    I have been watching your videos for a while now just wanted to thank you and let you know your videos are very informative as well as entertaining... I found a heated twin size fitted sheet mat I plug it into my solar battery it only uses 30 Watts on low and it does not have an automatic shut off so I don't have to wake up to turn it off.. right now is the only heating option I have in my 2009 no build van other than I do have two rechargeable hand warmers that work well and lots of situations I even use those when I go to bed to warm up my hands and feet. Those jackets are interesting I feel like maybe you could even sleep in one to stay warm at night! Thank you so much for the great information!

      Aww thank you Jay, I really appreciate your very kind comments. I am so happy when my videos help others. I have actually used one as a little heating blanket over my feet before. Oh and those rechargeable hand warmers are life savers. I like cutting one on and putting it in my sleeping bag when I get up in the middle of the night and have to go pee. When I come back to my sleeping bag it helps me warm up faster. Happy Holidays to you! ~RVA~

    I was hiking in -10C (14F) last week and ma, out of the sun that was dam chilly, so in those conditions this would be an absolute lifesaver . Mrs Metalman hates the cold so for her this jacket would be idea and a nice feminine colour as well but the como and black would be great for me. I like the different heat settings, the price is a bit on the steep side, especially for a couple of OAPs like us. Love the chest (core) sleeveless jacket and I think if I could afford them, I would like them to be proper waterproof and not just resistant, as I never feel confident outdoors in any sort of wet weather. The black sleeveless for me and the pink long sleeve for Mrs Metalman, - that's all your Christmas shopping done for us😁. Excellent review and I hope you have a Wonderful Christmas, cheers Alan

      You could put a waterproof shell or rain jacket over a heated jacket to make it 100% waterproof in your type of wet misty rainy weather in the UK. I love that these types of jackets can enable you to stay outside longer and more comfortably. Have a wonderful holiday Alan! ~RVA~

  • @StepsbyKaatje
    @StepsbyKaatje Před rokem +1

    I had never heard of it, but it looks interesting.
    On the other, while hiking, you're body is a heater by itself. You just have to be dressed properly with enough layers, so you can layer up or down, what you need!
    But at night in the camp or the next morning, this could be really helpful. Although I guess a heated blanket (if it exists) can do the job as well!
    Thanks for giving us your honest review. When you're out in winter à lot, why not...
    Have a great day! Kaat

    • @RVAHikerGirl
      @RVAHikerGirl  Před rokem +1

      I like hiking in the vest and turning it on when I first start until my body gets warm. Then turn it off. When I stop for a break and start getting chilly I turn it back on again. Sometimes it’s so cold when I hike I never take a layer off no matter how many miles I’m doing and I am still cold. So it’s nice to have an option to warm up out there. I’ve used the pink jacket over my legs when camping by the fire to keep my lower body warm too as a heating blanket. They make everything heated these days. Another video to come on some other heated outdoor products stay tuned. 😜

    Hi Jacqueline! Loved this! We know how you feel about those cold temps!
    It seems as though with where the power is on the vest, and the location of the battery areas that there may be some interference with waist belts on the backpacks - so we are guessing these are meant more for around town type wear? What is your opinion?
    How long did you get out of the battery on the pink jacket? The waterproof/wind blocking is a nice addition!
    Nice comparison between the two products.
    Interesting concept. We had looked into a few different ones last year - but never made the plunge.
    Hope you have a wonderful holiday season! Merry Christmas!
    Keep making memories & adventure on! ~Karen & Shannon WOY

    • @RVAHikerGirl
      @RVAHikerGirl  Před rokem +1

      No the heating areas are above where a backpack waist belt would buckle around your waist. The only heated area would be the vest on the shoulders where a backpack shoulder straps would run and you could cut the heat off in that area if it was a problem. I would not wear either of these on a long backpacking trip only hiking and other outdoor activities. The jacket is not ultra light. I have worn them both on day hikes and enjoyed them.
