LANNA International Exotic Plants Thailand - Part 1 | Pre-show Setup And Early Access To The Best!

- I set out to film the setting up process of LANNA international exotic plants show in Chiangmai on day -1 of the event, only to experience the raw energy of behind the scenes, as well as some of the rarest plants being snatched up the minute they were unboxed (before the event started!). In this episode we witness the set up processes as well as the early plant purchases of some of the rarest plants that did not even make it to public viewing! Mr Piyakaset from Queen Sirikit Botanical Garden walked with me at some point to share some botanical knowledge I didn’t know I needed. We also got special access to the competition plants at the end of the episode! There’s also a surprising encore that nobody asked for! The next episodes will focus on aroids and non-aroids tour in the event after it has opened to public so stick around!

I just want to thank you for making these videos I’m sure there’s a lot of people like me that would never get to see an event like this in their lifetime and getting to see your tours is seriously awesome. A lot of other tours I’ll watch people skip over so much and it feels rushed, but I don’t go a day without watching either you or Irene give some sort of plant tour. You both are amazing at going into everything and going into depth on care and where the plants come from. I also love how much new stuff I’m introduced to in every video it’s genuinely educational even to someone like me who likes to think they know all the plants 😂 So thank you again for taking your time to share these beautiful plants and your knowledge with us 😁

I know of a man in New York who made two terrariums out of two alcoves. In them, he kept over 200 small orchids for years. It's not what you've got, it's how you use it... ;) :P
@@StanWatt. you are absolutely right! I actually got into building terrariums due to space and I live in the desert so I wanted to keep my plants happy but could not do humidifiers everyday and even that isn’t enough here in AZ

What an exclusive premium show for exotic plants. The placement of big greens with colorful bromeliads as under was just a brilliant idea @5:00. Love love 2:53 Blechnum & 16:58, 7:10 Aglaonema Variegata, 9:30 bromeliad beauty & 10:15, displayed with framed insects with plants 23:30, Fire Aloe beauty 26:09, 35:37 Episcia v., 38:23 Hedychium, 44:27 variety, 46:50 Piper V., and all the competition plants 48:13.

@@onlyplants I m glad to see the S. Amex vendors / people do well AND the plants showing well during this show as the plants didnt do well in Singapore Garden Fest 2022 - most of the plants seems damaged / brownish / in poor conditions during the Fest.

The plant community is so alive in Thailand! I wish my country supported the “boom” in plant industry since COVID started people buying lots of plants. But instead of support, they actually banned some exotic plants like ferns and jungle plants.... people liking plants is a good thing tho I don’t get it. Most people propagate plants but they afraid people will make plants extinct or something.
Yeahhh over protecting is not good too! We have the same issue in Indonesia

I was so glad to see the Philodendron polypodioides. I just purchased a 2 leaf mid cuttings and it's putting out crazy roots. It's been on my wish list and so hard to find. Thanks for bringing us along with you it was so interesting.

What kind of Aroid potting mix do they use in Thailand? Here in New Zealand many of us use fern fibre but I don’t really like it.
Different nurseries use different recipes… fern fibre is not really that sustainable but its ok mixed with other things. Using fern fibre only may be a bit too organic and could invite rot.

Many of my farang friends are crazy about these beautiful plants, they are often to be found around Bangkok and at the local markets,
most would certainly travel to Chiangmai as well..
Is it necessary to purchase tickets to the event,
or is entry free?
If tickets have to be bought, Farangs pay the same price as Thais.
an important question, because all my farang friends reject the double price system in many places here.. and would then definitely not go there ??

How do they get them from one country to another?
In Thailand, as long as you have import permits its extremely easy to bring in and out plants.
