    Only thing I hate about tiandi is that they call him a dodge specialist when his dodges can be easily countered with a light or gb. I wish his dodge was as safe as kensei because you try to hit or gb a dodge heavy kensei your attacks will just slip off his body and miss and you get hit instead. I was going to main tiandi but his terrible dodging ruined it for me so I mained jj instead his dodge is slightly better lol

    • @Mattman_90
      @Mattman_90  Před 5 lety +2

      His dodges require serious practice, they can be effective when used properly but despite his speciality I think it refers to the many dodge cancel options Tiandi has access to. I do agree Jiang Jun has better dodges, though that could be down to sifus poise.

      What do you think would be a balanced buff?

    • @Mattman_90
      @Mattman_90  Před 4 lety

      @@Godzmin Tiandi basically has bad offense and a lack of flow regarding chain pressure. I'm going to list some changes found in a mega document on reddit titled "Thornbush Reworks For Honor'.
      Light/Heavy finisher recoveries can now be dodge cancelled.
      Second attack of the zone can also be dodge cancelled.
      Dragon Kick accessible from neutral heavies on whiff and chain heavies on hit/whiff/block.
      Dragon kick confirms forward dodge heavy.
      Dragon Dodge can now be soft feinted into Dragon kick.
      Top Dragon Dodge can now be soft feinted into a dodge.
      Dragon Dodge can no longer be hard feinted.
      Enhanced property added to neutral light openers.
      Sprint attack speed increased to 600ms.
      Dragon Dodge speed increase to 900ms.
      Dodge soft feints from Dragon Dodge cost no stamina.
      Dragon Kick speed increased to 700ms.
      Dragon Kick no longer accessible from Dragon Dodge in hit/block.
      Forward Dragon Dodge speed increase to 700ms.
      Tiger Dodge accessible between 100-500ms.
      Tiger Dodge superior block start up decreased to 0ms.
      Superior Tiger Dodge no longer confirms palm strike.
      That's a lot to take it but in a nutshell Tiandi needs pressure tools. I haven't included everything simply because there's too much and these are the ones I strongly agree with.
      Reduced stamina costs is a must as Tiandi needs to dance around his foes given multiple soft feint options. More dodge options from soft feint make him a dodge specialist. Enhanced lights give easier access to chain attacks, given the ability to dodge 400ms follow ups if the testing grounds changes come, tiandi would have a nice option here being able to tiger dodge people trying to evade a fast chain light.
      Faster Dragon Dodge gives it better i-frames making it more consistent, making it unable to be hard feinted makes it punishable which is necessary given the multiple buffs.
      Dragon kick being more accessible and confirming damage makes it a good option in 1v1 while retaining its CC in 4v4. Being able to do it from a finisher also encourages sustainaned offense instead of constantly being forced into neutral.
      Tiger dodge having better superior block makes it more reliable as a counter and gives Tiandi a choice option should enemies try to interrupt him.

    @avy6153 Před 5 lety +1

    A good trick with Tiandi is doing a heavy after your opponent dodge the palm strike and let it go. Your enemy is waiting for a light or a Tiger Dodge, so the heavy will hit if they try to parry in light timing. Don't overuse it, it won't work 2 times in a row against most opponents. Same goes to the Dragon Kick Soft-Faint into tiger dodge

    • @Mattman_90
      @Mattman_90  Před 5 lety

      Good advice, a similar trick is useful on a whiffed kick with Nobushi, as you said it's all about reading your opponent and conditioning them. Of course I did try to show why using a follow up light with a whiffed palm strike would be a bad idea. Lol.

Unfortunately I don't have a ton of great advice however I've found that it's best practiced on attacks you know can't be feinted and give you time to react, mainly dodge attacks like Kensei's and Peacekeeper's for example. Also top attacks are relatively easy to superior light so long as you practice the timing beforehand. Outside of that it's quite unreliable.

    • @Mattman_90
      @Mattman_90  Před 5 lety

      I would have thought you'd be pleased there's little if not nothing to add to.
      So I looked at your punish option and it is possible, however it is a very niche circumstance and also dangerous unless it confirmed a kill.
      Whichever way you do a light heavy, or heavy light, the stamina cost is the same. Your punish is less damaging at 49 damage and is unsafe as it hits during your opponents wake up, if they regain stamina as they wake up, it's a free guard break for them. You can't even make it safe because your chain would have ended. Which is why you would only do this on a confirmed kill. (Less than 2 bars Hp)
      If you do the punish the instant your stamina starts recharging then you can do the punish at great risk. A second too late and the follow up light attack can be parried and if it is, your stamina would be low enough that you would go out of stamina.
      So whilst I concede that your punish option is technically correct, it is not a viable option, not safe and if punished could get you killed.
      The reason I made a guide on Tiandi was because a subscriber asked me to. I make these videos to help people understand the game better and get more enjoyment out of the characters.
