The Eurovision Song Contest 2007 was the 52nd edition of the Eurovision Song Contest. It took place in Helsinki, Finland, following the country's victory at the 2006 contest with the song "Hard Rock Hallelujah" by Lordi. Organised by the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) and host broadcaster Yleisradio (Yle), the contest was held at the Hartwall Areena, and consisted of a semi-final on 10 May, and a final on 12 May 2007. The two live shows were presented by Finnish television presenter Jaana Pelkonen and musician and TV-host Mikko Leppilampi. In addition, Krisse Salminen acted as guest host in the green room, and reported from the crowds at the Senate Square.
Forty-two countries participated in the contest - three more than the previous record of thirty-nine, that took part in 2005. The EBU decided to put aside its limit of 40 countries, which would have meant excluding some countries using a ranking order scheme. The Czech Republic and Georgia participated for the first time this year, with Montenegro and Serbia taking part as independent nations for the first time. Austria and Hungary both returned, after their absence from the previous edition. Meanwhile, Monaco decided not to participate, despite initially confirming participation. Monaco has not competed in Eurovision Song Contest ever since.
The winner was Serbia with the song "Molitva", performed by Marija Šerifović and written by Vladimir Graić and Saša Milošević Mare. This was Serbia's first victory in the contest, coincidentally the first year it competed as an independent nation. It was also the first winning song entirely performed in a country's native language since Israel's "Diva" in 1998. Ukraine, Russia, Turkey and Bulgaria rounded out the top five. Further down the table, Belarus achieved their best placing to date, finishing sixth. Meanwhile, Ireland achieved its worst placing in the contest, finishing twenty-fourth (last place). Of the "Big Four" countries, Germany placed the highest, finishing nineteenth.

I wouldn't be surprised if he placed the UK in the top 10 but Russia, Ukraine and Bulgaria in the bottom
While I don't know about Serbia and Ukraine, it's sure to Lucas put Bulgaria at the bottom, if I understand a little bit of Lucas's taste. (Bulgaria was also my last in 2007, 2008 and 2009; lol.)

I found it as a really well-executed satirical piece that has a serious tone to it - the fear of impending war and the laments of just wishing to live in peace. A message that feels even more relevant now.

I was sad you put Serbia this low, but I'm more than happy that someone finally realized that Julija (4Fun) is so damn underrated, as well as Magdi Ruzsa! These two songs are classics of Eurovision

Great top 5, my friend. I have really loved it
Bulgaria was my number 1 this year; it's terrific! I mostly remember that this year all Western European countries complained how unfairly they were treated, while basically Germany was the only one that sent a decent song.
This is incredible video, my friend. My favourites are Moldova, Russia, Turkey, Belarus, Ukraine, Serbia, North Macedonia, Slovenia, Greece, Finland
We may have very different tastes in music, but at least we have the same #1! ❤️

Oh you finally getting to the years you missed
I believe the fact that Salvem el mon didn't qualify is playing an important role and probably one of the main reason and factor that made Andorra decided to quit Eurovision and haven't come back since. Yes I know that they competed for 2 more years but they seemed to pretty much giving up already and the best song that they sent didn't qualify so I guess they think why even bother participating and then they eventually quit after 2009.

I agree with you on 🇸🇪Sweden. Not our strongest entry and definitely not the strongest from that tears Mellofest. I mean, it’s okay and harmless but ehh. Overall I felt that this year was weaker but now that I look at it, it actually wasn’t. A lot of cool songs and no bad ones imo.

You really usually send good songs and you are one of my favourite countries but some of your entries were really cringe for example 2000, 2007 which are my last. But I also have Israel as winner 7 times (1973, 1978, 1979, 1983, 1985 1998, 2017) Izhar Cıhen is my Johnny Logan for sure.

Maybe Russia's 3rd place wss ranking too high, I'm eagerly admitting that, however, it's really underrated on this list. It should be in the Top 15, maybe even Top 10, but that's probably just my opinion. Bulgaria should be ranked higher as well. And I think that Portugal, Andorra and Iceland most certainly would have qualified, if there were 2 semis at that time. (probably even Poland, if one semi was weaker than the other) As it's quite uncommon that the previous edition's 2nd to 10th best ranking non-automatic qualifiers are gonna qualify. For instance,according to the previous rules, both Malta and Bulgaria would have qualified for this year's final as they both took one of the 10 spots behind France and Italy. And there's also one more spot in the final, now 21 non Big 5 entries are in the final, unless a Big 5 country had won the previous contest, the host country and the Top 10 of each semi final. Back then, there were only 20, the host country, 9 additional pre-qualified entries and the Top 10 of the semi-final. So, it might be a plausible guess, to say that Andorra, Iceland and Portugal as the 3 most successful non qualifiers would have qualified, and I personally believe they should have as they're much better and more popular than some of the weaker pre-qualified entries. Sorry for my novel.

Well definitely not mainstream taste but probably the most controversial line here is "we could have won with 'Cara Mia' by Månz Zelmerlöw"...... sorry but there's absolutely no way that's better than Molitva.
