Oracle died so that Voidweaver could live
I don't see myself using oracle at all. Hoping the other tree for holy is better. I don't see any disc using oracle tbh.
Excerpt from the legion disc priest concept preview to help guide designers on the class revamps: "... It looks to me like Voidweaver is finally giving me the gameplay that was conceptually promised ~7 years ago. I want to cast shadow on enemies and holy to allies. Smite as our filler all this time has bugged the crap out of me. Excited for this even if Oracle is a miss
There was spell ids being brought back. Cascade is either coming back in the trees or through archon. Thats such an iconic priest spell i cant wait to see again

Oracle is so impossible to play without Weakaura. Personally I like the concept but the buffs given by the active spells are so wildly unequeal the overheal transfer is so so so much better it's not even close.
I love the concept of having Disc and Holy using each other's spells passively it's a cute concept.
I think they want you to use the other specs spells actively since you get a Premonition charge after using a lot of shields and mending. And i don't know if i like that
@@hilsti I really don't think so. You get mending from Shield from mending. So you will get charges by using either so might as well your key spell for your spec.
Otherwise disc would never get charges while holy would get them extra fast because it triggers on every mending heal.
@@sombrego2260 But the Mending from Shield is 1 stack, so you will get 2 stacks for your Talent that need 150 stacks for a free Premonition. That would need 75 Shield casts for a single proc. Or maybe im misinterpreting something completly here.
@@hilsti If it doesn't work out they'll change the values. Casting a prayer of mending now and then as Disc shouldn't be too much of an issue especially when you get the benefit from the shield talents like getting mana back and so on.
I learned disc priest for BFA, mostly using your videos, the way you clearly talk about mechanics and how to keep the party alive was extremely helpful. I just wanted to say thanks. I'm picking the game back up and Voidweaver sounds amazing.

Premonition should just work like Chakra did. Am I crazy? Press premonition and then renew/smite/pw:s to activate the effect. Let it have multiple charges baseline as well and change the cycling talent to something else.
I was thinking the same thing, the premonitions should buff the same spells that divine word does and just be extra flavor on top of whichever spell you use divine word with would be really nice.
I miss Chakra's tbh, and i think it would be sick if they expanded on that system. They could do some cool stuff with it nowadays where you need to pick what you want to be strongest at, through key moments in the fight. If you play poorly, you'll be heavily punished, but once you learn the key timings for switching, you'll be a god in terms of pumping out healing.
So Voidweaver... Smite replaced by visually impresive nuke? Check. Big AoE nuke coming at the end boosted by you spaming buttons? Check. Is it new and more smooth Boon of the Ascended? I can't really imagine going Oracle. Better treshold for PWL does not really make up for this.

Pretty sure the "big AoE nuke coming at the end boosted by you spamming buttons" is not only not AoE (it says random enemy, not targets, i also thought it would make sense if this was more like echoing void from shadow priest), but it also isnt boosted by spamming abilities, just by pressing one, and has a hardcap of 8, which is what 2 penances in 10-15 seconds?
This ability is imo actually the boring part of the tree.

I want to ask Blizzard so hard for whom they make trees like Oracle. Im positive only few would want to play and even fewer will enjoy it. You dont need to be a Nostradamus to foresee 93%-7% ratio between players who play other Hero Tree and those who play Oracle, unless its massively busted. So why, Blizzard? Why waste the time for something like that? It just sucks to be Holy Priest and know for sure that i will only play 50% of available Hero Trees, and i didnt even see Archont.
Devs start with concepts and then build something. Whenever you see a spec's rotation and wonder why it is the way it is, it's cause they wanted you to feel like that spec theme while you played it. I'm sure it's the same for oracle, they had an idea they thought was cool, seeing/planning into the future for your benefit.
I'm not terribly into it either but they also want to leave the option open for those who might enjoy it. If it really is underutilized I'm sure in this day and age they will change it for the better. But remember, the people who like Aug actually do like it. Even if it's a minority, blizz is okay not trying to make everything only satisfy the majority if that makes sense.
its for the top tier of players. Usually raiders. Once they've played around with it and given feedback, the nerfs start.

I'm not a Disc main but I thought the major complaint was not how it cycles but the cycling itself?
God oracle is abysmal.

I feel like nobody thinks about these. In the context of arenabecause Oracle looks absolutely insane. An extra charge cool down reduction, having more single target healing or over mechanics over one player sound like arena talent to me. 17 seconds is the difference in your being being ready to set up a go and land a kill before their defensives they traded earlier in the match come back.
I think it would be cooler if oracle was just about buffing power word shield in a way, that makes it way more important for holy and stronger for disc

This gives me the same vibe when shadowlands was announced. I swore on playing venthyr
But few months in I swapped to the ability I shat on the most.

Do they not have the technology to just give you all 3 buttons but have them share charges? The cycling ability and having to time it is terrible. Especially for the personal external; its value as an emergency spell to help keep a target alive is greatly diminished if you have to stare at your weakaura and wait for it to be right spell before you can use it to save your party member's life.
The previous version of Oracle needed some changes for sure, but I felt like the design while bold, was way more interesting than this current iteration. Even if you weren't playing super optimally (which, let's be honest, most aren't) the theme would still be buffing someone else and giving someone more than they already had in most cases. Which is at least a bit rewarding still if you enjoy that type of support healer gameplay.
This version seems...kind of like a headache to manage and seems way more punishing for messing up, or you just may gain nothing from your buff due to it cycling to something else. The over healing premonition immediately stands out as the best option out of the three.
They already cooked with Voidweaver, and personally I thought they were cooking with the original Oracle...just needed a bit more heat and time in the oven...some seasoning here and there and I think it would have at least been fun to play. Feeling like a D&D cleric, buffing and healing your allies or a FFXIV Astrologian.
Agreed that Oracle looks nearly unplayable and Voidweaver looks fantastic. Though I hope they don’t keep the big casting animation for the smite replacement. Spell animation is cool but that casting animation looks weird when spamming.
VoidWeaver looks like Boon of the Ascend but voided with (contro) no istant cast proc (pros) atonement buffed,shadow spell and rift, tbh looks very interesting and fun, before calling for nerfs should see how good it does on very bursty and hard scenarios like high keys /myth raids or high rated pvp. and Seriously i hope that Oracle will not be the "mandatory" choiche to join 3s pvp like it was fae cds reduction in SL. 😄

I'm a disc only, but to me this is looking more like mistweaver Monk's "Shielunes Gift" (probably didnt spell it right) but theres like 6 different buffs you can get from that and I have NEVER managed to learn what they all mean AND remember it
@@iGlimmyr well, I was really more referring to play style, making holy (healer) do everything.. dps, off-tank, heal all while moving with too slow of CD's on the spells we need to use (difficult for holy), dispel, remove poisons.. something needs to FKn give..

Who tf decided that oracle just HAD to be a slot machine? Like... im glad its not w PI bc that's already work to micromanage but still.....
I understand experimenting with deeper healing rotations (though perhaps I'd preffer that for some of the dps classes vs healer etc) for like.... the purposes of introducing smth new besides just flat rotation and proc chance rotation choices. But.... maybe not for the oracle tree? Mayb somewhere else? I feel like disc ramp just gonna get more weird w it and I think holy is a bit underpowered with the new abilities so... eh...?

They should find something else than Oracle, clearly there are some good ideas in those hero talents but the main mechanic is just another thing you need to track. Maybe they should've gone for some kind of 'archbishop' and basically just supercharge disc's light healing and just add some disc functionality on holy?
What would honestly make more sense for Oracle would be essentially being able to put reactive heals on people (like a single stack PoM), perhaps changing Echo of Light into that. It'd give you the whole "seeing into the future" fantasy stuff.
As a disc/shadow player, voidweaver just looks too good. Picking a main will be difficult again, mage and warlock look super sick too!

They are, every spec in the game has two hero talents to choose from. Holy's other hero talent tree is called Archon.

Honestly it’s still awful, but I’d say it’s better, because at least it’s not an even worse PI. Fuck that lol, cause that sucks for priests, and for everyone else too, this sucks slightly less for us, and doesn’t really matter to everyone else. Small victories I guess lol.
@@ThatFoxGirl if Archon isn’t amazing it’s disc/shadow for me. And that sucks because I’ve been primarily holy since 2006. I like to play all 3 specs depending on content, but if holy ends up being that stupid, ugh.

This feels like such a missed opportunity. Oracle is the only one that is coming from two healer specs in the whole game, it should have been something special or at least interesting.
At least with the last Oracle tree there was actually the payoff where you’d get all 5 buffs active at the same time which might have felt cool, with this new tree they traded off the headache of having the juggle spells with any fantasy it could have had. Still easily one of the worst hero talents and I think they just need to ground up rework it. Take inspiration from voidweaver! Make it feel as cool as it plays
What irritates me the most is that oracle, by their own definition, is a healer who peers into the future to protect allies.
And yet the only thing in the kit that resembles this are the talent names. There is absolutely no flavor aside from "oh well if u think about it in this really abstract way, maybe u can see the kit possibly resembling the theme."
No one in there right mind wants an ability that rotates onna class that revolves around burst ramp healing CDs..... Lol like really .....???

I game for fun. Oracle tree sounds more like work than fun. They missed the mark on that one again, unfortunately.
Long live voidweaver. Down with the oracle. Hopefully they give up on the idea of it as is. An extra button that rotates its effect constantly just doesn't sound that fun at its core imo. Needs an actual reworking
stop talkin about nerfing the fun gameplay, instead talk about buffing whatever Oracle is. Be positive and keep the fun stuff as it is. Looking back at dragonflight, Disc was a joke. Its time to shine.

I was really hoping they would scrap premonition and the cycling mechanic entirely but it seems this is someones pet project and they have too much pride to take the L. Hopefully Archon is better because I'm not playing oracle as it is.
Yeah oracle seems really meh even for casual like me. As a long time healer priest, the idea of "in-betweener talent" between 2 healing spec is nerdgassive af, but making us into FF14's Astrologist isnt :((

They do tend to have a lot of the stuff from the current expansion of classic bleed over into retail development. Bringing back Charkas maybe fits that niche
i am not a CE player. I am AOTC at best. This is making it way too overcomplicated. I started disc'ing during aberrus because my guild needed a healer and SINCE then I have had to relearn how to play several freaking times due to talent changes and what not. It's extremely frustrating.
Hopefully blizz doesn't see the fun people are having with voidweaver and decide to nerf it into the ground. Oracle sounds pretty terrible for the most part. Hopefully Archon is good for Holy!

I play both PVE and PVP. Does anyone disagree that first-row talent for Void Reaver should be a blink or a spectral guise or gap closer/fast teleport of some type similar to the Void elf racial because Disc badly could use something like this in every form of content? I will not be very happy if that collapsing voide talent spreads AOE onto CC and breaks CC in PVP.
Voidweaver biig W. Oracle...what? did they only read part of the critic saying pi minigme was bad so they JUST left the minigame? Nope. just no. as a holy enjoyer I wish Archon isnt as complete garbage as oracle still is.
Well, crap. I play Disc solo on a Draenei, have played the same character and spec as my main and only since 2008, and Oracle is pretty useless for me unless I plan to start doing group content again - and I don't. So, Voidweaver is my only option and while it looks powerful, it's Shadowy theme is antithetical to my character and I actually have a bad taste in my mouth thinking about having to spec Voidweaver.
That leaves me curious about Archon - if these hero trees aren't optional, I may consider re-speccing Holy / Archon after 16 years of loyally playing pretty much every iteration of Disc to have ever existed.
They turned an awesome support hero spec into literal garbage.. hopefully archon is good for holy, because voidweaver disc looks too fun to pass up.
Man, they are DETERMINED to make oracle be a shittier, horrible version of Final Fantasy's astrologian. Astrologian is also one of the least played healers in FF, because SURPRISE SURPRISE! PEOPLE DONT LIKE HAVING TO SIFT THROUGH BULLSHIT TO GET TO THE GOOD PARTS WHILE TRYING TO KEEP PEOPLE ALIVE! That's why FF reworked astrologian to remove picking and choosing and just making all the little card buffs fire and forget. Voidweaver is 100% the pick, oracle is garbage. And the sad thing is I KNOW what blizzard is going to do. Instead of scrapping Oracle's failed 'pick your fate' theme and doing something better, blizz will just nerf the shit out of Voidweaver to make it less appealing. Because that's what blizzard ALWAYS does. Instead of making everything better, they bring everything DOWN to some stupid, horrible, shitty lowest common denominator.
What a hot take, speak for yourself. Old Astro was by far the better iteration and had way more players playing it back in Stormblood before the rework. Now nobody plays it and its garbage.
Just because you lack any semblance of working memory in your brain and can't juggle more than 3 abilities at a time doesn't mean other people can't.
