- I picked up my passenger from a Harry Styles concert, only to find ourselves stuck in a brutal 3-hour gridlock traffic jam. Determined to get her home, I came up with an unconventional plan: walking Jess home instead of driving. It required guts, tenacity and coordination of many people! When life gives you lemons, make lemonade!

Funny how once you got off that one street, all the other streets were clear. I hate that. It's like when there's a traffic jam on the highway, you wait 40 mins to get to the choke point and...there's nothing. WTF?
I once was stuck in traffic and the accident was on the other side of the highway. I got to the point where people were rubber necking and the guy in front of me literally got his whole upper body to his hips OUT of his window to look. I of course laid on the horn and yelled WHAT IS YOUR MALFUNCTION???
Its called ghosttraffic i believe. Its a whole thing on youtube. One person might change lanes and the other person behind brake a little, next one brakes a bit more, the third one might not notice at first and brakes even harder. The next one brakes and comes completely still for a second, then all the other behind brakes until stopping. And that just repeats all the way back of the traffic.
@@viikmaqic yeah and the worst part is (I forget the exact number) but it takes like 2 or 3 seconds PER CAR to get back up to highway speed. So if you stop 100 cars, it'll take 200 seconds for them all to get back up to speed and that doesn't include the ones who slowed down but didn't stop.
Where I live the busy main hwy handles 347 cars per minute. So if slow them down or stop for 2+ minutes you've screwed the highway for an hour.
@@muskokamike127 what cars you driving 0-70mph is 2-3 seconds! that's crazy fast. Takes my economy car like, 12 seconds. (Edit: my bad a little wierd way you said "stop 100" instead of slow 100).
@@4kirb That was a conservative estimate based on slowed/stopped vehicles. Yes, if you sat and measured it would take much longer than that. That doesn't even include transport trucks that could take minutes to get back up to speed.
One thing I've found with the internet: if you show the actual numbers, you get thousands who will argue, so to be safe, if you halve or 1/4 the figures, they have nothing to argue about. WHAT it doesn't take that LONG to get TRAFFIC MOVING AGAIN REE REE REEE
Then you pull up the data and say "actually I was low, it takes much longer: 10 seconds per car x 347 cars = 3470 mins/60 = about an hour.

Oh let me correct you on the longest Trafficjam please. Takes a bit of time but the actual longest jam (in terms of time waited) was in the Suezcanal and NO it wasn't the one with the funny Memes around it. It was actually June 15th 1967 15 ships tried to cross through when all of a sudden civil war broke out between israel and egypt and had 14 of the 15 ships suddenly stuck RIGHT in the middle and noone could continue due to mines in the river beeing set up and air strikes happening constantly around the important crossings. This had all of them stuck there. The crew of different nations (2 german boats, 4 british, 2 swedisch, 2 polish, and each one french bulgarian tschech and american boat) and they all held different gatherings. Church every sunday at the germans, movie nights with the bulgarians, football at the french and so on. Them beeing friends was quite special since it was all during cold war. Another Fact because of all the Sanddust gathering at the boats and them not moving they quickly became known as the "Yellow Fleet" and after almost 9 Years they could "continue" their journey. Meaning some boats not moving anymore due to errosion and some just turning back to their homelands where they got greated with thousands of smaller boats waiting and holding a parade for them
