  • This 1973 Dodge promotional film, titled " 1973 Coronet and Coronet Wagon ", was sent to Dodge car dealerships to be used as an in-house Sales personal training film. Sales Personnel were to show the film to potential buyers prior to the test drive. The film highlights technical aspects and features of the new model year.
This film came from my personal collection. This film was not downloaded from any website and is not reused content. This restoration is my work. The restoration process started with removing the super8 film from the Kodak Model B Movie Film Cartridge. The film came printed on magnetic sound Eastman film stock. After removal the film was cleaned, repaired, and spooled onto a standard film reel. Next the scanning to digital process was performed on the Lasergraphics Scanstation motion picture film scanner in 2k resolution. Excess film grain noise was removed, and extensive color restoration performed using 3 separate processes in DaVinci Resolve software. An additional processing for dust and scratch removal was performed utilizing NeatVideo. Then the film was upscaled into 4K resolution utilizing Topaz AI software. In 4K, the images were sharpened, and additional detail correction was performed. Then a final color restoration and image stabilization process was performed in DaVinci Resolve. Finally, the film was downscaled back to 2k for uploading to CZcams. As I work on these films, I try to improve the process as I go along. Note the audio track was altered due to copywrite content. Thanks for watching.

My dad had one in 1975 (sedan) 225 slant6, he put 250,000 miles on it and sold it. The guy who bought it put the car over one million miles with one rebuild and now he use the engine for his sawmill.

I don't know from personal experience, but folks have said that the 225 was possibly one of the best engines made. I think 250k might be a stretch for the average owner...but, that's pretty awesome!

Quick question, I've found it really interesting how sought after these wagons are, and I was wondering what the appeal was? I think they're cool too, but I was just curious if it was a nostalgia thing or not, like if you had this car growing up. or perhaps they just look better?

@@sterlinsilverwagons were so common when I was a child, I just find them more interesting than the ubiquitous SUVs of today. From a practical perspective, I think wagons were more space efficient and handled better than the SUVs of the day, though that may not be true of today's offerings.

These loop-bumper Coronets were some of the last Dodges to really look more upscale than their Plymouth counterpart.

No wonder I grew up not knowing that Dodge was meant to be above Plymouth in the brand hierarchy. Until the Plymouth brand went to the Showroom in the Sky, I had no idea that Plymouth was the budget brand (like Chevrolet or Ford) while Dodge was the sportier and fancier brand (like Pontiac/Oldsmobile/Buick or Mercury). As far as I could tell, Dodge and Plymouth were two brands under Chrysler that sold the same cars under different names. While GM was the biggest offender when it came to competing with itself, I at least knew that Chevrolet was the budget brand, Pontiac was the sporty brand above Chevrolet, Oldsmobile was the "lower" near-luxury brand, and Buick was the "higher" near-luxury brand.

@@jasonhsu4711 I always thought that Plymouth was the higher level brand. I'm guessing I figured the structure was similar to Lincoln Mercury dealerships as both of those brands were higher level than Ford, so I assume the same for Chrysler.

when the film was produced, the production company had to acquire rights to the music used. The copyright on the film has expired but not on the music. In order for me to post the film without and copywrite restrictions on CZcams I have to cut out the copywrite audio and replace it. I use music supplied by CZcams that closely matches the timeline and mood. It isn't always perfect as its almost impossible to completely erase the original track.

...a shame, because much of the design was sound - I'll take a Mopar Slant 6, Hemi 6 (Aussie) or 318 with electronic ignition over most of the other engines from the Big 3. In Australia, the 1971-81 Valiant was truly a great engine in search of a great car.
