- Hey guys!! In order to keep helping you develop better and more complete strokes, I wanted to share with you this piece of advice on how to get the hips involved correctly to get that extra power on the forehand.

Fantastic demo there, think I finally get it. Sending respect from England.
Awesome forehands and simple instruction dude!
explosive forehand demo...speaks volumes.
Fantastic demo
Give the excellent technique for a good forehand, Mr. Gracia Gaston.
Great tutorial!
Great video explanation of creating angular momentum
Much appreciated
Great video, nice form!
Thanks!!
Good lesson
Awesome! hip rotation is missing link in my forehand and I was wondering why the hell I am not getting the power in my forehand.
Excellent!
Thanks man!
Really nice video!, very useful and simple to understand.
Maybe a video about hips rotation for one handed backhand for more power? It would be super! 🙏🏼
Thanks man! Coming soon!
good stuff
👏Thank you
Nice 👍
Thanks!
Can I buy your forehand ! When I use hips in swing my elbow often gets too close to my body, try to use opposite arm to be far enough away from the ball, doesnt always happen as I have been arming the ball for too long so now when I use hips body tightens up as swing is so different.
On your take back from the ready position: lead with your elbow. As you unit turn, lift your elbow and bring it back high, as if you were elbowing someone behind you. Then, focus on full extension and swing forward. At contact, your hitting (arm) shoulder should be a bit lower than the opposite side, this will further ensure you keep good distance between arm and body. If you have bad habits developed already, go slow and practice with the ball machine where you shadow 2x, hit the ball the 3rd time. Then repeat. My kid had the same problem by the way, this is how we fixed it. Additional technique that can do wonders (but difficult) Practice the Running forehand using the buggy whip technique: This will really force you to create space between elbow and body, and will help with hip and body rotation (while up in the air) Super hard but will improve the elbow situation in no time! This worked for us, results for others might be different. GL!
Wonderful forhand, I cannot get this linear motion and the follow through. Amazing stuff!
Edit 1: I have watched again all your forehand videos including the old ones from last years. One thing I did not learn is how to keep the racket at contact. What are the factors that define the orientation of the racket at contact? Topspin, position on the court, grip and what are the best practices? I tent to close the racket at contact for topspin but many people say this is a mistake? Thank you!
For me it depends in offensive and deffensive topspin.
Normally I accelerate more in a offensive shot and the consequence is I close the raquet face more
Hey!! Thanks for that.. I will do a video on that then trying to show the different faces at contact!
@@polloelegante5927 It´s depends if you hit when the incoming ball is on the rise or it is falling. In the first case racket angle should be a bit more closed, than in the second (because of physics, angle of deflection).
Really good advice. It's impossible to get real power without the rotation.
Also, it's clear that the ball is about to take a beating at 6:20! Too bad I can't hit like that when it matters in a match!
Thanks Dan! Keep practicing man, it's all repetition and a lot of competition to be able to compete like you train!
nice girl
Would this kind of hip rotation apply to a one handed backhand?
Hmm Yes somehow.. but there are some diferences on the backhand!
Connecting Tennis Thank you.
Is Wilson better than Babolat?
So many racket models in each brand, impossible to tell. More than the brand, specifications are important, weight, string pattern, stiffness, headsize, string type, string tension, grip size, balance. You must find the racket that suits your game, by yourself. Try as many rackets as you can. Wilson, Babolat, Volkl, Tecnifibre, Prince, Head, Donnay, Angell, Dunlop, Yonex, Pro Kennex, all are great brands.
Hey! Agree with the answer below. I personally prefer Wilson but I have used ALL brands before.. Some I don't really find them good for me, some are also great.. but it's more a personal choose!
Can you explain how hips and hitting arm must work together? Thanks for the great videos.
Do the hips “fire” at contact? Is is possible to turn hips too soon?
Not a coach here, just an analysis nerd. For most of the forehands I have seen at a top level, there is no ‘firing’ of the hips. Rather than think about it like a quick burst of movement (that’ll result in mistiming at best, injury at worst) the idea should be continued rotation throughout the swing motion. Start rotating during the backswing and gradually build speed up rather than jerking forward at contact. The hips are important, but use them in conjunction with the rest of the body. They are very important and injuring them at any age can lead to lifelong pain.
@@juliansanderson839 Thanks Julian, good points. I suspect that a lot of people misinterpret words often associated with tennis and other sports movements.
You have to fire the hip then it will turn the shoulder then hit the ball. You have to face forward when contacting the ball.

I think you are over-rotating in those shots where you are giving an example. Your head is also pulling off the ball. Just my opinion.
There is no way you are leading with the hip. Let’s see a jumping forehand where you lead with the hip.
Too much WAFFLE!
Stop explaining what your going to teach and just teach it. You wasted 1:09 of viewer's time saying what you are going to do instead of doing it.
.. first 30 seconds tells you that this dude has a weak presentation - he cannot get to the point he is trying to make. Switch off and look elsewhere ..
