Watch my entire Fallout New Vegas playthrough from the start: • RTGame Fallout New Vegas
Fallout New Vegas is one of my all time favourite games, and I'm so excited to present the game like this. I've planned my character build in depth with the goal of pushing the power of my build increasingly to its limit as time progresses. The plan is to complete all DLC, and pick up increasingly powerful items and perks that will help us throughout the game.

love the decison to leave a lot of the lore in here, so many ytubers/streamers would likely skip over it to spam funny moments
Honestly I think that's one of the big appeals of RT's content. He has a legitimate interest in the games he's playing and wants to share them
I love these longform videos from RTGame so much. I got introduced to his more shortform videos on Minecraft and Cities Skylines and I enjoyed them, although tbh they didn't stand out too much from other CZcamsrs I watched like Vinny Vinesauce, Then RTGame started to do longer videos with a more chill pace that allowed both the games and himself to "breath" whilst still being cut down enough to get to the best bits (Shoutout to his editors for that!) if that makes sense. Really has elevated him as one of my favorite gaming CZcamsrs out there.
That's what's great about RT's brand! He has a genuine love for the games, even looking at the community build series he does: RT focuses on the genuinely good builds rather than the memes, and that helps push the community to keep being creative!
As a Utahn who hasn't played this game despite having a deep respect for it, I've REALLY enjoyed pausing to re-read all the lore reveals in this episode.
The creators for this DLC have plenty of knowledge on Utah's geography and mormon culture, and I like their interpretations of post-apocalype Utah. RT has really sold me completely on this game, even as old as it is now.
@@majestic_defaltto bad Hurricane isnt in the game cause i wouldve loved him and chat freaking out over how you actually say that towns name cause i promise you any non native Utahn just said that wrong
I'd like to point out, that convincing Joshua Graham to spare Salt-Upon-Wounds is one of the *HARDEST* Speech checks in the entirety of New Vegas. He is so blinded by rage, mourning and hatred that he has completely abandoned the values that he has sworn by in his religion, and you being there is the only reason that he doesn't descend into becoming a warlord.
I mean, doesn't the pacifist route of the final battle in the main game, require [Speech 100] already? It kinda makes sense that pacifist routes require putting a LOT of skill points in...
@@WackoMcGoose or 100 Barter, a true Charisma ending. Not sure I'd consider throwing somebody off a dam as pacifist though.

Joshua spitting Bible verses while the courier is high. This is the authentic honest hearts experience.
even funnier if you consider the origins of Joshua's name, related to Jesus (presumably)
@@hisupwassup and who tried to kill him and who he now leads
@@hisupwassup Yep. Yeshua (Hebrew) became Iesous (Greek) from the alternate spelling of Joshua. Iesous became Iesus (Latin) became Jesus.
Actually the authentic experience is downloading the Zion’s Fire mod and the voicelines expansion and romancing Joshua, but that is a close second
I am truly amazed by how this random irish guy whose Scribblenauts video got randomly recommended to me a couple of years ago turned out to be one of the most genuenly entertaining personalities I've ever seen. Without ever being obnoxious or forcing a joke.

10:45 There is a popular theory that “the school” mentioned by the kids was the X-8 research center at Big MT. Making “the Principal” Dr. Borous. Which would explain why they were so terrified of him, he unleashed Cyberdogs and Nightstalkers upon them while shouting angrily through the intercom.
Chris Avellone said this was false, but it's still a fun theory.
How would they have left Big Mountain?

@@primalforlorn The only problem is managing to *have* a brain
If I had to guess, I'd say the actual school is something akin to a Recreation School or whatever they were called. Where native american's were 'taught' how to not be savage in the eyes of the 'civilized'.
The story of Randall Clark is one of the best side stories in any media. Of course Honest Hearts is good, but that whole other story is just insanely good writing.

This is after "Le bomb, le killed people!"

Foreshadowing is sometimes very obvious
Pretending to be dead while having a severed arm and leg is the type of commitment I aspire to.
I think most doctors would just call that 'shock' to be honest.
I know he said 'final' for the next one because it was the last added and has thematics of being a Last Stand for the Courier, since there is technically one other one he hasn't done yet.
But also the idea that he's just saying Screw You to Dead Money is very funny.
I hope he does dead money. I know it got a lot of flack, but I really enjoyed it.
@zuerock4854 Oh, I hope he does it too; it's just a bit of an. Annoying one to play - drastic change to gameplay forced on the player never feels good, and it can be a bit slow. The story work is incredible, though.
@@zuerock4854Got to watch him steal all of them gold bars at the end too.

Judging by the thumbnail, the RT in RTGame stands for "Rip and Tear."
It actually stands for Ron Toppenheimer.
Rumble and Tumble until it is done.
it just stands for Rumble Tumble, in reference to the league of legends character Rumble.
If you had Wild Wasteland, White Bird's dialogue just goes "Take Drugs, Kill a bear!" When you do that quest😂
Your Oppenheimer play through has inspired me to pick up New Vegas again. I vote that you do a second play through but play as Barbie with high speech and changing your clothes every time you kill someone.
One of the really interesting things I remember from my playthrough of Honest Hearts was the reveal that the Sorrows latched onto Daniel's preaching's so easily because they equated the religious Father Daniel talked about with their Father in The Caves, and there's a dialogue option where you can reveal this to Daniel. Randall Clark isn't just a incredible side story, separate from the main quest, the Sorrows took their name from him, and he's tied to the religious themes of the DLC.
The Survivalist is one of my favorite characters in all of Fallout, if not my favorite. There’s just something satisfying about his story of beholding so much bad, so much wrong that humanity did to each other following the Great War, that him finally passing away after preparing the Sorrows for life(like the father he never got to be…) is amazing.
I think he is one of the few characters in Fallout to truly die *happy.*
❤
The story of the survivor is definitely one of the best in the lore. They make you feel for and root for this random guy just through some notes and scraps of paper from 200 years ago.
In one of the early streams I heard RT mention that he didn’t understand why the Brotherhood of Steel is so Goody-Goody in Fallout 3, and there actually is a pretty fun bit of info behind that. The original Elder of the Brotherhood traveled east as he got older, and as he did he started to mellow out. He didn’t necessarily immediately become super helpful or anything, but he became a lot less rash and harsh. Anyways because of this the Brotherhood varies heavily from coast to coast to coast as each side became more extreme versions of the long dead Elder that led them.
still stripped them of the cult like nature which sucks, just lost a large part of what makes them special, they ended up being enclave lite all the way to nice enclave lol
@@goopguy548 don’t worry they’re regressing back to cultlike but more extreme. Check out the series. They’re back to nutters
Imagine RTs reaction to the Midwest Brotherhood if he ever plays Fallout Tactics
I never got the insistence from some fans that the BoS in 3 had to be like the BoS of the previous games. There's significant time between the games (36 years between 2 and 3), and factions are not monolithic entities, they're just run by people. Things can change. If you go talking to the NPCs and reading the in-game lore, there's actually a lot of background that led to the BoS from 3 that we know.
No BoS Elder travelled east. The BoS council in Lost Hills (their original base) tasked a group, led by then Paladin Owyn Lyons, to travel east to scout DC, investigate super mutant activity, and reestablish contact with the eastern Brotherhood. Contact with the eastern Brotherhood failed, but they discovered the Pentagon and Liberty Prime, and Lyons was promoted to Elder and then tasked with establishing a permanent BoS base in the Capital Wasteland. As Elder Lyons found out more about the super mutants there he got more obsessed, eventually figuring that they were priority, and not the BoS's directive of technology recovery. This obsession led him to lie to the BoS council back in Lost Hills. He kept convincing them to send reinforcements and supplies to help with tech recovery while he put more and more effort into fighting the mutants and helping the people of the Capital Wasteland. This lie was eventually uncovered, and Lost Hills completely cut Lyons off for it. Cut off and waning in strength, people began to question Lyon's decisions, which led to many separating under leadership of Paladin Casdin. Lyons dubbed them the Outcasts, which they wore as badge of honor, and their departure and the great deal of supplies they took with them dealt a huge blow to Lyon's Brotherhood.
By the time the Lone Wanderer runs into Lyon's BoS they're cut off and stretched thin, but still dedicated to the goals of one man. I absolutely love NV more than 3 and 4, but Lyon's BoS in 3 makes perfect sense.
@@Skullhawk13 not as far as the games are going, fallout 4 was just dogshit with what they did to them and the show helped it a bit, fixing up what they completely wiped out in 4
18:00 that reminds me of the crossroads I encountered in Skyrim. First time I passed through there was a dead bear & dead wolf, just sitting there.
Second time, it was a dead bear, dead wolf, dead human and a dead spriggan. All the loot had respawned, too.
Third time was a dead bear, dead wolf, dead human, dead spriggan, dead hagraven and a dead dragon. Again, all the loot on the bodies had respawned. Oddly enough, the dragon didn't give me a soul.
Fourth time I passed through that crossroad, all the bodies suddenly came back to life and aggro'd on me, killing me near-instantly.
Oh Bethesda game engines, never change.
This'd be so fucking cool in a game where this was deliberate.
53:06 actually, getting the Legion dog brain actually has the smoothest transition for Rex. Since Rex used to be in the Legion (as shown by the red bull picture on him, Antony's dialouge, and the ending slide)
And regardless of which brain you choose, Rex's behavior remains largely the same
I thought the different brains gave Rex different stat bonuses, or something?
@@tbotalpha8133 oh, they absolutely do. More defense, more attack, that kind of thing. What I was talking about was the lore from the ending cutscenes about brain integration.
Also, Rex does not go out of control if you use the Legion brain, RT was straight up wrong about that
Huh that's explains why Rex attacks people in the hat

As someone who grew up in Utah its surreal to hear a story like the tapes for The Survivalist. In reality Ogden would be hit first by the nukes due to the airforce base, next the copper mines to kill a immense chunk of the US copper, gold, and silver resources, Salt Lake City would then be third followed by Provo (pro- vo as in vote wouldve loved to see Dan try to pronounce Hurricane as in Hurry without the y-eh-cane).
I doubt Spanish Fork would be far enough away from Provo to avoid immense radiation poisoning. Also know exactly where he buried his second wife next to the Narrows. Its a very beautiful spot in the real Zion Canyon
Right? Like when you think about how it's described you'd think bombs would basically be dropped from Ogden down to Provo. When most of the people who live in this state live in a line from North to South it feels like that's how it would be done.
You forget, it's told that House had an anti-air defense that took out some bombs before they hit the ground.
@@yomeny2 Sure, but Vegas is really far from those areas so I find it exceedingly unlikely he'd have taken any of those bombs out

cool thing i noticed, the white legs are called that because they reside in the great salt lake, so their legs are crusted white from walking the salt flats. theyre also a warring tribe becuase there isnt much of anything that grows or lives in the salt flats so theyll need to bring food to the salt flats to live there. even salt upon wound's power fist has this salt influence as its likely using great salt lake salt to inflict the debuff. i dont like this DLC much byt the influences that went into the tribes were really well thought out.
Some fun trivia. Joshua Graham I believe has 50 DT (Damage Threshold). Which means he has more armor than the most difficult death claws and even has more armor than god damn robots. Guys skin is made of something special
Surviving getting burnt alive and thrown off the grand canyon does that to you
Gameplay wise his armor gives 40 and his head cover 10.
It's made of nothing, I don't think he has much skin left aside from what you can see of his face.

If you take Rex's brain out and replace it with another, is it still Rex? This isn't a philosophical question. It's simple. The answer is no. Rex's original brain IS Rex. So once you trash that, he's dead.
funny how it seems like it's theoretically possible to have an ending where both the Courier and Rex no longer have their original brains lol
ive always assumed the container the original brain was kept in somehow dumps rex's personality and memories into the new brain, making it so the new brain has rex's memories and personality along with the other dog you took the brain from
while this is true, the game goes on to say that there are now two personalities in the new brain anyway - rex's and the brain's original owners'. must be the bio med gel doc henry was talking about somehow preserving rex's being. its definitely a cheap sci-fi cop-out, but if it gives rex a happy ending, can we really complain?
Joshua Graham is really cool and a good character for a lot of reasons, but can I just point out how much of a hyper-mormon he is? He comes from Salt Lake City in post-war Utah, goes to specifically Zion national park, as a missionary no less, frequently quotes Bible verses, and wields a Browning M1911, made by none other than great inventor, john Moses Browning, another Mormon. Dunno how much of the faith remains the same, but he's basically captain mormon
yeah the only possible way he could be more mormon is being named Nephi or Dallin
While Joshua Graham does have an interesting story, Randall Clark’s side story pretty much sells this entire DLC and is probably one of the best quests in the Fallout series.
Hoping Bethesda expands this even further when they come to remaking Fallout: New Vegas or a new Fallout game where we get to meet him in person.
I'm convinced you have a neural implant that predicts when any RT game video comes out
I doubt we’ll be meeting a dead man whose whole thing this that almost no-one ever saw him
I completely agree, it's honestly one of my favorite mini stories of all time not even counting the great gear it gives
Oh God no, the entire point of Randall Clark's story is that he's a dead man turned myth. Meeting him in person is one of the worst possible ideas I've ever heard for expanding on New Vegas. It sounds exactly like the kind of terrible writing choice modern Bethesda would make.
And by Bethesda, you mean Obsidian.
Never realised until now 22:04 "blessings of the father in the cave on you" does she mean the survivor that left those terminal entries?
Yeah she does, even the name of the sorrows probably comes from his last note to them where he says something about the sorrows that mankind inflicts on itself and the like. Their peaceful temperament is probably because he emphasized being kind to each other and all, idk why they forgot about the striking back in righteous anger part though.
@notyourbusiness2377 That I think is Daniel's fault mostly. Trying to get them to not fight like the good pure children of God they are. It was kinda funny playing this DLC with an ex-Mormon, he just would constantly tear into Daniel's ideals and how "Civilized Man's Burden" they are.
Randall Dean Clark is my favorite story in FNV and I will always love the struggle he went through to help out the people he could
Final DLC? Didnt he miss one? One full of fun fun fun? And... Gambling?!
Hes saving that one for the last because he said it's his favourite
God, the thing with Follows-Chalk is so true... It's so easy to mistake him for another White Leg, so seeing the message and getting the failures just comes as a "huuuh???" moment.
Followed by a reload in my case.
And then came the errands...
Now I am become Vegas, the destroyer of taxes
Those speech check on Joshua at the end were some real "kill every bad guy but oh no we need to spare their leader. All the other people we killed didn't matter, but we CAN'T KILL THEIR LEADER OH NO."
Sparing the leader is more to teach the sorrows temperance and measure in violence, so they know to be violent when needed, but to be merciful when violence is no longer necessary.
The other white-legs attacked them and kept fighting to their bitter end. The leader surrendered and was no longer fighting, so exiling him was enough (especially since everyone else was dead and there was no fear of retaliation anymore.
To be honest, the "moral choices" in Honest Hearts are really stupid.
Reminds me of a certain really bad sequel of a game that was really good at first
It’s mostly about bringing Joshua peace, and letting the sorrows know forgiveness. But make no mistake, killing him isn’t the wrong choice, it’s just a different choice.
54:45 Did he forget about the Dead Money DLC, or is RT intending to do it after Lonesome Road?
I like to think that Dan is the embodiment of Judge, Jury, and Executioner manifested into reality and is also the Warden of Time because of how many times he saves and reloads
I like to think he'd make a good incarnation for Doctor Who, personally
I feel like the most compelling part of honest hearts to me was having to figure out how to pare down my inventory for the weight limit
you can intimidate ricky into carrying your gear so you can take more, or pass a survival check to raise the limit a bit.

I still think fighting back against the white legs is the correct choice, as it's what the survivalist would have wanted. Be kind and gentle, but when someone comes for you strike back with righteous anger.

I've never played anything related to fallout, but it is pretty eerie hearing names of actual cities being in the lore of a game about the post apocalypse. The 2077 log talking about the nukes dropping in Salt Lake City... might as well prepare 53 years in advance (if i plan to stay).

5:32 I did the exact same, I saw him shoot that white leg so I thought he’s shooting at me so I killed him immediately
Love these videos so far, feels like having a friend who's 100% the game show you cool stuff they've found along the way, cant wait for the next DLC
“elvis shit”
that’s how he died :o
So happy to see you playing possibly one of my favourite games, definitely my favourite of the Fallout series, and also my favourite DLC. First time I played through it I teared up finding all the Survivalist's logs.
