Newegg claimed that the pins on our motherboard were bent (even though we never even opened it), then when we called them out, they claimed there was "thermal paste" on the socket. They fought tooth and nail to deny our $500 refund, apparently making up new stories at every corner. Newegg might try this on all motherboards, but has special leeway to do it on open box products. Don't buy them. We will be avoiding Newegg as much as we can for all future motherboard purchases (and purchases in general). It's unacceptable that everything was magically refunded and sent back and resolved after we tweeted publicly, yet we got no support when acting as a normal customer.

I had the same story before with a $700 purchase. I found a better deal and canceled it 5 seconds after I ordered. They sent it anyways and so when it arrived I returned it at the door. The package was never in my custody. It was sent back and they never sent a refund and refused to over a month span. I started a three way call with my bank and got the issue resolved. Their excuse was that it was stuck in shipping and was my fault. You may need to do the same through your bank and I recommend doing so.

I ordered my Phantex P300a mesh case from them, it got lost in transit for a few days. I filed a missing claim and ordered from amazon. I ended up with 2 cases, because I thought I would never receive the case from newegg. I ended up selling the extra case. I had one bad experience, now I am not buying from them again. Never had any issues from amazon, I had an ssd that I bought from amazon, it died 1 week after use. I sent it back and got a refund no questions asked. Many times I had to 'escalate' my request to 'supervisors' that tried every trick in the book to stop my RMA. Nine out of ten times this was done when I was retuning Unopened items. The HDD enclosure was just the last straw in a long line of poor support from Newegg.

If the neighbour doesn't answer, they post a different card through your door telling you to collect the item from your nearest depo. And the delivery person will take it back to that depo.

I "won" the Newegg lottery for a 3080ti video card in November. When the card arrived it was in an opened box with all of the documentation and accessories missing. Luckily when I saw that the box it was in was closed with packing tape and was generally damaged I recorded my opening of the box. They attempted to claim that it was impossible that the item was previously sold I sent the video to them. They accepted the RMA and around two weeks later I got an actual new card.

I regret buying stuff of Newegg this week... I ordered 4 packs of 32GB Silicon Power DDR4 RAM, 100% failure rate. All of them were failed. I tested them in a working motherboard. I bought two new Gigabyte motherboards from Newegg and neither of them would post, nor would they even give an error code using a 4 pin speaker. Really crazy that they shipped so many DOA items. I sent the items back and waiting for them to respond. Hopefully I don't get screwed even though I feel already screwed by them. A guy in my work actually bought a motherboard that was also DOA and they refused to take it back.

With giant competitors like amazon, you'd think newegg would understand they can win through good customer service. Guess not. RIP Newegg. Micro Center is my new friend. (I don't work for MC BTW)

Sony/Playstation does the same thing they'll allow people to make 1,000s of purchases while suspended but won't let people refund anything while suspended and then people contact support and they just get told that they are suspended and won't refund your money and won't tell you why you are suspended and also you still can't transfer ps5 saves thru usb PS: Newegg I always saw as a scam almost always excessive prices and always charging shipping on anything to alaska

Built two systems using Newegg... No more.
I've actually had some decent interactions with them between 2013 and 2017, some of them RMA's one of them was a motherboard, everything went smoothly.
    No more.
Thank you Steve for shining light on a major issue in customer service.

This happened to me with a Z690 Hero motherboard as a part of the ASUS recall of the product. They also claimed bent pins (despite the unrelated fire hazard that this board poses). This is currently in dispute, but Newegg is adamant that there was user-caused damage. I asked for pictures, which they said they would check on and send, but I never received a single one. In over 20 years of building, I have never bent a pin - nor have I had an issue with Newegg in those 20 years. I'm out $600 unless I win my dispute, and Newegg is out an 18+ year customer.

My Asrock motherboard was not supposed to be open item or refurbished but it was not sealed and was missing cables and ssd nvme mounting accessories. Asrock was nice enough to send me the missing stuff and luckily the motherboard worked. I'm just waiting for another ssd that was 2 weeks late due to "warehouse delay" issues.

I can honestly say I've bought most hardware for my builds on Newegg. No more. I'm sure, just like you said, they were hoping you were one of the helpless people like the rest of us. Thank you for using your platform for the small people. You could have easily gotten in touch with someone in media or something behind the scenes and let them fix their "mistake" behind the curtain... Again, THANK YOU for bringing them to light.

I can't speak for Newegg but I really want to give a shout out to EVGA and say that I had a 980 Ti that crapped out and was under warranty. I contacted EVGA whom I bought from and they sent me a replacement refurbed 980 Ti. It crapped out in a month when I contacted them again they apologized and sent me a normal 1080 refurbed. I had that for about 4 months and it broke. I called them and explained what was going on and I was told this would be handled and I would receive a phone call. One of their VPs called me and apologized and said that they would be overnighting me a brand new 1080. Never once did they put the blame on me and every time, they took care of the problem swiftly. The moral of the story is I'm never going to forget them for that, or this video!
