    To anyone struggling to remove the four screws, I had the same problem. This is how I solved it.
    1. Buy jeweller's precision screwdrivers. These should cost around £3 in the UK, and you should ideally have a flat head that's around 1.2mm long as part of the pack screwdriver. Look for a longish screwdriver with a decent grip.
    2. Apply WD-40 to each of the screws to help loosen them. Make sure you put tape over the L2 and R2 buttons to protect them, before you spray the screws. You don't want WD-40 inside your controller, just around the screws!
    3. Dry the area around the screws after 15-20 minutes.
    4. Take the flat head screwdriver and begin scraping around the tiny space between the screw and the hole. You might think there's no space, but you might be surprised by how much dark gunk you can prise free.
    5. Gently stick the flat head screw driver under the edge of the screw itself. You're trying to minutely push the screw upward. You're not trying to remove it completely like this! It's just loosening the screw from anything it's stuck to!
    6. Try unscrewing the screw with the flat head screwdriver.
    This worked for me after I thought my screws were stuck. Hope it works for you.

    Very helpful. During disassembly I think the blue solid piece covering the inner ribbon (so it can be inserted) fell off from the ribbon. I managed the put it back but while I was doing the the Left Trigger was ripped out because I let go of it too quickly and the filament inside was lost. It just feels loose but it works like it did before I tore it apart. I tried fixing my D-pad by disassembling it but didn't work. I guess I'll just use my Xbox 360 Controller for my PC or buy a new Dualshock 4 Controller (wireless > wired).

Wanted to disable the light bar on mine by pulling the ribbon cable out which is the only way now since after a few updates that no longer have an off setting for the light bar to help save on battery life because as good as the PS4 controller is the battery life is shit compared to the PS3 controller which lasted a few days before needing a charge.

    • @bonuscard1963
      @bonuscard1963  Před 5 lety

      I am sorry that this happened to you. As generations of DS4 controllers change so do the parts list. My videos are pretty accurate to version 1-3, however it seems that the hooks that you mention may not be present in the original versions. Again, I hope that you are able to find a solution.

    • @bonuscard1963
      @bonuscard1963  Před 5 lety

      After reviewing your comment again, I understand what you mean. The plastic hooks are important to be aware of, but of one of them is broken the screws when screwing the casing back together should prove sufficient to hold the case together. Also another replacement casing should be about $5 if you find that you need a replacement.

    Theres something like a metal screw inside my controller that makes noise when I shake my controller I'm scared that if I open my controller I will break something and then it stops working is it safe to open my controller just to take out the thing inside and then fix the controller

    • @bonuscard1963
      @bonuscard1963  Před 2 lety

      There are many plastic hinges/tabs that help hold the sides of the controller case in place. I suspect one of these have snapped off and is shaking around in the controller. With this being said, you must take care when opening the case so that you avoid damaging these tabs. If you can avoid damaging tabs and electrical wires and connections you can definitely open the controller up and remove the stray piece of refuse.

    Great video. Thanks to this I was able to fix some of the loose buttons, however the rubber film for one of the four face buttons is torn (I switched it from X to triangle since I use X more often). Do you have any idea how to fix it, or will I have to replace it?

    • @bonuscard1963
      @bonuscard1963  Před 8 lety +1

      Anton
      That is a perfect solution, I would recommend this solution to everybody if you do not have the spare parts but are looking for a quick fix. The only danger I would foresee is the possibility of ripping through the rubber pad into the circuit board film pad under the button that is now being contacted by the faulty rubber pad. Just remember to take it easy on that button and everything should stay protected.
      Again, thanks for watching and your contribution of your solution.

    • @bonuscard1963
      @bonuscard1963  Před 6 lety

      NewKid18 808Gamez I would suggest checking all terminal connections. Usually a charging problem is due to the light pad not turning on so it gives perceived problems, or you may not have plugged the battery back in, or you may have broken the charging port. These are the 3 most likely reasons.

    • @bonuscard1963
      @bonuscard1963  Před 8 lety +1

      it sounds like you are having an L2 issue. this probably has to do with the L2 button being broken, or due to the conductive rubber pad underneath being misaligned or torn. I would first Check for misalignment, remember the L2 rubber conductive film pad must be pulled over the plastic alignment tab/lip on the inner casing. also remember to insert the rubber conductive pad so that it is completely touching the inner casing.
      If the problem persists it might be because there is a broken part inside or the rubber conductive pad is ripped or torn.
      I wish you the best of luck.
      Thanks for watching!

    Ingame, my L2 and R2 start going crazy and trigger on their own, for example in a shooter, my L2, fires teh second weapon, starts firing it by itself. Should i open the controller and clean that rubber part where it touches the motherboard? Some help plz D:

    • @bonuscard1963
      @bonuscard1963  Před 6 lety +1

      Paul Games pro. Often L1R1L2R2 problems are due to a misalignment of the rubber conductive pad. There is a small lip behind the L1R1 buttons that must be directed over the inner casing in order for the L1R1L2R2 buttons to function correctly. Opening the controller up and checking this area will also allow you to realign all of the buttons and check that the seating ate correct.

    I wanted to fill the R2 silicon pressy thing with glue from a glue gun because it wasn't clicking right.
    I had to take a small flat screw driver and grinded it with a file for about 30 minutes to get it to the right size, why is sony so anti consumer with their irregularly small screws, it least I didn't need a pico star screw to open it, then I would've just trashed the thing
