Aww don't be sad about anyone in this story. They're all bad guys anyway, because there is no such thing as the good guys in Warhammer 40k.
That is debatable. The Astartes are essentially angels created by the god emperor of man, they fight for humanity.
They may do things that are dubious like destroy entire worlds but they do it when they need to in order to stop demonic incursions.
The final scene 12:04 is what can happen to a world when an incursion flies under the radar.
No one is good but not all are evil.
Tyranids are the least evil.
They just hungry...

There's plenty of good guys in the setting. There's just no good faction.

This whole Animation was done by one single person. Who has since been employed by Games Workshop, the creators of the whole Warhammer Franchise. He is working on an official Animation movie right now.

@@niravathu7353 yes and no. there are some fan projects that get killed, usually those that don't have that much traction, unfortunately. and some get scooped up, sort of. I was a long time patreon subscriber of the astartes project, and while his page has since been deactivated, the last couple posts he made were optimistic. I still have hope that not everything the big corpos do is bad. :D
There probably won't be a next one. Games Workshop did what Games Workshop did best, produce no content despite their being a huge market and desire for it, and when people come to fill that niche they take them down and claim ownership for themselves, making stupid modifications to his work and to stuff on their paywalled streaming platform no one wants and everyone hates.
Apparently he was hired by Games Workshop but all his social media is dead, no twitter activity since march 2021, instagram deleted, and youtube video was taken down, and he has only liked some things on linkedin over 5 months ago with no mention of a job role at GW so my guess is they shafted him or forced him to sign some kind of agreement then fucked him over. Again, just typical GW things.

Ehhh, while definitely a rebellion affiliated with something inhuman, it's a bit much to assume they serve chaos. To some extent you can understand, but any faction taking marching orders from a non-human in 40K are probably being manipulated and used as fodder. The times when humans and alien civilizations worked at an accord was millenia ago in-universe, and for good reason. One literally depraved a god into existence, another genocided the original progenitor race and got turned into soulless death machines, a third is literally made for violence and only understands it, the recent addition of space dwarves in the Leagues of Votann at least has a semi-neutral race, to humanity, but then you have the tyranids that are a essentially cosmic-scale locusts and xenomorphs/zerg on crack and the perfidy of the tau empire, which tries to be The Federation ala Star Trek but ends up being communistic/caste-based technophiles that expunge anything that cannot be assimilated and rendered subservient to their almighty ideals of "The Greater Good."
Hell, At least with Chaos it follows the pattern of "we face our own demons."

Neat detail in the character designs: the psyker 'twins' more than likely were _actual_ twins if you look at their design. Each only has one arm, and they're on opposite sides. They were probably born conjoined and then separated...and that's probably the most normal procedure they had done, given what they look like now.

My favorite animation, it’s so bad ass. I want a whole ass video game or movie like this. Pretty sure everyone feels the same as her too, we all want more of astartes
From what I have learned about this animation,
-The chapter of space marines it follows are one the creator created called the Retributors with being known for the trait of being relentless and more about success then glory.
-- Makes sense in the animation as you never really see them stop moving forward or pushing the enemy.
- The humans they are fighting appear to be some sort of cult either controlled by the Orb creatures(No one really knows what they are for sure) or they are treating it like a deity.
- 01:53 The two big guys with the force-field powers appear to be psykers, think Sci Fi magicians.
- 06:04 There is another similar orb creature on the space marines ship that has been captured.
- 06:19 The guy kneeling infront of is part of the Inquisitors and is also a psyker.
- 07:16 the golden statue no one knows for sure what it is meant to be, possibly a body for the orb creatures to posses/use
- 07:16 More spine devices you see on the two psykers, possible with the intent to make more.
- 08:03 The orb creature on the cult ship appears to be trying to get into the minds/manipulate the Astartes or control them but they resist it's influence.
- 08:41 these devies they stab into the orb are likely so the inquisitor Psyker on the other ship can "eavesdrop" on the conversation of the two orbs.
- 09:29 the orbs communicate with each other while.
-- Cult Orb: "who is here? I have failed"
-- Captured Orb: "We have all failed, the Astartes defy our touch"
-- Cult Orb: "We must return, break your seal.
-- Captured Orb: "It's impossible, we will never survive"
-- Cult Orb: "You must, take the alpha"
- 09:57 Inquisitor: Recall them immediately!
- 10:03 due to his break in concentration he becomes possessed either by the Orb or by the Warp which Psykers draw their power from.
-- Captured Orb: At last ?????
- 10:26 Psykers going psycho/possessed which is a very bad thing in this universe, extremely dangerous. Hence why the Astartes "deal with the problem" promptly and without hesitation.
- 10:50 Astartes get captured/transported by the orb to someplace else, no one knows for sure where.
- 11:10 Badass overloads his plasma pistol turning it into a grenade and blows his own hand off.
- 11:45 Not sure what happens here, some people imply the orb creature is attacked by another entity or killed, or is a result of a backlash as a result of the capture orb being killed 10:09 when those devices activate.
- 12:00 Astartes vomits blood, due to their modifications their blood coagulates quickly hence why you see those blobs of blood instead of liquid blood, just an interesting detail.
- 12:05 those pins on his temple represent years of service, someone more knowledgeable then me can tell you what each one represents in terms of years. Either way the guy is a veteran and older than most humans.
- 12:31 you see flashes of light on the other pillars, likely the other captured Astartes arriving at their destination.
All in all this video is hugely detailed, even down to things most don't notice like the slight detent of the two stage trigger pull of their bolters at 04:01

As for the pins, I've read several places that each one stands for 50 years in service.

I was cheering for the Imperium the entire time as I know everyone else is far worse.
Well Orks just want to have fun, from their perspective they're pretty "good" as are the Tau, they even dare to talk to you before they attack you and give the chance to survive and you will have a pretty okayish life if you accept the greater good, I think even as Gue'vesa they have a better life than in many astra companys.
@@LordEladan I would say brainwashing is pretty evil. At least with the Imperium, so long as you say and do the right things and keep your head down, there won't be problems for you. You don't have to truly worship the God Emperor, you just have to go through the motions. Do that and the Inquisition will leave you alone.
I still say the animation could do with some subtitles for that bit when the two alien orbs are talking and the robed guy is listening in as a lot of folks dont even know they ARE talking first time watching as the audio is so distorted at that part but here is a quick/rough run down of what is said.
Orb 1 "Who is there?"
Orb 2 "we...we have failed... they have resisted my touch"
Unknown which one "We Must Survive"
Orb 1 "you must take them!"
then the robed guy says something like "recall them immediately!"

@@travzac619 anyone who would consider joining chaos needs perspective on what they're getting into. I don't pull punches. They like Night Lords I propose Baldermort's Introduction to the Night Lords. They like the iron warriors I show them Daemonculaba, hell, The imperium aren't saints and I'm happy to point out the inquisition's tendency to put entire populations in concentration camps and sterilize people. This galaxy is besotted with vile people, and if people aren't reminded of that you end up getting deluded idiots arguing for female space marines despite the sisters of battle being a thing.
So Erinya, I recomend watching the Helsreach series, its another animation series involving the Warhammer 40k universe, and a really good one.

Always struck me as a tad disappointing how the marines are shown as unstoppable juggernauts, when they routinely are bodied by anything, from ambitious infantrymen to the local wildlife, in the lore. "Astartes" feels bland because there is no tension. The marines shrug off attacks without so much as the paint on their armor being chipped. Meanwhile, some mold can eliminate entire companies of marines by ignoring physics.

Just guessing here, but he might have did that on purpose. Show how strong they are here and in the next one show how dangerous the universe is.
Maybe because that's what they're bred to be? Anything that tries to kill an Astartes, including the examples you gave, pays a heavy toll before one of them gets through. That's not bodying nor is it really routine. It does happen sometimes though.
In all fairness, the traitor guard here were packing damn autoguns, an autocannon, and a single mobile repeater laser gun. The las repeater certainly caused heat-melting in their armor, but most of the attacks aimed at them were either low or no-penetration and low strength in the overall scale the 40K universe acts on. A boltgun like what the marines are using? It was popping heads and cutting men in half and that's generally listed as S4.
The average Ork hits in melee at S4 with a rusty cleaver. A plasma pistol like what the sergeant of those marines was using hits at S7/8.
It's not that marines are fragile, it's that everything else is almost laughably lethal. Basic humans are a remarkably durable organism IRL. In 40K they are one of the squishiest things to exist. Space Marines are very much punching down here, and that's why it feels like a curbstomp.
