- There were a lot of things I loved about living in California, but there were also a lot of aspects about living there that I didn't enjoy. Here are a few of the main reasons why I left California to move to Lisbon, Portugal.

I'm originally from CA, moved to TX few years ago... if you think CA roads are shit you should come to Texas. You need a 4wd to navigate the roads here.. no wonder everyone in TX drives gigantic trucks
I'm in California, San Diego specifically. I completely agree with your assessments.... this state is run so terribly, but the people keep voting the same people in that are making it even worse :(. I can barely afford to live here. Hoping to move to Portugual in a year or 2 if things work out.

I understand why you left California and it’s tooo expensive to live. I’ve seen basic houses either in LA, San Diego, San Fransisco and they can be $1 million. It’s really ridiculous. I know I’m from Atlanta (the old Atlanta) and it’s not as high as California or NYC, but it has gotten outrageous to live there now. And I definitely agree on leaving the US because of the racial violence. It’s getting to real in the US for me.
Absolutely. And it’s not just the housing prices, everything is more expensive in California. Insurance, food, gas, you name it. I’m sorry but I’m not paying $2 million, all cash, for a 2-3 bedroom, 1 bathroom tiny house that isn’t even my dream home. There are some good things about California and the US, but it’s unfortunately not a place where BIPOC can live freely without fear.

There are things going on in the US that make it hard for us to believe could still happen in the 21st century. We don't have racial violence. Our cops are really good guys in the movie and help good people regardless of their color, race or religion. We are a peaceful and minimalist people. Our weakness is football (soccer) we are fanatics is almost a religion. Be happy. Peace and LOVE.😊👍

@@BlackMomRainbowLife Dive deeply into our culture and your integration will be much faster. The atmosphere at football is amazing and can be seen by the whole family because it's safe. Try to understand the rules by watching some videos on youtube that your child will like. Listen to Portuguese music and watch news on TV in Portuguese that you will see that your ear will start to understand some Portuguese words. It is not easy but with patience and persistence you will be able to understand more and more. Enjoy the portuguese life. When you feel more confident, visit our country because Portugal is not just Lisbon. Visit Porto and the North of our country. People are even friendlier and more welcoming than here in the South.
