How to Change 🛠️ DualShock 4 Analog Stick Tension - PS4

- How to change the tension of the PS4 controller analog stick, we have tension springs ranging from 10 gram till 200 gram.
Our springs will only fit original PS4 analog stick modules, so no aftermarket modules due to the fact these can have shorter springs inside.
Higher tension can be great for aiming in FPS games or racing games.
Note that replacing these springs is not advised for beginners. Some soldering skills are needed.

I've never seen anything like it before. The video is shot and the explanation is very clear, excellent. Thank you
I’ve modded a handful of PS4 controllers on my channel, yet I’m blown away by the work you do. Keep it up, very inspirational 👌🏻
LaBelle's Workshop will do my best to inform as clear as possible👌
Dude you read my mind. Great editing and instructional video without a lot of talking.
having repaired plenty of dualshock 4 pads in the past this guy makes it look very simple you need very steady hands to complete this
I just did mine right now it was kinda hard but you need steady hands but it was my first time
$4 a spring 😳🤮
How much to fix mine. Same problem left analog stick
I've got the shakiest of the shakiest of hands and I've already done it myself theres many methods to take to prevent hand shaking
What is the name of the tiny discs that are inside the green "doors"? I need to change one and I dkn't know how to search for them.
Appreciate the tutorial bro. I was able to replace the drifting analog stick.
Also a tip to everyone: be sure when you are re-soldering the new analog stick in place, don't cross your solder.
Seeing tiny parts disassembled or assembled either way is so satisfying. great video man
You all probably dont care but does anybody know a tool to log back into an Instagram account..?
I somehow forgot the login password. I appreciate any tricks you can offer me.
@Davian Brayan Instablaster ;)
@Manuel Justice Thanks for your reply. I got to the site through google and I'm waiting for the hacking stuff now.
I see it takes quite some time so I will reply here later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
@Manuel Justice it did the trick and I now got access to my account again. I'm so happy:D
Thanks so much, you saved my account!
@Davian Brayan happy to help :)
Finally I’m was looking for this video 😩 (part 2) thanks for sharing this!
To fix a stick drift problem, I just did this minus the solder sucker and heat gun. It was not easy or fun..... but it got done. Wish I could pull it off with the speed & ease this guy is able to.
Could I just send my broken controller to you
Dont know why but 10:34 scared the s*** out of me. 😂
Calming lo-fi music to study and vibe to suddenly "HEY THAT'S PRETTY GOOD"
shit.. agree xD
@@davtech420 heEEEEY
What a coincidence mine just broke and u guys upload a video on how to fix it hahaha greatness
I know it a bit late but can you list the details of everything you used. I'm trying to remove and transfer a joy stick without melting everything to a crisp
This is perfect! been looking for exactly this, thanks a million!
Your hands working perfect! Good man! Great work!
This was super helpful man♥️♥️
Yea on second thought I'll just buy a new controller
Lol thats no lie
When I got to this part after taking apart my controller and realizing I have to desolder it? Ah, fuck that, i'll just buy a new controller, because the price of the soldering tools will cost me the price of a new controller, and with PS5 around the corner? Hmmmmmmmmmm, yeah right.
@@m.3.3.w umm no, not even close to the cost of a new ds4. I ordered one off Amazon prime for $18! (For replacing a joystick module on my scuf impact cuz scuf doesnt service impacts anymore....)
@@m.3.3.w Best to find an electronics buddy to do this for you. Lucky for me I am that guy lol

Help me....my 2 weeks old Dualshock 4' left analog stick is drifting. What should I do 😞 ?
Excellent video, thanks for this man, you go straight to the point
I'm thinking about doing this with the higher tension analog sticks from battle beaver. They have a disclaimer that Sonys remotes are calibrated to specific abalog sticks and it might not work. What is your professional opinion?
What sping would be recommended for a game like war thunder where you are moving a cursor around? I've got as far as dissassembling and have the oem spring out just cant make my mind up which spring to order. I'm thinking a soft as possible would be best but would 10 grams still snap back to center?
awsome video man, i subbed, keep them coming pls
Thank you. Really great work!
"welcome" 😎
That's cool man!!! Nice work
I have an X360 controller that isn't exactly broken, it's just that the left analog stick has become quite a bit loose and doesn't quite snap back to center, instead sometimes it leans slightly to the left, which most of the time isn't enough to cause mayor problems but it's still annoying. I'm not sure if fixing that is worth going through all this, especially since it works perfectly otherwise.
Nice video I watnted mostly to se the "anatomy" of this part and I saw also stupid thing I made on disoldering one it needs more tools except iron and solder vacumm.
What a huge pita this was. Haha. I found snipping the tabs off after using the solder pump was helpful for my wick to lap up the remainder. Also, if you get a sticky one, apply a small dome of fresh solder and wick it again. The new stuff will help suck the old stuff into the wick.
I'm having issues where both anologue thumb controls don't respond after trying to clean left module which had a slight drift.
I've ended changing both sensor discs after a clean with 99% alcohol, now all I get from gamepad tester is showing both anolgues stuck in up left for axis visual display, rest buttons work fine.
I have replaced the two analog sticks from my xbox 360 controller for pc and now they lost precision on diagonal directions, what could be?
Interesting vid. There's a part on right side of my left analog module that moves (when stick moves). Any idea what holds it down or in place?
Can this be done to the Scuf Infinity 4PS?
My right stick has a nasty dead zone and move by itself. If I remove he scuf module and add a DS4 module, will this fix it?
Fantastic hand and a very good job thanks a lot
How can I disable or take out R3 button? I have 3 controllers so I don’t mind modifying one for COD game. So many matches I click R3 accidentally when someone jumps infront to gunfire and opponent is like 15 feet away and I accidentally click it to melee, so I swapped the button assignment but it doesn’t help since In COD every button is for something so then I slide accidentally or try calling killstreak. I just want to take it out completely. Is it possible? I tried jamming it between the orange piece and black pad but made controller act weird. Like it wouldn’t let me run some matches or work.
Can you guys make metal spring compressions for gamecube controllers
as well?
btw hot air is optional it will make it easy to remove the joystick but just putting the solder iron the the solder joints and wiggling them slightly would also remove them
Hey man, I know it's a little off topic but I would appreciate your help, I have a Amazon Xbox one controller which one of it's thumbsticks is staring to feel hard and worn out, thing is that I wanted to replace the stick module with an old 360 controller module but the 360 module is a little bit bigger and it won't fit in the circuit board holes, I've been reading that DS3 analog stick modules are smaller than the 360's so i was wondering if those may fit or if there is some scale or nomenclature I ignore to know the seize or type of analog stick I need for replacement, thanks in advance.
Been trying to find wtf is inside one of these and had a hard time finding anything. Surprised it turns out to be that simple. Lots of solder though :/ Nice to know what makes it crappy stiff.
Do you have a kit like battlebeaver for the separe d-pad (4 small arrow button)
What kind of heat gun is that to help remove solder? I got one but it must be a cheap model. I put one of the narrow tips on it and started melting the plastic housing of the gun
the sharpness of the video is impressive 😮👍🙂
Is insufficient spring tension the cause of the analog stick not centring properly and allowing unwanted movement on some games?
Great video really help me decide to sod that and buy a new one lol
how much watoo of Soldering Iron should be used?I tried 15W, but doesn't work at all
great video, you really know how to make this all, i really like it.
lifetime experiences thanks🙆♂️
I have a PS4 slim controller and I'm planning to mod the stick tension. The modules in the controller are the orange ones and there's no spring inside them. Would it still work if I swap it out with the green module?
What is the difference between the standard green joysticks vs the black and orange ones?
Are there different sizes for this analog stick module? I was wondering because I need to repair a third-party controller but I'm not sure if the part I'm gonna order from Aliexpress will fit. Thanks and have a nice day.
Question! What would happen if i took out the spring and didn't replace it? Would the analog stick still function??? Wanting to mod one of my old controllers to use as a FPV sim, and having the left stick act like a gimbal with no 'return to center' function would really help.
That chair squeak in the beginning reminded me of usher haha
I'm glad this video shows that it's not always easy, and its pretty tedious. . I've attempted this, and ruined my pads. I'll do it again. My tip keeps crumbling, why? I feel dumb. Maybe i need paste
@XQGaming Thank you for the video. Changed analog spring with higher tension, but now its moving hardly, what can be done ?
Doing this caused off-center middle-points in both my joysticks. Is there any way to calibrate them easily? (The window calibrator doesn’t help)
thanks. for improve am analog stick on a new generic ps4 contrioller do you recommend an specific stick or potentiometer pair to replace?
what is the standard ps3 spring and can i replace spring with out taking off the analog stick
Consulta: el L3 del play 3 , puede usarse en el comando del play 4?
Do i need part 2 if ive put a new one in?
How hard is it to replace the grey centre pin on an elite controller?
On what he's holding this controller hard drive? Was trying to get one like this but can't fine anything
very good video, i think is possible to change the spring without desoldering the analogic tho... i think i'll try it
That was amazing. Is there any way of getting inside that analog joystick while it's still on the board? See last night I was trying to slip/wedge something(a spacer) in between the contact that L3 clicks down onto and the adhesive wasn't dry enough and the spacer I had slipped right inside there and I cant get it out.... soooooo now its stuck inside. Idk if I've ruined it. And i am maybe 67% confident in my skill of doing what you just did maybe? Haha I'm a little rusty at soldering is all. If I can take it apart while its still on board thatd help alot
how many grams of resistance does dualshock 4 and xbox one x sticks have? i feel like xbox one x has less resistance, trying to figure out which analog stick to order.
Will any analog 3d joystick module work for fixing a ps4 controller? or does it have to be specifically for ps4?
you know how to fix a razor raiju controller? manufacturer told me I no longer have warranty on mine(2 months after I bought it) so now I'm stuck with a $160.00 paper weight
Thank you so much you help me out alot
I can’t believe how easy this is
How did that solder melt so fast? It was hell for me to remove them since they are lead-free.
Problem is that everywhere I go to order new analogs the reviews say that they are garbage and not accurate and have lots of dead zones. I really need good, working analog sensors. Anyone know where I can get some?
buy old defective controllers
lowkeytheoneandonly same, its frustrating af.
Tried battle beaver? I want to try the higher tensions fr I m them but am scared they won't work
If it's just the sensor your worried about you can buy just the sensor wheel and replace it I think I've got a link to some I'll drop later
That would be awesome. I actually found the place that Sony buys their parts from. But I feel like that place is the problem, with making cheap garbage.
Can you replace the springs with out having to remove the box from the board?
Does your site ship to the states or have a US counterpart? Would love to get be new OE analogs to mod and install into my DS4
very good video 👍🏼 but problem with the key (O) it does not work I disassembled the Joystick and clean but it still does not work what should I do ???
this fixes the problem of the stick moving by itself
3:35 I Like this trophy LOL :D
Do these springs work for the DualShock 3 as well or are these just for the DualShock 4? Many thanks!
You saved me. Thank you so much
Awesome! Thank you so much!
Thank you for having clean hands lol 😆 🙏
How can you determine if your analog modules are genuine alps? "originals"
Are you sampling Silent Hill? Awesome music!
I have an original PS1 Analog Controller, will PS4 Analog modules solder on? Thanks.
Muchas gracias. Eres el jefe. Thanks you are the boss
Sony knows this is a common point of failure. They could make it easier for the end user to repair by just using a ribbon cable connection like they do for the other components. They could use a screw mount to fix the joysticks to the body of the controller.
Also, I would not use a heat gun if you're not familiar as the joystick's plastic melts easily. Just keep hitting the pads with the soilder wick and make sure you coat the wick with Flux to make it draw the soilder easily.

Do you have a service where I can ship my controller to you and you fix my analogue sticks with higher tension?
i have drift PowerA wired controller, can i use analog stick DS4 for that
Can’t you buy those green boards in the controller with an increased tension ?
I noticed your website is out of the 150 - 200 grams. I ordered the 100 grams to give it a try. let me know when you restock on the heavier springs.
How can I order the high tension springs?
Can anyone recommend how you know if you want higher tension or lower tension?
The motherboard doesnt get ruined when you burn it?
will these springs work on the DualSense stock joysticks? They use the same alps analog sticks I believe, but you know better than I.
Does thumbstick tension affect how you click the thumbstick or only movement?
Great video! What kind of bench and support tools are you using?
Bump. I would like to know this as well
Mark Blydenburgh looks like harbor freight helping hands stand
can you do this with a dualshock 3? that one is super loose
I want my controller to have super light weight joysticks, can you make it for me (custom)?
The springs, this is just the press down "r3" requiring a firmer press? Or does it also make the stick glide more stiff/accurate? I always accidentally press r3 heat of moment.
zZz I would like to know that too
Glide stiffer, check out @ 10:30
do you think the motherboard of a dualshcock 4 is the same as that of a scuff ?
Ordered some springs from your site. I'm in US west coast. About how long do you think it will take to arrive? really just looking for an honest time frame.
So how long did it take....or are u still waiting
Can you re-use old modules that have de-soldered?
what's the name of the tool you use to hold the ds4 motherboard???
What solder would you recommend for the pcb
this work can fix the looseness in the center of the sticks?
