    Man that thing is seriously old, definitely a Series A1 with the big-ass blower. Sounds absolutely awesome, I love that odd gurgley undertone that the A1 blowers give them!

    @bohrokthunder it sure is, makes it look antique. ripped screen, chipped paint. just glad it sounded healthy.

    @Beauty4Aspies For old sirens such as Thunderbolts, they are AC powered, so its not even possible to put battery backup on them

    Fun Fact: The 1000 At the Woodlawn PD there’s a 1-128 Few Blocks away from Woodlawn’s PD

    @amtrak3501  Před 13 lety +1

    @bohrokthunder it probably wont happen since Hamilton county wants all sirens to have battery backup. this thunderbolt may or may not get a second life. its all up to Werden. i like the name "ol rusty", btw.

  • @amtrak3501
    @amtrak3501  Před 13 lety +1

    @Beauty4Aspies well im sure they could, but since most of their sirens are getting on in their years, im sure they figured upgrade their system as well (im willing to bet they would last many more years as well) pretty soon, they will have T-128's and I Forces

  • @trainz675
    @trainz675 Před 13 lety

    WOOPS, that say we will NOT fix it and they WILL replace it. there isnt any other siren that covers that part, and the other closest siren is a thunderbolt 1000T that fails every month. other than that, no other units, exept a 2001-SRNB thats 3 miles away, that you cant hear.

    @amtrak3501  Před 13 lety

    @truemetalist89 i was told that its possible that the rotator is broken because it was facing south for a few months so hopefully it works fine for you. get the growl too if you can

  • @amtrak3501
    @amtrak3501  Před 13 lety

    @bohrokthunder true, but too bad it'll get replaced sometime this year.

  • @amtrak3501
    @amtrak3501  Před 13 lety

    @bohrokthunder me too, man. at least the guy who takes down these sirens down refurbishes them. when i visited his place, he had a thunderbolt freshly repainted and ready to go. where its going, i dont know.

    The siren is still there in 2023 surviving pretty well

  • @amtrak3501
    @amtrak3501  Před 13 lety +1

    @Beauty4Aspies i know, but Hamilton county wants battery backup sirens, and whatever siren lacks that feature, its gonna be gone :( lot of classic sirens down there.

    theres a siren that my city abandoned a few years back, a TB 1000, and its tilting, nowdays, when theres a storm, it sweays back and forth and moves and turns. its pretty scary. called it in and they said "we will now fix it, and we are replacing it." nice video BTW

  • @amtrak3501
    @amtrak3501  Před 13 lety

  • @amtrak3501
    @amtrak3501  Před 13 lety

    @trainz675 thanks for the comment, they shouldnt abandon a siren when they dont have a replacement for that particular siren's coverage

  • @amtrak3501

    @Beauty4Aspies yes it does, such a shame it will be gone soon

  • @Beauty4Aspies

    @amtrak3501 They could instead give the classic sirens battery back up instead, couldn't they?

    +TrainsAndSirens1 well if you think about it, on a QWERTY keyboard you have O next to P so it was obviously a slight finger slip

    @Oldiesmann Ah sweet, I'll have to go check that out! I actually saw this one while in Cincy not too terribly long ago, which totally caught me off-guard. I knew about it, but I wasn't expecting it to be where we drove by, nor was I expecting it to be THAT low.

  • @kansasstatealerting2874

    Siren is still there

  • @LouisvilleTorn8o
    @LouisvilleTorn8o Před 13 lety

    @amtrak3501 if you ever get down here, and you need help deciding which one to record, please just let me know. There are a lot of good ones to choose from. The best location to get a video is probably at the Water Company, where they have both a 1003 and a Whelen 4004, which are both used, and they are sometimes tested together. The PRP VFD #1 TBolt, now on chopper level 3, is probably the creepiest sounding one in the whole system.

  • @LouisvilleTorn8o
    @LouisvilleTorn8o Před 13 lety

    Hey Amtrak3501, if you ever get down here to Louisville, Kentucky, we still have a bunch of Thunderbolts left. We have one 1003 that I know of, many 1000T's, and one 1000 that I know of. We also have some xT22's, Mods, 2001's, and some privately owned Whelens. Ours are tested on the second Tuesday of every month.

    @truemetalist89 you should aim for a siren that isnt on CZcams yet, if you need a siren location, you can always ask carexpertandy. he knows where all the good sirens are at in Hamilton county. but if you want to film this siren anyway, you can do that too
