The Bottle Rockets are an alt-country band founded by Brian Henneman and Mark Ortmann in 1992. Credited along with Uncle Tupelo with the 90’s revival of alt-country, they merge a riff-heavy punk aesthetic with the hard-working, blue-collar work ethic of Middle America. Frontman Brian Henneman is regarded as a potent storyteller who is capable of gleaning revelations from simple subject matter and authentically personalizing biographical tales.
Recorded on November 23, 2015 in Chicago, IL.

I've watched this so many times... it's really one of the best sounding live sessions I've ever heard. Really well mixed. Warm.
Hats off to the engineer.
Without looking at the comments, this is the first one I expected. Totally agree: amazing sound production and peformance.
Mark Ortmann is a sensational drummer.
I love this band so much. Been a huge fan since The Brooklyn Side. Perfectly crafted American Rock n Roll with no strings attached!! So nice to see them still active and not compromising....
True story: Oct. 1999 I go and see Jimmy Page &The Black Crowes at The Greek Theatre in Los Angeles. Awesome show!! The very next night I go and see The Bottle Rockets at The House of Blues in Hollywood (I was very excited because they dont play in LA much). Great show and even the guitar player from the Black Crowes came out and joined the band, which was very cool.....Anyways, I am with a very attractive blond that night and after the show one of the guys in the band invites us back up to their dressing room to hang out, where we proceed to indulge in massive amounts of Sierra Nevada. At least I did, lol. I meet the guitar player from the Black Crowes and tell him I saw him play the night before and how lucky he was to play with Jimmy Page. He kinda shrugged me off but whatever (dick), I was partying with my favorite band in the world. Brian (the lead singer) ended up giving my friend his hat before we had to leave and she still has it....I will always remember that night. It was perfect.
Thank you for all the great music Bottle Rockets : )
"Are there violins playing or is just me, this is better than I've been told"
sounds like the crowes guitarist lol. Music is subjective. Heard a supe call robert plant a no talent sob compared to allison krauss
My wife and I were watching the Bottle Rockets one night some 20 odd years back as they did a show at Brownie’s in NYC. The band was ripping it up and then Warren Haynes comes out to help close the first set. That was one fun night.
Discovered them late. Damn! Love these guys. Love the songs!
I've seen them over a dozen times over the past 25 years. They deserve much more popularity than they have. If you like them, go see them, recruit your family and friends too. I've turned a few of mine into huge Bottle Rocket fans. Hope to seem them again at Shank Hall in Milwaukee!
the band, the crew, everyone involved with this session must be very proud.
Brian's retired as of 2021... thanks for all the great music.
I'm from Scotland, I miss this band.
This is a brilliant session. So much to take in.
The Rockets just finished played a twilight show in front of a couple hundred in Rockford, IL. Wine and cheese crowd but it was fun as the boys are pro's. Thanks for visiting the Anderson Gardens.
Dig this band. Had Rickenbackers in my old band. And, Paul Reed Smith guitars, Strats. All had their place.
Heard about them from an interview I was watching from someone else, definitely a fan after this, brilliant!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Just ordered my Brad Sarno Earth Drive pedal after listening to this since I use a Rick and a Gretsch !
Love these dudes!!!! one of my fav rock n roll bands!
Love this! I wish I got to see them live!😎👍✨💚
Memphis is the 2nd closest Big city to where you guys are located and you haven't played here (in a club) in a decade. We would support you every time you came here if you would just come here. 100 miles away as Sheryl would say.
just saw them for the first time at the Bolton center in bayshore on long island. great band
these dudes rock
Rickenbacker and Gretch, twangalicious.👍
Great sound. Great band. Thanx.
best capture ever heard.
I'm now a fan! Awesome!
killer guitar tones ... I want a Rick now
I have a Ricky - 4003 bass and I hate the neck. I play my 2002 Jazz Deluxe most of the time. Spend some w a Ricky neck to make sure its right
Sounds great. Good background vocals make a huge difference.
So I guess it's farewell, boys? Brian, for a guy who once "just wanted to be Gary Rossington," you 4 made life just a little bit better.
Reminds me of John Hiatt
Wonder if these guys ever listened to any delfuegos records love that midwestern America rock style.
I too have seen these guys multiple times since 1990s. Man what a gorgeous fucking Rickenbacker he's playing
He's my dog! 🐶🐶🐶
fantastic to say the least !
Great show. What are those silver boxes attached to all the mic stands?
