Remember trans people are human beings. They are allowed to have human experiences like all of us. While I think he should practice patience for the nurses that may have called him mother instead of father, remember this person is still a man because that is his gender identity. Your gender is mental and sex is physical. Just because you are trans does not mean you automatically want a sex change. He has the beautiful gift of giving birth yet we down him for identifying as a man. Gender identity has nothing to do with who allowed to give birth.
Agree with them as well. If you say that you were born in the wrong body to use your female parts to have a baby makes no sense . Or at least give people some grace who don't understand your situation .

I think it’s more about understanding a new science. At the end of the day, no matter how smart you are, there is no limit to how smart you can get. Neil deGrasse Tyson once said that it’s a scientist’s job to know what they don’t know and to keep on studying something even when we think we know something. We once thought that the only way people could get around is on foot or by horse-drawn carriage, then man created the automobile, and it changed our perspective on the concept of transportation. My point is that these people went to medical school and as a result they know more about this stuff than the rest of us, but now they have to keep an open mind and learn something they never thought possible.Though I agree that they need a grace period, during that grace period they need to just be honest about how they feel or think and come to a better understanding of this. Scientific study(whether your an expert at it or not) is a never-ending quest.

Look a person can call themselves whatever the person chooses. However, a biological woman can have a child not a biological man. Period, that is a fact! I think he is confusing the term mother (to give birth to) with mothering (the act of being a mother). The community needs him to acknowledge his bio gender and appreciate the privilege that it has afforded him.
His preferred identity is respected, but he has to respect the reproductive organs that come with the birth origin of female. Because it’s his preference to be referred to as a man, we acknowledge his truth out of respect. But the biological reality still remains that he has female reproductive organs. He choose to use what he has in a beautiful way. So, the same respect and grace has to be given to those who choose to acknowledge the biological truth and not disassociate from scientific facts in a medical setting. Respect is a two way streak.
Birth and motherhood is a female space. So while he doesn't identify with his body, if you give birth you're a mother! That is the definition of mother. We not redefining that!

This is the stuff JK Rowlings, author of the HARRY POTTER novels was talking about when the "Letter community" jumped on her. She said she supported transwomen but the life experience of straight women are unique. It is not the same as transwomen.
Listen, transwomen want it both ways. They want support from straight women to be acknowledged as a woman. However, they are also in competition with straight women for heterosexual men. Notice the things they say. "You don't need to be born with a vagina to be a woman. You don't need to have a uterus to be a woman. You don't need to have a menstrual cycle to be a woman." All the attributes they name are SPECIFIC to women.

I'm sorry, but I will just say it. I think trans people sometimes just want convenience. If you really think you were born with the wrong body, some people are really trying to sympathize and respect you for that. However, the biggest issue here is trans men/women want to keep their body parts and not transition fully because, it is scientifically impossible for two men to breed a child. In this case, you want the ability to procreate yet get upset at the use of the "wrong" pronouns being used. Sorry. We cannot always have it our way. You allowed yourself to be set up and placed in an uncomfortable position as this when the rest of the world doesn't get it right. How can you expect the world as we know it to be changed overnight. This is part of the reason therapy is highly recommended, and in my opinion should be ongoing for those transitioning. Trans community.. can we accept that people are not going to always understand and try to slowly move past something as minuscule as this. If the world was as we each perceive as perfect, we'd all be able to pick and choose. I think the trans community just has to come to terms with certain things as we all strive to be "politically" or "morally" correct. Enjoy and protect the life you just brought into this world.

While I agree this trans person should be more patient with the staff, there is nothing wrong with a trans man to want to be identified as a father. Giving birth has nothing to do with you gender identity. It only has something to do with your sex organs. Remember there is a difference between gender identity and your sex. Gender is mental, sex is physical.

Why did he and his partner decide that HE would be the one to carry the baby if he felt so strongly about not being referred to as the mother? I’m with Claudia and Q, it’s nonsense and he’s looking for attention. I respect transgender individuals and their right to identify according who they are inside, however, I also have a friend who often says, “if everybody calls you an ass, get a saddle.” In other words, he can’t carry a whole baby and push it out of a whole vagina, then get mad when someone calls him mom. That’s like walking around in a dress, a wig, etc., looking like a female, then get upset when someone addresses you using female pronouns. As we say in the military, suck it up and drive on. Parents all over the world fulfill both roles everyday, regardless of gender.
As a proud mother and woman, I'm so over this bullshit. Done, no more deep analysis or breakdowns necessary. If you don't want to be a "mother" or be called one, then don't get pregnant, don't have a vagina, be a man. Men biologically can't get pregnant, carry, or give birth to a baby. Full stop. 🛑

I think the biggest issue that Trans Men/Women are facing when it comes to inclusion is that they want to sit it the exact same space as Biological Men/Women and quite frankly they can’t. And that’s not to be mean or disrespectful, genetically you are something else entirely different.

Like Al I too am immature on the transgender subject to offer a solid opinion. Regardless, my pea-brained opinion is WOman is a human who has or had a womb. Maternal is a human who contributes an egg to the reproductive process. Therefore, the egg contributor and the one who gives birth by human definition is the MOTHER. (Maternal).

Funky Dineva made a great point, "if a person is saying they have the psyche, and the spirit and the soul of a man, and a man born in the wrong body, then be a man". I never thought of it from that viewpoint. That makes sense psychologically and scientifically. To pick and choose what parts and roles of a woman to keep and yet be offended because they're not referred to according to the pronoun of convenience is mind-boggling. Kudos Claudia for expressing how we as women feel.
I read a story a few years ago where a trans man stopped hormone treatment, gave birth and breastfeed the baby. I'm with Claudia, "my head is about to explode, this is getting ridiculous". 😵💫
