I love hearing this Gary. Thats what I always try to do. Not what everyone does in their videos but doing in my own way, hitting points about tents that are important to me. Getting in and out of a tent can be a real pain at times. There is no perfect tent out there. There's always something that doesn't check the box. And also, I don't get paid to make videos on products, so I think that helps keeping an objective mind. ~RVA~

Yes Nemo is a great product Petra. This elite OSMO one is a bit lighter with the new fabric. I like green too but they only make the elite one in this particular color. Great hearing from you. ~RVA~

That’s a pretty sweet tent. I’ve been using a LiteFighter 1 person for a year now and love it. Plus they sell a winter fly, which converts it to a 4 season tent. I’m definitely going to start using the Rakuten app. Cheers to ya’ll.🤙

Nemo as some good reliable products. I have their Hornet ll is use as a backup to my Zpacks Duplex. The Hornet is an excellent tent for one person in my opinion. It’s nice to see Nemo working with a new material. Great money saving tip! #✌️
1 person is right! I could not, would not be in that tent with a 2nd person. Just not realistic for a happy camping experience. Great company, I have the forte sleeping bag and the accordion mat from them as well. Both those products have never let me down.

I also bought a similar light weight backpacking tent with rain fly, it's the Sierra designs meteor lite Free standing for 3 person and I love it

This looks like a really great tent. The weight sounds OK and it's freestanding, that's always nice! I liked your see-through test. For me it's also important that you can't tell if it's a female or a male inside!

About the duplex, you do know that there is a freestanding kit for it. Remember us putting it up on the bed at the motel? 😁

Absolutely! Thats always the problem with UL tents, very thin material between you and the outdoors. Then add it being a light color. I think everyone doing 1st impressions and tent reviews should do that same test. But usually, its guys doing them, and they don't really think about that as much as women do. Honest review, great job on pointing out the pros and cons. Yes, I agree, probably not big enough for two people to be comfortable. Really good information the cash back offered by various places too. yes, a free standing tent would be awesome for me eventually, for places like in the west, not always taking the poles would be nice. What spray did you use?

Thanks so much! I don't have a lot of other females that I know that live near me that are into the outdoors. My outdoor girl friends are from other states. We do get together from time to time and I love it! We do live in crazy times, but I will never let fear stop me from doing what I love. I take lots of precautions and carry lots of safety gear and protection with me at all times.
No cheap but it does look quality, which I suppose is what you are paying for. Yep looks one person to me, which is fine as Mrs Metalmans camping days are long gone now but the lightweight of the tent is a real winner for me, cheers Alan

This tent is currently listed at $449 across the board right now! We love Nemo products and have 3 tents, 2 sleeping bags, and numerous other products. We’ve never had any issues with any of them. I hope you enjoy!

Honest and thorough, thanks ! Near Zero vs Nemo, which one do you prefer ?
Thats really hard. The Nemo is lighter, but I feel like the near zero is more durable. Both are easy to set up, the NZO is a lot cheaper. My NZO is a 3p but they make the 2p version which looks exactly the same. I wish I had the 2p size actually, it's just such a comfortable tent. Maybe the NZO, ha ha. @nearzerooutdoors
Seems to me they need to rethink the head room on that tent. Looks a little claustrophobic to me but I've not been in one in person. That's definitely not a two person tent but perfectly sufficient for one. The feature that stands out the most to me is that you can exit (or stand up) without having to crawl on the ground. That really is nice when it's been raining and the ground is yucky. This is a really great in-depth review! I've been using Rakuten for several years and love getting my big fat check!
Yes this is a 2 person tent, they have a smaller `1p tent. I have to say this is smaller than my other 2 p tents. No way could I ever do a 1 person tent. But its a tent designed to keep it UL. So no extra material, extra bells or whistles to keep the weight down. I would say its comparable to the Big Agnes, but instead of 4 poles, its only 3. But lighter in weight and the Osmo material poly nylon is an upgrade. I think the camera sometimes skews what you see. But I bought it, to be UL in my pack. I don't need extras on the trail. Just a place to lay my head, only to get back up and get miles in. Thanks Tie-dye! ~RVA~
@@RVAHikerGirl I have the 1 person Lanshan XL. It's small and I can tolerate it for its UL weight but I sure love my 2 person tent better. I technically bought the 1 person for kayak camping since it will fit easily in my hatch but have only used it on the Pinhoti so far. I hope this Nemo works out for you. I'm sure you can make some adjustments on the pull out strings to help open it up some. Nemo has some nice gear.
@@MtnWanderer-TieDye-Lanshan for the win! I have a Lanshan 2 and that is real spacious. But I wanted a freestanding tent, not another hiking pole tent. I have a Nemo sleeping bad and fold up mat and they are both holding up great. Wish I could design my own tent, that way all the boxes would be checked.
great video. Do you have the exact weight? And, did you find that its actual weight was the same as its advertised weight?
Yes, I weighed it on the scale at home and with the stakes, tent, fly, and poles it came in just under 2lbs. And I am changing out the stakes for some lighter weight ones and that will reduce the weight by a bit more John. Hope that helps. ~RVA~
Its a little roomier and it works well in the rain and it also has 2 vestibules and it's a stargazer and has a window at the top for more ventilation, ive also used it on the beach and it withstand the wind, but missing sand pouches for extra stability 😂
This tent is not great in the wind because instead of a 4 pole system it only has 3 for the main tent to stay ultralightweight. I love it for long distance backpacking, however I have several other tents that I would use instead of this one if it was going to be windy or if I was car camping. I wouldn't take this one to the beach is those winds and the way the foot end stakes out, its just not as stable as some other tents out there for those types of conditions. Sand stakes help a lot but if I am backpacking, I probably wouldn't carry those as they are big and bulky.

No issues at all. No leaks, and love how light weight it is. I am a tent geek, so I may be getting one I saw debuted at Virginia Trails Days because I love tents so much. The Hyperlight Mountain Gear Mid 1. Its a little lighter in weight, and its a hiking pole tent. Its a beauty. I got in it at Trail Days and it felt great - its made of dyneema so no seam sealing. Both are about the same price. If you want an UL freestanding tent this one is great. If you want am U: hiking pole tent that might be a bit more durable over time I would say the Mid 1. Hope that helps.

Hey, great video, I've got a Nemo sleeping bag, and I will look into their tents for summertime use,is it OK in the rain?I'm in the North of the UK,so we get more of our share of rain.Looks like a great tent though.(just subbed)👍👍🇬🇧🇬🇧
I feel like with UK weather you may want something more durable that will hold up to high winds and driving rain. Not sure I would recommend this tent for those types of harsher conditions. This is just a ultralight weight option for my backpacking trips. I has held up fine in the rain but not sure that the 3 pole construction could handle super windy conditions over and over. Too small for me. I am looking at the Durston xmid pro 2p. I do like that that one is free standing.
Yep, that Durston tent is a hot tent right now. If you can catch it before it sells out. Small boutique brands and small batch products can be hard at times to get your hands on. I know several people who have and love that tent. This tent works for me because its light weight and just the right size for me backpacking. Now camping, I prefer a bigger tent for sure. Really like the design of this tent! Looks roomy and super light! Also, I saw that you have the rapide SL sleeping pad. that pad is AWESOME! Currently looking at the X-mid pro...just can't move forward since I bought two tents in 2021 and still using them. Great review!
Yes, that is my warranty upgrade replacement. I had the Air Core XL and it sprung a leak. So, I upgraded to a wider 25" mattress since I always have a hard time sleeping. Sleep is everything for me, so hopefully this helps in that department. Check out that Rakuten, it's a great way to save some dough, to just by more equipment or to help fund future trips. I'll eventually break down and get a duplex, its inevitable - especially when backpacking with JByrd, we need the space.

Are you not scared of bears when camping lady
No. I am in black bear country on the east coast. (not in grizzly country - west coast) I take precautions to keep food, toiletries, anything with smell away from where I sleep. I hang my food bag up high in tree a good distance from where I am sleeping. Black bear just run away when you make noise. There are certain behaviors that you don't do when you come across one. Don't run, make noise, make yourself look bigger, slowly back away, etc.

Please stop discouraging people from doing what they love. Just because you would not go somewhere alone does not mean that someone else could not go be happy and perfectly safe based on their knowledge and skill set.
Everyone has different levels of experience and know how and just because you do not, does not mean that someone else doesn’t. This is 2023 and women can go and do things on their own and don’t need another person to be around to experience life and happiness. Ma’am my channel is not for you so I wouldn’t recommend watching any more of my videos. Most of my 200 videos are solo adventures so use your own wisdom and watch something else.

Good question. I haven't noticed that in any of my other tents. I've had my REI 1/2 dome for 4 years, My UST House Party for 3 years both having white mesh and they look brand new. I do take meticulous care of my gear though. I am only assuming that this one will hold up in the same capacity. You are very sweet. I don't do a ton of these types of vids, but when I do I like to be thorough.
