APD Restores 1975 Dodge Coronet Police Cruiser

- The Attleboro Police Department is bringing back an icon from a past era. A team of volunteers have been working to restore a 1975 Dodge Coronet into a replica of a police cruiser from that decade. The project has been in the works for some time and the vehicle should be ready roll for the cities 100th Anniversary Parade. Patrolman Ronald Goyette has led the project from the beginning, and we spoke with him to learn more about the project.
Those B body Mopars (whether Dodge or Plymouth) are very rare! They just did not last long. Fantastic remodeling and saving this beauty!! I remember the Ohio State Highway Patrol had them during this era. I was a kid back them, but remember them! Go Mopar !!
They would have loved a car I used to own. '75 Coronet built to be an Interceptor but was never used as a Police unit. I was the 2nd owner n bought it from a mom that put 80,000 miles on it. It even had the points in the dash to attach/install all the equipment needed by police. 400 4 bbl hi perf engine, heavy duty tuned suspension, 30 gal gas tank, lightly tinted windows all around. That was quite the cruiser.

Very nice job, fellas. It would be perfect if the engine was a 440, but I'm guessing city units back then would have had the 360.

The 75 Dodge Coronet was my first car . My father gave it to me with $125,000 miles on it. It was great because it looked like an unmarked Police car so everyone pulled to the right to let me pass. I believe it was rear wheel drive with a v8 engine. Unfortunately the water pump went and the car constantly overheated, thus resulting in engine damage. R.I.P.

Apart from the grill I got a real hard time distinguishing this car from a '75 Plymouth Fury. And ain't the rims of a newer date compared to what was used in the '70ies? Love the work on the cruiser...

My step dad and my uncle bought 2 of these cars in Bradford New York and they were police cars 😊.

Seattle PD was able to secure a 1970 Satellite, yeah I know, Belvedere was the basis for the fleet packages but, I'm guessing since the A38 was a thing by that year, that's what Seattle went with. Car's basically a PR/show car but, it IS an active duty unit, as in IF the Ofr driving it sees a violator, said subject would HAVE to abide by that sedan's emergency lights.

I have a 1975 four-door cornet looking for the right carburetor for a two barrel if anybody knows and knows the number for it I sure appreciate it cuz my daddy give it to me and I'm trying to get to drive it again and I need the carburetor
I wonder if they went out and made a few traffic stops with this?

If you haven't figured out already; he says in the clip that one beacon is chain driven , indicating the setup is a Federal Signal Twin Beacon Ray Model 11.There'll be one motor driving one beacon as a chain in the bar runs the other(slave) unit. As the bulbs are rotating in the same direction(if I'm not remembering wrong) it'll be the later version. Visually they are almost identical to FS Model 14 but differ mechanically
That body style is also what was used for the patrol cars in The Dukes of Hazzard and Smokey & The Bandit also used that style of patrol car for the movies they did. Different 80's TV shows also had random 75 Coronets not done up as police cars that the bad guys drove in The A-Team, The Fall Guy, Magnum P.I., etc...

The sedans used in these shows as police cars and 'heavy' cars were actual retired units from various Southern California police/general service agencies.
Actually, it was more likely that the 1977 and 1978 Plymouth Fury cars were used in The Dukes of Hazzard for the Hazzard County police units (though a neighboring county, the fictional Chickasaw County, did indeed use the 1975 or 1976 model years for that vehicle), though your claim on the Plymouth Fury model might be correct for Smokey and the Bandit I, +001GenLee. The reason that I say this is that, most of the time, you could tell that the 1977 and 1978 Plymouth Fury models were used, as their headlights and grilles were completely different than what was used on the 1975 and 1976 models of the vehicle.
