Season Three, Episode Four - 11 April 1982
Arkwright considers yet another money-making scheme. Everybody seems to want fire-lighters in the winter so he can save cash by making his own - or rather getting Granville to make them in the shed at the back. With explosive results. - Zábava
Ronnie Barker is hilarious in everything he does and seems to work well with everyone. My favourite actor ever.
The scenes between Granville and the Milk Woman are beautifully written and acted.
I like when they kiss.he was good he end up with 4 bottles of milk.
This was simply well written comedy gold xx
I can't believe there are people out there who don't like this show!!! It's brilliant! Cannot beat British comedy!
But that was back then, as todays comedy shows are mostly utter PC crap...
I agree. We seem to have this ridiculous notion of being terrified of offending someone. Why? Some things, like Arkwright’a stutter are funny. It’s time to ignore the crackpot pc brigade and get on with having a laugh.
@PJ Train Absolutely! But you missed the “U” out of neighbour!
@@nigelkthomas9501: "Neighbor" is the American spelling I think. With the "U" is British and Canadian.
This country is no more - Too many snowflakes and wokes.
Brill never get tired of watching them.
I am sitting here as a Norwegian who remembers almost everything of anything British. I spent a few years over there, and have super memories!
And now England has lost her fantastic monarch,I so feel for you! Thank you, England, for all you gave me!
Much love from a Norwegian. Xx
Thank you x
It always cracks me up when David Jason can hardly hold a laugh back. These two were meant to act together.
Stephanie Cole! Mrs. Fearherstone. I remember her in "Waiting For God". Another good British comedy!😊
Best ever!!!
She was in Doc Martin.
And Tenko as the Doctor,
I like the way the nurse digs the medicine out of the inside pocket of her coat, and bungs it to Arkwright.
Love this era love this show, makes me nostalgic and very happy. Best of British.
I grew up with these British Comedies since the seventies , here in Dallas Texas. USA . The best .
I'm in Maryland and grew up with British comedies like this thanks to PBS.
The chap with the dog has me in stitches, every time!
Pure gold. I’ve never seen physical comedy that’s made me laugh so hard 😂
I love this Era love this show ❤ makes me think of past an very happy New Zealand 2024.
What a legend Ronnie Barker is great comeden
Was
Never laughed so much in my life ! British comedy - the best !
I didn’t think I’d laugh loud when I’m alone but this show made me! 👌🏻
You've gotta trust someone some day
Not when you're signing for it you ain't
Words of wisdom from arkwright
You guys know how to make excellent comedy 😂😂 greetings from ireland😊.I have subbed and liked the video
Ronnie Barker,what a comedian!Great stuff!
What legends. Just pure brilliance. The British.the best comedians in the world. And top people.thankyou from down under. Australia 👍☀️
chad wingard obviously you have never watched 'Kingswood Country'.
harkeill and 'Mother and Son'..but I agree.
harkeill I must thank you for mentioning Kingswood country. I've been enjoying British comedies for 28yrs now and Kingswood is a gem. Thanks again from New York City ☺😋
Hi, I’m from England and live in Australia. But got to agree with you can’t beat English comedy!
@@johnnymelendez4836 kingswood country was made in Sydney Australia not England?
I was less than a day old when this episode aired but grew up with repeats, classic show.
G,G,G Granville fetch your cloth 🤣
#1 Canadian viewer, the British comedies are always the best,👍👍.
I think it's hilarious when Granville suddenly turns into the 'errand boy from outer space.'
very depressing as a youg un now can't live without it....
U cant beat this show ever
Funny how David Jason was a year older than the lady playing Mrs Featherstone.
I love how Mrs Featherstone says "weird" (wee-ud)!
Ronnie barker was a comedy genius
Poor Granville! He's so sweet! Oooo! The NICE guy speech..
He's alot cuter than the Milk guy. 🤭🤭🤭
The milk guy reminds me of my dad when he was young 😄
I always loved Barbara Flynn. Great episode of this classic Barker series.
that dog routine hillarious
My stomach still hurts from laughing (again) 😂😂😂
I've got the CD collection, an absolute classic starring Ronnie Barker and David Jason, a great comedy team just timeless and so so funny.
I am watching this in 2019 wonder how well it would go down letting a kid that young smoke. I can imagine how much would be said now lol
"You're a nice person Granville."
"I wish you hadn't said that. That's what girls say when they go off with someone nasty."
Poor Granville. If the milkwoman prefers nasty blokes then sod her, she doesn't deserve you.
Awww poor Granville. I think he needs a nice motherly hug from the nurse.
26:00 That dog is trying to save his owner his money lol
Poor Granville never going to a disco. 🥳
But at least he can look forward to never going to the disco, in a different shirt. That one is too prone to starting fires and blowing up things for never wearing to a disco. 😂
David Jason/Granville is actually one year older than Stephanie Cole/Mrs. Featherstone. 😃
The original mr krabs
Haha haha
My favourite OAH episode! LOL every time. Thanks :)
2nd favourite for me the 1st is arkwrights mobile stores
I've been watching from episode 1 over the last few days and they're all funny but I laughed the hardest when the chap went flying out the door by his dog. 😂
"Lad" !! David Jason was 42 when this was made. 😂
I'm not sure if it's supposed to be ironically funny that he's pretty much middle-aged or his Granville character was written for a younger person. Either way it's pretty funny 😂
What a great show! I would have loved to see this one come to the US.
If it had you'd probably have been fed a watered-down, Americanized version... For example, check out the difference between Steptoe and Son and Sanford and Son... The USA rips off a lot of British comedies, and the results are rarely as funny as the originals. If you'd like to watch more really funny British comedies, just let me know and I'll recommend a few of my favorite series for you! :)
It was shown in New York ❤
Well you can always stay and watch them here
You tube carries these shows
17:54 Imagine having that on a TV show today! Haha
Never seen that before. It was probably cut.
@@irishcountryman4866 yes those clips have been removed from episodes that air on TV.
Arkwright cutting up Granville's best disco shirt, that was pretty mean of him
"F-f-f-fiiiiire lighters" and "in the sh-shed out the back"...classic comedy
he bebebebeberback
I damn near wah wah wet myself
I want a Morris Minor, but the tree huggers in California wouldn't allow it.
David Jason is in fact 1 year older than Stephanie Cole.
John James It's so funny. Lynda Baron (Nurse Gladys) is a year older as well
"Take two of these"
" Two of those !!! ". Pmsl.
Lol...What chance nowadays of anything on the telly having a young lad smoking ? None whatsoever -- too many of the 'easily offended' would be offended ! Don't make 'em like they used to !=D
Good grief !!!!
How many
locks and bolts
are on the shop door
when Granville first
opens the store !!!!!!?????
Jams Dodger fan
22 I think
I always say British Comedy is the best compared to American and Canadian ones! No comparison.
G g g granville fetch a cloth
F f f f fire fire lol
The explosion at 29:17, you wouldn't get that on either "IT'LL BE ALRIGHT ON THE NIGHT" or "YOU'VE BEEN FRAMED!", would you?
A Brummie! Haha.
with all the fake American news thank god for old British tv shows , thank you
Anyone remember 'mind your language' ? Timeless 😮
If the milkman was the first person in the shop, how did Mrs Gillespie come for her bread? 5:08
Magic
Love these originals, can't stand the new ones, they don't make em like they used to.
they aren't nearly as good as these but they still are a lot better then most of the crap on tv.
The mm master
Love these good all shows please bring them back cut down on half the shit that is on tv today please
Watching the interaction between Mrs Featherstone & Granville in this episode makes me wonder how they came up with the stupid idea in 'still open all hours' of her having the hots for the older Granville. The writers surely never watched the original & much better series.
Mark Gowans Yeah I know it was stupid. Also by the show she wouldn't have been still alive in the time Still Open All Hours was set in as she was supposed to be older here. Yeah it wasn't good and like you said, It's like they didn't watch the first show. They were missing an intregal part of the show that made it- Ronnie Barker.
Agreed, that aspect of the show was disappointing. I would like to see how Granville runs the store after he takes over, but Granville isn't just another Arkwright, I wished the show made him out differently.
esme t- I completely agree. I think what should have happened after Open All Hours finished is this:
Granville looks after the shop while Arkwright and Gladys get married and go on their honeymoon. After Arkwright dies, he looks after the shop for a few years whilst nursing Gladys and courting the milkwoman (whatever her job is by that point). When Gladys dies, he sells the shop, and with the proceeds, marries the milkwoman and goes into a more exciting line of work.
Just worth a mention that the same man, Roy Clarke, wrote both series.
People can change over a period of time can’t they? What a obnoxious comment!
WHAT HER NAME ,SHE IS SO VERY BEAUTIFUL, LOVE HER .
Excellent ❤️❤️
OMG I nearly fell out of my chair 💺 when I watched the start I thought it was a woman ♀️ outside the door. 😂😂😂 Love 💕 these series since I was a kid. From down Under 🦘
Fined in Doncaster
Why all those locks on a glass door that could be easily, silently broken?
How does one silently break glass? Are you a cat burglar?
Starting at around 10 min. in, there are several innuendos.
Is it me or is it that I noticed the TV Times magazine from January 82 with George Cole and Dennis Waterman at around the 25:22 mark, look at the bottom of the screen.
The fiance/milk man's supervisor IS big and nasty, but he's definitely not handsome.
Just Brilliant
The milk round supervisor is horrible There nothing handsome about him poor Granville
I don't think it's about looks. He is average but sometimes unfortunately women like the edgy guys. That seems to be changing though.
@@r.s.7198 lol average with that big shock of scruffy hair milk lady needs glasses
I didn't know the milk truck was electric
Milk floats were electric in the 60s and 70e. Nothing new.
I wonder iif they chose the characters name Arkwright because the shop is 'right out of the Ark' ( old saying)
stuff, the new still open all hours cerise, and give me the old open all hours.its the good old english comedians.
28:02 ive done that when i was a teen mixed stuff up and blew up my moms burning barrel( metal barrel my mom burned yard trash in)
What was it with small loafs.and why two lol
Victoria Smith freeze one lol
Loaves not loafs.
Funny to think Mrs Featherstone irl is 1 yr younger than David Jason
50% percent hahah
How did Ronnie barker manage to stutter
WHAT'S THE MILKWOMENS NAME.
Didnt parslow die in season 1 or 2? Awrkright went to the funeral. How can Mrs Parslow still have a husband?
Could be Parsloe!
seriously, why is she going off with him??? hes repulsive. 4:42
Whats the name of the girl who got the flowers?
The actress? Barbara Flynn.
Her name was Barbara Flynn, however to the best of my knowledge she was never named in the series
was born in 1979 lol

The only problem I have with these relationships is what do the older ones think is going to happen to their "empires" when they are gone and their replacements are too old too fund their own replacements
( I know they addressed this in still open all hours but my point stands) without some unforseen relative appearing out of nowhere it all goes anyway after the one they stopped for so long from copulating is too old for it, and we wonder why there are so few shopkeepers about now, better to keep blaming the supermarkets for offering better pay and conditions
To be fair I think David Jason's character (Granville) was supposed to be much younger, like early 20's but David was in his early 40's here.
@@TheTruthKiwi he was 45 to Granville's 19 when he started playing him 🤣
Arkwright took him out of school at 11 years old when he went to help in the shop, I guess we could say quite happily that... 8 years of Arkwright would probably age ya quite a bit anyway ✌️🤣
