    Remember: canon is kinda… flexible. The galaxy is a big place, with a lot of history. Things fall through the cracks, only to re-emerge when least expected. It’s not just that Games Workshop wants to give themselves wiggle room to retcon things, it’s the nature of the twisted world they’ve built. If things got too clearly defined, it might make it too easy to come up with a solution to their problems ;) nothing like some confusion to breed conflict.

    Stuffs does get made in 40k, as long as they still have the STC (a scifi template that help assemble the parts together).
    For example, the Titans (the giant mechs shown in the video) are still being produced very slowly and only on specific planet with the associated STC and manufacturing facilities. Certain types and variants of these Titans can no longer be made because that specific planet get destroyed or they somehow lost access to that STC.
    Of course, new inventions still exist but very rare. The only real innovator in the Imperium is a techpriest named Belisarius Cawl. Even then his ideas are controversial since the techpriests religion believe in "All knowledge and ideas already exist, and we just need to find them. AKA finding lost STC from the golden age." So to think of new ideas to them is a big no-no. It's like "Your new gun isn't invented by God? That's heresy!"

    Wut? The Emeperor didn't decree no more technology or innovation. He declared no AI.
    A void shield is basically want they put on starships. It's not a classic shield, it doesn't not create an energy barrier that blocks/absords bits. It creates a barrier of...well.. warp/hell that basically teleports energy/bullets that collide with it to hell. LITERALLY.

    its not that new stuff gets not created but the techpriests, have to greenlit it ( bureaucracy may strech this part into the thousends of years and it might even get lost) and it cant have ai in it, weapons are build all the time (even titans) but it depending how complex can take ages. the most preferent problem is that it has to be at leas based on existing STC (standart templet constructs) to not be called tech heresy from the start. Invention exists but is slow and under much scrutiny. sorta like how the church seen it in the darkages .

    40k CRASH COURSE! HERE! WE! GO!
    1) The Realm of Souls - All life in the galaxy that has a soul projects their emotions, thoughts and desires into The Realm of Souls. It was a place of harmony and literally where you soul goes when you die.
    2) The War in Heaven - The Old Ones (first race) and their enemies the C'tan wage war. The Old Ones create multiple new races to help in this war, like the Krorks and Aldari. The C'tan used trickery to enslave a race called the Necrontyr by promising them immortality, in reality they turned them into robots made of living metal and eat their souls.
    3)The C'tan win but still loose - C'tan kill and consume nearly all Old Ones and many other lesser races, but at their moment of triumph they start trying to consume each other. The Silent King, leader of the Necrontyr, had managed to keep his mind along with others of great will. The Silent King took control of all Necrontyr and shattered the C'tan in that moment. The Necrontyr then went into underground 'Tomb Complexes' to wait and recover.
    4) The Realm of Souls is Twisted - As mentioned, The Realm of Souls is the place where all thought and feeling is projected as well as the place all souls go when they die. The War in Heaven resulted in the so much horror, bloodshed, disease, pain, and so many souls were eaten that the Realm began to twist and deform. This created pockets of pure concepts such as, Hate, Deceit, and Plague. The first 3 chaos god were born at this time based on those 3 concepts. Khorne of Blood, Battle, and Rage. Tzeentch of Deceit and Scheming. And Nurgle of Rot, Decay, and Pestilence. From these pockets the first daemons emerged, permanently changing the Realm of Souls from heaven to the now hellish Warp.

      @charlesdaugherty321 Před rokem +1

      5)The Krork go feral and Aldari expand - The Krork, who were built only to fight the C'tan and Necrontyr, suddenly found nothing to fight and so turned on themselves. The Krork need strong opponents as part of their growth cycle and so began to devolve, becoming Orks. Meanwhile the Aldari expanded and looted as much of the Old Ones tech as they could, creating their own Webway. The webway is a giant network of pocket dimensions separate from both real space and the realm of souls, now Warp.

      6)Humans and the Birth of Big E. - Millenia had passed from the end of the war till the first upright ape of earth existed. Early in its existence (roughly 10,000 b.c.) human psychers came into existence. As with all psychers, they quickly drew the attentions of Warp daemons and other predators. To protect humanity a ritual suicide was performed that repressed the psycher gene and coalesced the energy into one soul. That was the birth of the emperor. He does nothing but sit on his ass for about 25 thousand years...

    • @charlesdaugherty321
      @charlesdaugherty321 Před rokem +1

      7a) Golden/Dark Age of Technology - Humanity, while a young race, developed quickly due to the fact that we did not have psycher tech to distract us at this point (this is the real reason the Tau are fucked in the near future, they are fallowing the same path). As humanity began to experiment with wardrives they found the twisted Warp was near impossible to travel in but because of the necessity they did anyway. 1/10 voyages just vanished, 7/100 went mad, 1/10 get lost and only about 1/10 make it safe. Due to this scientists developed something called the Geller Field, this allowed a ship to be wrapped in a pocket of 'reality' and protect the crew from the horrors of the Warp. With warp travel becoming more save than not (8/10 make it), humanity was able to begin is mass expansion and technological boom.
      7b) The War Against The Men of Iron - The STC or Standard Template Constructs, are hyper advanced AI. They were put on every colony ship and hooked up to mass factory complexes to build everything a colony would need. These STCs were a mix of Governor and Historian, recording the colonies history, coordinating trade with other colonies, organizing supplies and populations. These STCs controlled nearly everything... Including production of military vessels and combat robots. Yeah... That didn't go well.
      7c) The Xenos Betrayal - Humanity quickly responds all nearly all STCs go rogue simultaneously, releasing weapon vaults to the local populations on all worlds. This war sundered trade stations, glassed garden and agricultural worlds, and reduced humanities population by more than half. Humanity realizing how bad the situation was, call on all treaties they had with all nearby Xenos races. The Aldari laughed saying it was our own fault, while other races took the opportunity to raid human worlds for tech and slaves. The Emperor saw this and began to rage. Humanity won in the end but was crippled.

    • @charlesdaugherty321
      @charlesdaugherty321 Před rokem +1

      8) Old Night - As if things could not get worse for humanity, a sudden influx of warp storms, that reduced safe warp travel to near 0%, cut off all trade lanes. Many human worlds were entirely dependent on their neighbors for food or machines. This caused many human colonies to straight up fail and others to regress and become primitives. Earth, now called Terra, was crippled by this as it had become a planet sized ghetto and relied on other worlds for nearly everything. It was now that the emperor began moves in the background to save humanity.
      9) Fall of the Aldari - The real reason they reject the human call to arms was they were too busy being BDSM freaks... The debauchery was so intense, in such a small condensed, that the Warp resonated and gave birth to the 4th Chaos God. This god was Slaanesh, Man-Woman obsessed with all things in excess. Pain, Pleasure, Food, Drink, Drugs, Torture, Music. If it is in excess he/she is happy. This event killed 99% of all Aldari as Slaanesh consumed the souls of all in range. The only ones safe were the ones in the Webway, The Dark Eldar (who are even worse than the people who made Slaanesh), and the Craftworld Eldar who had fled to edges of the galaxy in giant ships because they disliked the never ending orgy. The Birth of Slaanesh also created something called the Eye of Terror, a hole in reality that lets the warp bleed into real space, and blew away the warp storms that caused Old Night.
      10) Rise of The Imperium - The Emperor finally makes his move and begins mass production of soldiers (Thunder Warriors, early prototype space marines) and unifies the barbaric hordes that had formed after the fall of civilization on Terra. He orders the destruction of all churches and religions as he knows this is what lead to the fall of the Aldari and Old Night. This only takes a few years and he quickly begins his 'Primarch Project' on Luna. He creates 20 super humans from his own dna and encodes each of them with a specific role in his coming Imperium. As he awaits their completion in their gestation pods the 4 Chaos gods, angry about his plans to end the faith they feed upon, take his sons (tanks and all) and scatter them across the stars. The Emperor has to jump start his expansion plans to try and get them back. He brings in the Tech Priests Mars without enforcing the No Faith rule because he needs their tech. He launched The Great Crusade to find the lost Primarchs and reunite all lost human worlds.

      11) Primarchs - Big E directed his armies and navy across the starts looking for his lost sons. First found is Horus Lupercal, Primarch of the Luna Wolves. He quickly became the Emperors most beloved son. Second is Leman Russ of the Space Wolves, He is Space Viking moving on. Third found was of the 2nd Legion, records delete by Big E himself. Fourth was Ferrus Manus, Primarch of the Iron Hand, He and tech priests were in love. Fifth was Fulgrim of The Emperors Children, He was Fabio. Sixth was Vulcan of the Salamander, He just wants to give you a BIIIIG HUG! Seventh was Rogal Dorn of the Imperial Fists, emotionless fortifier. Eighth was Roboute Guilliman of the Ultramarines, damn smurfs. Ninth was Magnus the Red of the Thousand Sons, he did nothing wrong. Tenth was Sanguinius of the Blood Angels, fabulous hawk boy. Eleventh was Lionel Johnson of the Dark Angels, comatose. Twelfth was Perturabo of the Iron Warriors, only competent primarch. Thirteenth was Mortarian of the Death Guard, body odor issues. Fourteenth was Lorgar Aurelian of the Word Bearers, its all his fault. Fifteenth was Jagatai Khan of the White Scars, sanic. Sixteenth was Konrad Curze of the Night Lords, batshit insane. Seventeenth was Angron of the War Hounds, more batshit insane than Konrad. Eighteenth was Corvus Corax of the Raven Guard, hot topic shopper. Nineteenth was of the 11th Legion, records deleted by Big E himself. Last/first found was Alpharius Omegon of the Alpha Legion, we are Alpharius.
      12) The Horus Heresy - Due to the many different educations and problems each primarch had as a result of chaos scattering them Big E decided to put Horus in charge of the Great Crusade and return to terra to make a human version of the Webway. This was to remove chaos influence as much as possible. However it was too late, because Big E kept chaos and the gods a secret even from his own sons 10 fell to chaos. Horus lead a majority of his forces to Terra and began a siege that would end only when Horus received word that loyalist reinforcements were on the way.
      To not loose his opportunity, Horus lowered the shield on his flagship, The Vengeful Spirit, so as to allow The Emperor to teleport on board. The Emperor took the chance to end it, not knowing help was coming. With his two sons Rogal Dorn and Sanguinius, and their cohorts, they boarded. They didn't get teleported to the same parts of the ship however leading to a mad dash for the bridge before they were overwhelmed. First to arrive was Sanguinius, who begged his brother Horus to stop his madness. Horus killed Sanguinius just as the Emperor arrived, The Emperor and Horus spoke and fought. Big E refusing to deliver a killing blow, was slowly broken down, loosing his eye, an arm, and having his back broken. It was then that a random Guardman, a damn nobody, stepped in front of Horus refusing to let his Emperor die. When Horus struck this man he was vaporized, but it had rallied others to charge him. Seeing his son strike a mortal with such contempt made The Emperor realize his son was already gone, and she unleashed is full psychic might destroying Horus, body and soul. The traitor legions fled to the Eye of Terror, while the emperor was put on god couch life support.

      13) 10,000 years of regression - Most of the primarchs are missing or dead. Technology that has been breaking down as it is so old no one can fix it anymore. The Emperor who was massively anti-religion because it feeds chaos, is now worshiped as "The God Emperor of All Mankind". It is a slip-n-slide covered in chipotle aftermath.
      14) Currently - The Necrons are back and are killing everything on their tombworlds. The Orks are starting to evolve back into Krork because of the constant fighting against great enemies. A new species called the Tyranids are showing up from beyond the galactic rim and eat EVERYTHING! Another new race called the Tau is only a few thousand years into their space age, extremely tech savvy, and are falling into the same trap as humanity did before the men of iron and old night.
      15) Screw everything Cawl. Shoot the Eldar on sight, I don't care that Roboute has a Eldar wifu, shoot her too. Cadia Stands!
      Now you are current with 40k. Fill in the Gaps yourselves.

    So to sum it up during the ((dark days of humanity)) where human progress and development was so advanced even races like the eldar and even the orks respected humanity due to just how advanced we as a species become where our wars, chores and life was run by robots, however due to lost knowledge what is m ow was that humanity’s robots turned against their creators, from every humanoid to the largest of starships turned against humanity to the point of near extinction, however the robots were eventually destroyed and defeated, humanity would start to rebuild and grow from the ashes only to be Royally skrewed over by the eldar, both metaphorically and literally, where magicians started to appear, alien races would enslave or destroy e fire human worlds all the while humanity’s FTL was as good as useless and anyone who was stupid enough to try and use FTL would be wiped from existence and so when the emperor came into power In order to slow down humanity’s progress as well as to prevent another cyber rebellion, the emperor declared all AI to be forbidden and so humans were used as a stop gap since humans aren’t AI and can’t hack or control other machines, meant that they were ideal as a substitute for hardrives and circuit board’s, as for imperial technology, they valued durability and sustainability over all else which is why their war gear looks cheap and nasty compared to some of the equipment some of the other races of humanity could produce such as the squats or the olamic quatude whose technology would out do any of the 40K races where even the tau would look like Stone Age primitives compared to the quiatude where they had weapons that could one shot a space marine and soldiers that would make even an astartes look weak by comparison, they were highly advanced, however lacked the raw brutality and warrior culture of the imperium where even the sharpest swords can be rendered useless when being grinded over time and for each enemy super soldier there were a hundred space marines, and unlike the modern imperium where each chapter holds anywhere up to a hundred active marines, during the crusade they were legions where each legion had at least over ten thousand active marines In a single engagement, all the while being supported by advanced mechanicus war suits and even drones, as well as several titan legions where unlike the modern imperium where a titan legion is broke. Up into Demi legions of up to twenty titans, during the crusade a battle might have over a hundred titans on a single planet.

    Basically during the dark age of technology (scientifically it would be considered a golden age, but they view it as a dark age because it was so long ago and almost legend in the current timeline) they created most of the technology to defend their Imperium, eventually leading to complacency to a point where AI innovations revolted against their creators, like Skynet from Terminator. In fear of this happening again, AI was forever outlawed. With the heavy zealoutry and bounding to tradition, with seeing the emperor of mankind as a god, being the last thing he would have actually wanted for his people (which is an entirely new topic altogether) merely to keep themselves alive from the galaxy's threats, they even go as far as to have most machines that would otherwise be better controlled by AI being controlled by human brains, like servo-skulls or dreadnoughts.
    Warhammer 40k is most definitely a story of a time of decay and stagnation rather than a glory age of technological advancement, it's like the hellish aftermath of your typical sci-fi technocracy universe after shit really starts to hit the fan.

    Iirc it's not that tech is banned, prior to the horus heresy all tech construction was automated, and research and development was almost exclusively ai/specialist. Nearly all of which was destroyed during or fell into disrepair after the horus heresy. It's not that they weren't allowed, it's that no one knows how. And so Mars rose as the predominant researcher of tech that is now as well understood as if we were to find something made by ancient hyper advanced beings.
    This has also negatively effected the chapters as i believe the emperors gene seed has been defiled? memory is hazy on this point so i'm not fully certain, but i believe that's why new space marines can't be made, unless that just effected new primarchs? Regardless. this is THE event that led to all races having very likely zero chance at surviving long term. and all cause Horus had to go and trust some future visions by tzeench. Didn't tell him "this is the future IF you betray".

    i'm 2 months late, but no, the Emperor is very debatably a very bad man. Horus speaks a lot of truth, his father did steal power from the gods to create his sons with no intention of repaying his debt, and just forcing his sons to deal with it after never telling them about it. there's a lot he failed to tell his sons that would have changed the course of everything. "daddy isssues" is a meme for this trailer, but even though he's been brought over to Chaos, Horus has a lot of legitimate reasons to hate his father and be furious towards. The emperor being killed off very well could be the only thing that could have saved humanity, but after the events of the Heresy, him dying won't necessarily be a good thing any more
