Yup. All of those you mentioned are on point - but we are still moving there. My husband and I both have SS benefits and pension but nowadays, with the inflation shooting off the roof we cannot afford to enjoy retirement here in the States and add to that the craziness that's going on here, we're bailing out. We're moving there in 5 weeks and can't wait to start living a laid-back, stress-free and idyllic life in the province. Thankfully, the Lord has blessed us both with good health. Interesting topic my friend, thanks. New subscriber here 🙂

Not too sure about the ambulance comment, " everywhere and zip right to you" Phils doesn't have a nationwide phone number to call like USA 911.
I live in Bacolod with my girl, and we talked about "what if" because I have heart issues, in this barangy they have an "ambulance", it's a van that does not include an EMT, just a driver and only if the "ambulance" is available, sometimes it is under maintenance for weeks, or the "driver" not available. If you have a serious accident and break a bunch of bones or need repertory assist, not happening, not radio ahead, don't expect pain relief from the "van" driver as he loads you up and rushes you off...

The last couple of times, we flew Air Nuigini from Brisbane stopover in Port Moresby (PNG) then on to Manila. It's a full day, then of course you have to get to the island you are staying at, ours was San Carlos, Neg Occ. another good half day of travel. Cheers mate.

I agree that having a complete physical before you come to the Philippines is very important and then work on the issues to improve your health. I would also go to the best clinic in your area and establish a relationship with a specialist if you have say a heart condition. Better to have a good specialist familiar with you before there are issues. It also allows you to get familiar with the medical system, etc. great video. Thanks and keep them coming.

Philippines is made for Filipinos and America is made for Americans. Each of us has our own habitats. It is really hard to adjust in one place that you didn't use to live. Like me, I married to an American. When I first came here in the US, I felt homesick because I had no one to talk to when my husband is at work. The food I ate are all frozen and processed food which I didn't use to eat. I used to eat fresh food in the Philippines as alive fish, prawns and even vegetables and fruits. But I cannot complain. I chose to go with my husband because I love him very much and I need to adjust in order to work everything out including the culture.Yes, everything here in the US is comfortable because everything you need is here. But the simplicity of life, living in an affordable life and stress free is hard to find here in the US. Everything is expensive in the US right now. Including the taxes, hospital bills, and even the doctor's check up. And most of all, most of the people here are living in debt. You cannot live here in the US without debt.

I know from experience, spending 1 week in Chong Hua, wait to get into emergency room over 1 hour, and my wife had to pay P150,000 before I could get in! Will we lose our Canadian citizenship, and O.H.I.P. benefits if we live outside Canada for over 6 months every year?
Could we possibly live abroad for over 6 months every year? If, yes...will my Canada pension, and O.A.S. pension, and income taxes be affected?
Is there something that you feel we should know about retiring abroad for a period of 6 months every year or over?
What are the penalties for living outside Canada ?

Thankyou for your interest in this topic, I must decline from attempting a complete answer...this is as close as I can come to an answer...your citizenship pet say is not directly affected, however your inclusion to the Canadian health care system may be effected, also there will result some loss of retirement benefit if you do not revisit Canada often enough to maintain full retirement inclusion. To get full and complete answer to your questions you should visit the Canadian govt web pages that cover this subject. Further the requirements to maintain full .medical and retirement benefits should be throughly addressed before considering living overseas beyond 120 days at a time.

I've had lots of awful experiences with american hospitals but here medical care is way less expensive than insurances in the west. But the system is different. You have to have some emergency cash on hand and family able to purchase pharmaceuticals many of which are not provided with hospitalization. I'm an Ex pat permanent resident RP for a decade. There are plenty of reasons not to live here but (with the exception of noise and unhealthy food) you missed the mark.
