An embarrassment of riches in nature! You did a great job of capturing everything!
I have to admit that I usually fast-forward through most CZcams posts, except for your channel; well done!
Wow thanks. I’m honoured. Appreciate your time.
FOMO gets us all at some point, but that image at 4:34 makes it all worth while, it's a belter 🥰🙏📷👍🏻
Great job Adam thanks for taking the time .
I have now watched this vlog over 10x times, and I just pushed PLAY to now enjoy it for the 11th time in the last 24x hours.. this is frankly one of the most wonderful vlogs you've produced and I'm 100% here to live vicariously through you and your travels Adam Karnacz.. I just wish we could entice you to come visit Sydney some time in 2024 ;-)
Wow, thank you! I’m honoured and greatly appreciate your time.
well@@Firstmanphotography, the feeling is 100% mutual, stay awesome ;-)
I don't know what is more beautifull , your images or the music !
Dan Phillipson is the composer.
Being from a tropical place, coming across a place like that with those conditions would be so rad! I wish I took more advantage of my time in the snow.
I know that feeling. I try hard not to take any of this for granted.
More of the lone trees. You're killing' me, Smalls.
The wonderful chaos of the creative mind. You did well, mate.
Ha. Very true. Although I find it frustrating at times as I’m not like that in many other areas of my life.
You are amazing! It’s always a joy to watch your videos. What a perfect day you had and many of your images were spectacular! Your knowledge and patience really paid off!! Thanks for taking me along!
Wow!! Thanks so much Randy.......my ego enjoyed your comment very much.
I'm so jealous! Where I live (southern Australia), we don't generally get snow - I'd have to travel to another state to see any. Your photos were gorgeous. Thanks for taking me on your fun adventure.
Thanks mate
Your channel and education deserve more love from CZcams. You always inspire me, Adam!
I appreciate that! And agree!!
@@Firstmanphotography I honestly expected over 1 million subscriber by now given how many videos you have shared so far, and most importantly, the value of the lessons you have consistently presented. It’s mind-boggling for me to be frank. I wonder if there’s a way or a strategy that could shift things up a notch.
Absolutely gorgeous photos. If we got snow and frost more often you probably wouldn’t feel as frantic, but we feel we have to make the most of a rare event
Yes! That’s exactly it.
thanks Adam, I've never seen it with so much snow looks beautiful, my favourite image was at 4:31, though my preference would be a tighter crop cutting out the sky which I found distracting and concentrating on the fabulous trees/light
I see 100% success just being there. I would have loved standing in your shoes. A photo would be bonus and you scored in bonus points. Nature is big and powerful. I love being in those dynamic conditions letting Nature flow around me while I aim my camera. The elements around me mixing together far outside of my control.
Thanks Jennifer, like I said…….it felt like a privilege.
Adam, thank you for what you do in creating these videos. Most of us viewers, likely, can’t appreciate the time and effort that must go into the production of a video. I appreciate the balance of photography, personal insights, emotions, feelings, and subtle humor that you include. This must have been a great day to be in the woods, and I can also appreciate the frustration of wanting to capture every scene, and watching them slip away. I’m learning to try and not chase a scene, but rather let them develop in front of me. Equally as frustrating to see other scenes go by, but a bit more relaxing, and purposeful. Great job, keep up the excellent work!😊
Thanks so much. It is a lot of work but worth it when I receive such great comments. Appreciate it.
That last shot, for me, is the best. It's a great image that looks like it's out of the late 1950s with that structure. Cheers, Adam
Thanks Andy. The fog and the snow made it too much of an opportunity to pass on.
Fantastic production with amazing results, never seen Cod Beck look so beautiful
Thanks Adam for taking us on that journey Wow what a great day you had and the location was magical as were your images. Great to see you back enjoying what you love.
Hi Adam: Wow . . . what a winter wonderland . . . and that is coming from a Canadian. The conditions you experienced on this day were incredible, and the images you created were equally incredible. Lots of portfolio contenders for sure. Keep well. . . Keith
Thanks Keith. Very kind
Adam, again, you have brought the reality to us, sharing that the treasures you collect come at a cost. Thank you.
Thanks Don
Oh wow Adam... what an amazing scene !!! Your enthusiasm inspires me.
Thanks Robert
It’s times like that first image, where you’re camped up on a composition, that I’d love a second camera body and lens to just shoot hand held scenes whilst I wait for that good light.
Yeah that would be nice. Think I’d need an assistant to carry it all though.
@@Firstmanphotography ha ha indeed. It’s a little different when you’re filling a CZcams video as well. I love the shots over the water. Great work
The black-and-whites are spectacular! Congrats, Adam!
Funnily enough, they are full colour captures. It's just how the scene looked.
Hey Adam nice to see snow in the UK. We got about 8 inches the other day. Winter is here. All the best from Canada.
Lovely. Hope you get a chance to make some pictures.
WOW - thank you for taking us with and sharing !! Have a great holiday season and a healthy 2024 with tons of great light!
Spectacular conditions, and fantastic photos!
Many thanks!
I've too often been faced with the same "scatter brain" phenomena as you experienced here, where the conditions just explode and everything around seems like a total banger of a composition, and yet can't find anything to shoot LOL! You did a splendid job here regardless, and I must say I'm envious of the conditions you got! Keep on cracking!
BTW, my voice may have a difficult time being heard in your analytics as CZcams has now fully blocked me due to my use of an ad blocker (YT is TOTALLY unwatchable with the torrent of ads they now spew in EACH video), so I'm watching content via browser "private" windows. For anyone getting the warning, this is the workaround to keep watching without being drowned in ads, or being forced to pay YT.
the 1st image you showed was a stunner....well done!
Thanks you so much.
Absolutely stunning images Adam. What a treat
Thanks Andy. Appreciate you watching.
I've experienced that feeling once when on a photo outing (over a couple of days time, but only that one occurrence). The other times I've enjoyed myself to varying degrees, but that one time I felt legit. Looking back on the images, they ranged from ...OK... to 'meh', but I had fun in the process. It seems like all the other times I'm constantly "setting the bar" so ridiculously high, vastly above my potential, that I always feel like I fail. But that one time was fun.
Adam, you nailed it... Well done. Great images.
Thanks Paul. Very kind.
Great video again Adam, looking at them makes me feel i'm on you're shoulder there with you!
Very well said about landscape photography at the end of your video you really inspire me with your amazing photos and words I am from Kamloops B.C Canada I go out every day to take photos I go to bed at 630 pm and wake up at 1 am then head out before I start work I find it's really helps me start my day every time I go out.
Beautiful images. You should trust yourself, though in such exciting conditions hard to stay focused
When you get a plan of what you'd like to photograph, is it more important that your plan meets how the photos mirror how you feel about the location or that the conditions allow for the best possible image? Personal view vs. salability?
Beautiful!
Thank you David.
I agree….”being creative, is good for your mental well being”, I don’t get enough creative time lately as I have changed jobs, and with that I work more hours…. Hoping to change that with pressing forward… and hoping to launch my own squarespace to build my work….;) I enjoy your videos as always, be well…
Stunning photos Adam thank u for sharing. About the only time I wish we got more snow down south 😂
lovely pics as always Adam, you really should not get yourself worked up, not good for you, just enjoy being out there mate thats all that matters in the end. atb. ho ho ho,
Absolutely beautifully shot so so enjoyed this video , such beauty
Ah, winter. I vaguely remember what that's like. 35 years in SE Asia and precious little really cold weather! Lucky if it drops down below 20C here!
Oh wow! I'd struggle with that, im built for the cold..
@@Firstmanphotography You get used to it! 😂
The enemy of good! Love it! That first pic is so inspiring! I live near the new forest and will be chasing similar conditions to photograph this winter 👌 cheers Adam
Sounds great! I need to explore down there a bit more.
Beautiful
Thank you! Cheers!
Wonderful photos. Your photography never fails to inspire me. Thank you for sharing your skills and passion.
Wow, thank you!
@@Firstmanphotography My pleasure, mate.
Love your work Adam and your willingness to share exactly how you are feeling/acheiving and eventually winning. Great stuff.
Thanks Rod. Really appreciate the comment.
Some cracking images there Adam, especially the second one. Looking forward to your next video...hope the weather is as good!!
Stunning conditions and images! Curious to know how do you predict the foggy conditions?
I am notoriously bad at it. Getting out repeatedly early in the mornings though has helped me catch some good conditions.
Great video ! Please do more!
Amazing condition’s Adam. Was fascinated by that first image 3:00.
One of those that just draws you into the scene. Well done, and well worth printing.
Thanks for sharing again Adam.
Stay safe 🇦🇺
Thanks 👍 Appreciate you watching.
Cracking video Adam, love you’re work and being a local Teesside lad just starting out in photography we are blessed that cod beck, osmotherly and surrounding areas are on our doorstep👍🏼
Wow great video. Somehow this is the first video that I've seen from you. First time that you're videos have come up. I've missed a lot as it looks. You're style of video is simular to what I make myself on my own channel. I realy like it! Gonna follow you along looking forward to see more videos. Grt guido
Thanks mate. I’ll check out your channel too.
Beautiful my friend. 🎉
A fantastic video, love this one👌
Thanks so much
Love your passion Adam, great pictures. I'd love to go here in these conditions but my car won't get up the steep hill in the snow 😊. This is the day after I slept in my car at gribdale to take some snowy night shots. Very cold toes, but worth it the next morning. Same as you though Adam plenty of compositions but struggled.
Loving the commitment to your craft.
Thanks Adam, much appreciated ☺️
Great video and winter conditions ❄️👍🙂
such gorgeous weather!
Incredible!!
Well done Adam, you put it over quite well in what to expect when you are a landscape photographer! It was well worth being here, there, and everywhere and you was rewarded with a picture!
Fantastic conditions, would be a challenge for many people to stay focused, yes surrounded by a head spinning number of opportunities and I think you captured the best of them.
Brilliant work Adam
We've all been there, Adam - feeling like an idiot. I spent *years* tracking down a very specific location -- the highest peak in the Canadian Rockies (Mt. Robson), glaciers dripping off its sides, a perfect mirror reflection with wonderful foreground interest rocks, and that amazing golden close-to-sunset post-thunderstorm light that we dream of, breaking through and bathing the mountain with amber glory ... and where was I? 100 metres from my camera looking for another composition. I literally cried. (I still got a great shot, just not the best shot that I could have had).
Ahhh. it’s painful even to read!! I bet the shot you got is an absolute banger though.
Epic ~ Snow days ☘
Exactly
Great pics Adam, feel your commitment coming through in everything you do. Thank you.
Thanks Bob. Very kind.
Fantastic conditions. I really enjoyed the video and photos, Adam. Thank you.
Really glad you enjoyed it. Thanks for watching
Really beautiful images Adam!! Thank you for taking us along!
Thanks Patty.
enjoyed this lovely shots great video cant wait for the next adventure tnx so much for sharing
Thanks Bryan. Appreciate your time.
Great video Adam and some lovely shots in there. I was in my local woods at the weekend, thinking the snow and fog would make it easy to find compositions, but I really struggled. Its not easy at times, but we have to remind ourselves that every now and then, the stars align and we have amazing mornings like yours in the video. Also, your video reminds me that I need to check out that location. Keep up the good work!!
I find snowy woodlands often difficult to shoot. I think partly because you lose a lot of the textures that often contribute heavily to a good woodland picture.
Beautiful conditions you had there Adam. And with great photos as result 👏🏻👏🏻
Thank you very much. Appreciate your time as always.
Beautiful shots Adam, I knew you were onto a winner that morning.. so glad it lasted until Sunday for me to get out into it! I have a shot I took with a bit of inspo from yourself to post at some point, I’ll give you a tag mate.
Awesome, glad you managed to make it out. Thanks too, i'm enjoying our interactions online.
Excellent video Adam 👏❄️superb weather conditions for landscape photography 👍love all your photos from the session 🤝📸I’m a bit of a perfectionist myself and find it hard missing any photography opportunities out in the field 😊
Thanks mate. Yeah its never easy to just be cool about missing opportunities.
Another great video mate, it looked magical but freezing. As you know, I quite like my astrophotography, but not the cold so much.
Can you recommend any brands of clothing and footwear for cold weather?
Hi mate. Like all the Polish lads you’ve ever come across, layers are the key. I invested in a Marino wool base layer which keeps you warm even once it gets a bit sweaty.
I also now only use Scarpa Boots. They’re not cheap, but they’re the best.
Phenomenal cinematography bud, such a thrilling and beautiful presentation!
Thanks so much.
Smashing vid as usual Adam, thoroughly enjoyed being with you on your day out in the snow and fog,I was thinking that there was a "minimalist shot"of the drystone dyke and the snow and background fog, but maybe another time eh. Stay loose mate👍😎
Thanks John. Yes, i did consider that and should have tried really.
awesome video. It is amazing how many people would get extremely frustrated with what happened to you in the video. I know for me, I just try and get what I can and when i get home, I try and flip through the shots and see if there is something can share. I don't delete anything until someone else sees it as I am my own worst critic.
Adam, another outstanding video there are a few images there which are definitely worth printing. Could I be bold and seek a bit of advice? When you have conditions as you had at the lake and the 2nd tree what camera settings do you choose in order to deal with the bright light and the fact that it is reflecting from every surface?
Thanks Andy. Yes is can be tricky. Generally in bright snowy conditions you'll be exposing a bit quicker than normal. Shooting in manual as opposed to aperture priority is key, as the cameras meter will struggle in those conditions. I deal with the large dynamic range by bracketing the images.
@@Firstmanphotography Adam, thanks for that. My takeaway is in Manual bracket and use a comparatively quick shutter speed. Your videos are inspirational. Thanks again.
Beautiful scenes and photos :) How do you enjoy your new camera?
It's amazing. Just on loan from Canon for a while though.
Adam, I have a technical question. Would a polarizing filter be of use in those bright misty conditions? Can they go too far and remove too much of the mist? Also, did you make efforts to "expose to the right" to avoid blowing out the sunlit sky? Thanks!
Adam, I think your experience as a police officer affects your perception of compositions. You try to look at everything without missing a single detail, which is important on a crime scene, but that habit also causes you to stress that you're going to miss some tiny detail. Having been a cop for 35 years and a landscape photographer to boot, I frequently find myself having the same dilemma. Relax buddy. Have fun.
You might be right. It’s also the pressure of making a video at the same time.
I think you were putting too much pressure on yourself Adam but in the end, your experience and judgement paid off for you as you bagged some beautiful images, especially the one at 10:55 of the tree you scouted in the summer. All in all looked like a fabulous day out for you
Thanks Jim. Yes, I probably was. But only due to a desire to make the most of such beautiful conditions. I think once I realised they were gonna last all day, I chilled out a bit.
Hi man! I always follow your videos but I was wondering: what kind of gloves do u use during winter? Are those from the heat company?
They are just cheap Lowe Alpine gloves. Best I’ve ever had though. Not waterproof but dry quickly and are warm thanks to the fleece. The fold back mittens and thumb hole make them perfect for photography.
Hey Adam. What hiking boots do you recommend?
Scarpa. I wouldn’t use anything else these days. I literally never have a problem with my feet using them.
I watch a lot of CZcams photographers but none of them display the unadulterated joy of photography you have. Nor your vulnerability.
Thanks Ken. I appreciate your comment very much.
Henry Turner channel is worth a watch...especially his scotland vids.
Hey Adam, you say your fear of cows is an irrational fear, but you know... Considering the numbers of people hurt by cows every year I think you don't need to worry, seems perfectly rational to me 😅👍
Exactly! Thanks.
Is this a park or a farm (private land) that you get these images from?
No. It’s mostly open access land.
Note to self: Never lend Adam any equipment 🤣
Ha ha 🤣
These videos are just perfect. We’re so tired of gear vids and educational vids that just talk about camera settings.
This video is good for my soul.
Ha ha. That's fantastic, thanks!!
I don't see any problem with being wary of 1500lb animals :)
Exactly. Me either. I’ve taken some heat for it over the years though.
