I was tricked into doing this in youth group a long time ago. I thought it was something that made me more spiritual. The past 3 years Ive been un-learning a lot of false doctrine I was taught. Praise God for His grace, mercy and patience.

Amen, thank you Brother Corey. With respect a Pentecostal brother tried to explain to me that it is an "Angelic" language. My response was: "why do I need it"? as a child of God having received the gift of the Holy Spirit at my conversion, my Saviour the Lord Jesus Christ is my only Mediator to present all my needs to God the Father even before I ask or present it to Him. The nature of the gift of tongues shows that it was only temporary. Speaking in tongues was one of the “sign gifts.” These gifts were given for only a short period of time. Their purpose was to confirm the Word of God before there was written Scripture. Every occurrence of tongues in the Book of Acts was to authenticate the gospel message.

This is a good topic. I was once in the process of ordination through a denomination that required me to speak in tongues as evidence of the Holy Spirit in order to be ordained. So based on my Biblical understanding I would have to start speaking or praying in a different language that could be translated on the spot or share a Biblically private prayer language in order to “prove” the calling of God on my life, that is what the fruits of my life have already done.

My husband believes there were so many different languages, preachers traveled to preach, and they had to be a translator present! 🙏🏼🥰 Your show is awesome and a blessing! 🥰

As far as your question…”What am I missing out on? I need to know!”

Romans 8:26-27, According to this passage, the Holy Spirit is praying for the believer. The reason the Holy Spirit needs to pray for the believer is because of the believer's weakness in his prayer life. Being finite, the believer does not always know what his real needs are. The believer prays about what he thinks he needs, but he does not always know exactly what his true needs are, but the Holy Spirit always does. Because of the believer's weakness in his prayer life, especially as it relates to knowing what to pray for the Holy Spirit prays for the believer.

Thank you once again Corey for such a biblically sound teaching on tongues!!..I used to “speak gibberish “ Until the Holy Spirit lead me to the Truth🙌🏽… I pray that others hearts will be open to the Truth!…. And you really made me think, what is the benefit?🤔.. if people would really think about that, maybe they would be open to receive Truth!!!

Corey you are my favorite teacher! You have taught me so much it’s ridiculous! In unlearning some of the things taught in church that are unbiblical, my walk with Jesus has strengthened and I’m no longer confused! Thank you so much!!!!

All spiritual gifts are to benefit others (the church) not the individual with the gift.

Enjoyed this video. I'll say that my understanding of the benefit of tongues is it bypasses the errored conscious mind. Meaning there are things your spirit can pray for that you may not consciously think about or consider. It's self edification, (uttering mysteries). It's not required for salvation and there is no biblical evidence that it's required to receive the holy spirit. But it could be used a personal praying tool.

Biblical literate people as not all are bold or empowered to be witnesses. You need both literate and power. They both weapons why not use them all. I will agree that the church may not know how to properly operate the gift but that is a teaching issues not an issue of doing away with the gift. I pray that the eyes of your understanding be opened. I pray that you understand spiritual warfare.I beg God to empower you to prosper in this area🙏

We, who do not speak in tongues, do not speak in tongues because we did not receive the gift.

  • @jimmybedding1736

I have spoke in tongues for 32,years it came up out of me like a river of living water and I simply spoke it out - it was real and tangible - my testimony is this - I feel Gods presence when I do. It’s refreshing and helps me pray when I run out of things to say. That’s it. I agree most tongue talkers can be the most immature in doctrine and living the gospel. I know most Church groups and they have vast differences in practise - as for power 😂most tongue talkers I know lack it - you have to die to self to release the ‘power’😜

I feel like if you really wanted to know about speaking in tounges, you wouldnt make a video asking a bunch of strangers about it. Pray and ask God about speaking in tounges and the benefit of it. (Which its in the bible) God will answer. The bible does say ask and ye shall receive. And speaking in tounges is not the goal, recieving the Holy Ghost is, then tounges will follow. No human can just speak in tounges. Because it is a spiritual language

I pray in the English tongue often, though I prefer praying in my native tongue of Dutch. Does that count? 😅

Those are all the reasons I stop speaking in so called tongues. It’s another going to keep people scripturally ignorant and deceived.
