/hotkeys you use, it makes it so easy to follow along and learn very fast.
Grant thanks for posting another fantastic tutorial. This answered a bunch of questions that just came up in my own project. As a beginner, I really appreciate the pace and scale of your tutorials. Your skill as a teacher and and ability to create accessible content for someone with a beginner's knowledge is remarkable.
OH my god he is so cute! I'll be getting my first drawing tablet in the near future and can finally start following along with your sculpting series. Keep the sculpts coming Grant!
Thanks for posting. I learn a LOT each time I watch any of your videos.
You are my hero, Grant. I Hope this serie continue 🎈
Yesss! Thank you for teaching this, its exactly the kind of stuff I wanna learn! I will tag you on socials when I post my work!
I used to avoid sculpting like fire when i was less expirienced
Now it's my favorite part of creating
You make it look so easy. I like your calm soothing voice, like a Bob Ross of sculpting. I get blocked all the time I am always scared of doing something wrong. I used to sculpt with real clay, this is a new world for me :)
You are the best teacher . Teaching us really good loved your work sir keep it up and God bless you .
Really love the sculpting videos,
Make more of them
Saved it for later, thanks! Great tutorial, great tutorials overall.. Doing my first steps in 3D and loving it. Going over your past content-
which is a gold mine :)
And yes a "shout" we want the "how the hell you got that texture done" :)
Just beginning to break into sculpting in Blender, and your tutorials have been informative and enjoyable. Also, looove the wizard gnome!
Perfect as usual!
Hello! Can‘t wait to check out Blender 2.9!
Amazing tutorial Grant!
Very good video, Grant! Learn alot from this and other vids from you. Please keep it up! Taking notes :)
Brilliant and truly inspiring to watch you, Grant. As a founding member of a SW company called "Corel," I can promise you that your presentation skills would have deemed you one of the perfect employees. Your ability to speak of your modeling and at the same time as you made slight errors show that your not a 'Robot'. I was pleasantly surprised to hear and see you correct yourself as you went along for what is a simple but fine rendition of a 15th to 18th-century Wizard. I will take my hat off to you Grant Abbitt and join you on your ride with Blender. Cheers Mate...
Very educative, thank you for sharing that :)
Thank you very much for tutorials.
Dyntopo turns itself off because of UV maps (which is vertex data). Since Blender as of 2.8 creates UV maps for objects automatically, generally all objects now have them. One way to avoid that dyntopo on/off stuff is to remove UV maps from object (click minus sign in the Object data tab > UV maps rollout).
Also shortcut to enable dyntopo in Sculpt mode is Ctrl+D
This model looks pretty epic.
It is quality content i was looking for. You teach like Bob Ross.
Muchas gracias por todos los tutoriales que nos regalas
Actually Bob Ross of Blender,Thank you very much Grant!
Amazing! Thank you!
Really clever design
This was great! I really enjoy your cartoon stylised sculpts! And please make a texturing video! That'd be great!
Had a lot of fun with my own little grumpy dwarf & my new XP-Pen deco Pro!! Thanks!!
Great to hear!
Followed in Sculpt GL - turned out alright - finished it today
i love this guy , he is so cool
Great work thank you
Amazing😍
Very Cool!! Thanks!
thank you grant!
Great channel!
Fantastic...
I like it
Thank you!
Thumbs up ! i learnt something new
that's why I accompany you, you explain very well! I'm always watching your videos because I have a very good idea for developing a game. I'm trying to use the Godot engine and I want to model in blender.
é por isso que te acompanho, você explica muito bem! estou sempre vendo os seus vídeos pois tenho uma ideia muito boa para desenvolvimento de um jogo. estou tentando usar o engine Godot e quero modelar no blender.
Wow 😍
i Love it. The style is very nice, maybe you can do more with this artstyle ? Great video as usually :)
Love the content, thank you for making these videos. I would love to see how to texture this, as although I do want to 3D print my Sculpts I also want them to be assets later that I can import into other things like possibly Nvidias new Omniverse Machinima tool. .
Your voice is relaxing
super helpfull !
Thank you for the lesson!
(I just couldn't switch objects in tablet mode)
Fun. Icospheres build up the poly count seemingly quicker than the subdivision modifier.
Damn, you must be a wizard for your mastery in 3D model and sculpting!
"Follow along with me making a cat sculpt
"
Strangest cat I have ever seen!
forgot to change the description :)
but you can't deny it's a cute cat 😃
EPIC.
I was head of T&D in a comoany for 5 years. I always told the trainers, that a great trainer is someone who can make complex things look simple, and using simple elements - create something complex. I strongly recommend watching everything on this channel! If you have poor skills, you will become good. If you're already good, you'll become great! Watch first, and practice on the second watch - you won't regret it😉 Good luck!
many thanks :)
thanks for this, my first modeling is a nice gnome wih a very funny hat xD
Thanks Mr. Abbitt :D
I just wanted to sculpt something and my sculpting skills are so 4.5 / 10 and I want to improve my skills :D
btw. Sorry for my bad English
You could make the "Ctrl+Tab" Pie Menu to be the default "Tab" in Blender 2.8+
go to Edit>Preferences>Keymap and click the "Tab for Pie Menu" checkbox
You have to paint before you smooth, That was a huge tip!
this actually turned out great! can you please do the textures as well?
Damm this is awesome..
Outstanding sculpt 😍😍 Texture video please.....
Amazing sculpt! Going to do it today or tomorrow :) Sculpt Idea: Dragon Head or the wizard head from Harry Potter ( the speaking one :D)
I love this guy, really great idea Grant:-) Oh, but why not using the voxel remesher?
Thanks :) Yeah i still prefer to use dyntopo most of the time :)
@@grabbitt Ok I see... seems like it will be removed but I'd also appreciate to keep it, but improved in way 3DCoat has it or Zbrush with sculptris pro feature. I would love to have a vertex remesher that works just for face sets or masks and keeps the rest of the mesh as is.
Two great guys of the blender community. Nice to see the respect you guys give each other compared to rapers/singers or ghetto duels where it's always foul words and fight.
@@grabbitt Can i ask you something? in 3:31 you mirrored the shape on hat but how you do that? Im still newbie
You all prolly dont care at all but does anybody know of a method to get back into an instagram account??
I somehow forgot my account password. I would appreciate any assistance you can offer me.
Love that one !
Its hard for me to learn when to use different brush strength.
Sometimes I widdle around forever and nothing happens and sometimes its way to much ^^ getting the fine tune is important :) !
Definitely would love to see the texturing, Please do!
Already done🙂
@@grabbitt ❤😭
Please do a vid on the textures. Im most impressed with the skin. looks great!
you can grab the side of that panel and pull it out
Woooooow
nice
Could not post due to network issues, but, HAPPY TEACHERS' DAY for teaching us !!!
😊
@@sirtatinho983 What is a teachers day?
@@ronsn8071 teachers' day , as celebrated in India on 5 September is actually the bday of a great teachers......so we kind of honour him by celebrating this day and show respect to our teachers
@@tusharbhattacharya2814 We don't have such a day here. But isn't that stupid to honor someone who has to be honored EVERY day and not just one single Day of the year?
What exactly are you doing on a teachers day? And what do other people normally at this day? :)
@@ronsn8071 wish our teachers........
I love it!
But I need to learn how painting the sculting. Will you make a video about painting?
i have several check my playlist
not going to follow the tutorial right away, have some other things more pressing. but wow, I love the cool gnome. can't wait to get into it when I do.
thats cool ill have to true to model my avatar Lemming now lol.. well true
also can you do a sculpt of a young dragon I been trying it on my own but I always mess up at adding the details
nice :)
Awwww cute
Texturing is the thing I struggle the most. It would be great if you can make a video on it
See my playlists
it´s funny to write but THANKS that you make mistakes because it´s better to learn it. only when we know "this mistakes was create because we forget this one"...that´s a better learn effect as always see the "right" things/steps.
would love to see the texturing.
Could you please make a guide about how update blender from 2.8 to 2.9 without resetting preferences.
Awesome video! So fun to follow along!! But sometimes when i ctrl+z to go back (when in sculpt mode) everything turns glitchy, like all the different layers (hat, shoes, etc) and to fix it I have to go each of the layers and add/toggle Dyntopo again since it says that it's not on (but it was clearly on cuz I've been working like that the whole time). Do you know why that happens? It's really annoying :(
Your videos have really inspired and helped me to begin in Blender, thanks :)
¿Do you work from a tablet?
Yes
How do you make sculpt tools names to be shown (as at 8:29 for example)?
This made me realize I need to get better with the crease tool I'm don't use it right also how did you color it?
I'll do a texturing vid soon
And there is a me who try to make a full character from one sphere xd. I learnt a lot in this. And whats the next steps for sculpted characters? Retopo>uv>texturing>rigging>muscle>animation right?
Can you do a workflow video?
Greath tutorial!
I have a workflow tutorial. "How to make objects for games and film"
@@grabbitt thank you.
Please upload video about how to apply texture or colour..?
😀
19:36
Maybe sculpt a magic mushroom that glows from the inside and looks epic.
i'll add that to the list :)
Great tutorial, like all the rest of yours! I have a question: I was unable to select all the objects to set them all to Sculpt mode at once. I had to Alt-left click each object and set it separately. Is there a way to set them all at once?
no it must be seperate
@@grabbitt Thanks! Unfortunate, but saves me from searching around uselessly...
Silly question, what the hot key to bring up that handy object select menu ?
Thanks for the info 🙂
ctrl tab
You add the mirror modifier only on beard and shoes, but how you can make the hat mirror??? At 03:30 please help
ty for hearting comments
no problem :)
I really love your videos! Why did you use Dyntopo rather than Remesh?
they are removing dyntopo soon apparently
can this be done with a mouse or would this be better for me to pull out my graphics tab?
graphics tablet
Did you texture using texture paint or vertex paint? In Blender Cloud, Rain character was textured using vertex painting, when to choose vertex painting over texture painting? Thank you, Grant!
procedural
Great tutorial! :) For some reason Dynotopo keeps turning itself off all the time and I keep sculpting the already existing mesh... annoying. Also, as someone else also wrote, the Simplify brush doesn’t work for me. I have to use the Draw brush to get the resolution/detail. Odd.
I'll have to look more into it
Hello. I really enjoyed watching this process. I am very new to all of this , so everyone please forgive this newbie question. Once you have it the way you want it, ... then what do you do? Paint it in the same program? Once painted,....what do you do with him. He is so awesome. How do you get him out to the real life world? Thank you.
see my video on painting. 3d printing is next
Hi, you are the first person that I see using the simplify brush. What I notice when using that brush is that I can smooth the surface more easily. Is it why it is used?
Partially also for brushes that don't use dyntopo
Grant . Could you please tell if blender will get substance painter like texturing in the near future ?
I reckon that will be on the cards soon but its difficult to say
hi Grant Abbit i completed your course it was a awesome course. But I notice that when I ask questions no one was there to answer those questions
oh. Where did you ask the question? They are usually very good at answering
@@grabbitt In udemy
How did you get everything so smooth in the end? I set the resolution to 70 and it doesn't smooth it out as much as yours does. Also, when I use the smooth brush it takes a way a lot of the model.
right click smooth - in object mode
