Cory, Stop obsessing! You're never gonna be able to explain this without the indwelling and the power of the Holy Spirit. Ask the Lord Jesus, not just God for it; once the Word opens up to you supernaturally, you will have spiritual knowledge and understanding and be able to explain in15 minutes. And yes, you'll speak in tongues and experience completely whqt it is to edify yourself. Repent of this vanity, and with all humility, ask Jesus to help your unbelief.

Watching the replay. In one of my friend's church they have on the wall Love God, Love yourself, love others. Well the issue is we are not to love ourselves. We are to deny ourselves. And it just baffles my mind at the "educated" people who attend this church. The pastor is more of a coach. Sorry I'm ranting.

  • @WalkerJani

The text clearly states it edifies yourself. The thing people are so clueless about, is Edifying yourself is a BAD thing. God wants u to edify the church and others not yourself.

Excellent teaching! This is the most accurate teaching on tongues in the Bible that I have seen in a while. God bless you brother.

Edify yourself -Build yourself on your most holy faith praying in the Holy Ghost.

  • @Mike91672

Corey's passion for the word of God is amazing! We can see you have the Holy Spirit Corey! God bless you brother!

  • @ljdrew3233

I take edifying yourself as a positive “ I pray in tongues more than all of you” Paul would not admit to speaking in tongues or encourage others to do it , if it was a negative thing

  • @DiariesofEden

Any body that is having a hard time understanding this, is because they have no interest in truly knowing what the word is saying to us. Like wow! This study literally whooped me 😩 and I’m so grateful for it!

  • @NathanAHogan

Why am I starting to feel like this is an attack against those who authentically speak in tongues???

  • @ljn1477

tongues are real. what isnt real is that a person is able to speak german, italian, hebrew, or greek out of the blue. how is a person edified if they know not what they are saying?

  • @rjc9537

Praying in the spirit should be seen as the same as walking or living in the spirit, which means….

You are so patient Cory. These people are not interested in learning. They haven't given one Scripture to support them being disagreeable. This is why we linger in our ignorance. I was the very same way for many years. I hated to think that tongues weren't right. I prayed the most heart-felt prays to God for family and myself. We must be willing to change our mind to support the Truth of Scripture when we learn that we are in error. It takes being willing to abandon our own ways and thoughts when we are presented with truth.

I really enjoyed this session, Corey. It has cleared up some confusions I had regarding speaking in tongues [glossolalia]. My confusion was with whether or not a congregant can justly speak aloud in church in an unknown tongue, with no interpretation from anyone. I have always felt that it should not be --- as some pastors have preached --- while others have said it is the Holy Spirit giving utterance.

You can’t pour from an empty cup. In your personal time with God you MUST be built up and prepared before you can edify others. We can’t solely rely on others to build us up. We need a personal relationship with Him as well and in due time if it is his purpose, He will give you that gift and all this nonsense will be out the window.
