Occy and have moved into my van to join the van life movement in Australia, allowing me to live, work and travel full time! We are currently overlanding outback Australia 🙌🏼

Just a tip Max, if you get another flat tyre on the rear and the jack is not working, just put a rock / log under the other tyre and drive up onto it, it will lift the other tyre off the road so you can change it.
Okay this is wayyyy too simple an answer and how the hell didn’t I think to do this 😅😅😅
But at the same time the wheel nuts were over tightened (by the mechanic) so I think I actually needed that heavy duty socket wrench to move them.
I tried for hours (off camera ha) and they wouldn’t budge!
@@MaxandOccy a 2-3foot long piece of pipe that can fit over your tyre leaver would help with the over tightened nuts.. I had a 4wd and often had the wheel nuts get tight making them a pain to get off.. having a breaker bar to call on ended up being a very useful tool.. mine would also fit over the jack handle so again having that long handle made jacking it up faster and meant i didn't have to get in under the thing to jack it up.
@@MaxandOccy
BAD ADVICE!!! Don't ever do that especially with a heavy weight vehicle and especially on sand/ mud. You're risking your life. Infact mechanics here in Florida refused to lift my van with a jack unless meant for heavyweight because can EASILY slip.
@@shac9131 There is a very big difference between city and bush fixes. Rolling the rear inside wheel up onto a sloped rock, maybe 6cm, giving the tire enough clearance to be changed (keeping in mind that there is another tire there on the inside as well) is 100% safe and a great option to change a duel outside tire. The van won't flip and no one will die BUT...and here is the good part, you will be able to change your tire. Experience is everything when driving in remote locations. And yes, always carry a 3ft metal pipe tucked away somewhere in the van to use as a leverage tool.
@@jamesmazurstudios
Ok if you say so. But I wouldn't do it unless stranded in a emergency
I love how Occy just lives his life - "Flat tire? Meh, i'm going to play with my plushy". It warmes my heart to see such happy doggo. Especially, after i lost my buddy, who traveled with my also. Thank you for your movies, they are very soothing.
Good on you max and occy for raising money for suicide prevention I’ve struggled the last couple years with bad mental health and been down the road of attempted suicide and since I’ve found your channel you’ve helped me a lot and inspired me to buy a van in the coming months to get out there and do what your doing, since December 2021 I’ve basically been homeless I’m lucky enough to have a amazing girlfriend and her family has welcomed me into their house with an open mind and open arms and kept me off the streets and put me in a safe place where I can work on my mental health and get my life together again, thanks again max and occy
Max, thank you for the major amount of ❤️Occy cam❤️.
Y’know, this is how most Americans picture Australia. Well that, and surfing. And Chris Hemsworth. Plus a bonkers number of killer bugs, animals and reptiles everywhere that Australians don’t seem to mind.
Filming sponsor ads without your shirt is one way to get a large segment of your audience to watch a sponsor advert, although I can’t guarantee we weren’t a bit distracted during it.😜
👀😅
Lucky you were rescued by someone with the right equipment. Australia is an amazing place. My daughter and son in law moved from Canada to Mt. Isa. The people are great and the places they have seen are unique. Enjoy your country and be safe.
Certainly lucky for it to happen first time.! Was well equipped to wait if need be though : ) 💛
We sure are great alright, I live here at Mt. Isa 😊
Max I'm glad you appreciated my comment on your last posted video. Well deserved, truly. I've followed your posts since the beginning and your travels have blessed you in multiple ways: you've become a master story teller/filmmaker; you've found and faced your demons; Lots of us make the mistake of seeing 'problems' as obstacles to security. When in fact, these challenges are a key part of this exhilarating, lovely, heartbreaking and amazing adventure. I like to think that before we were born, as soul tourists in this galaxy, we each chose our life, our adventure journey. And so, we are marvelous works in progress, as our adventures here, call out our best and bravest selves.
Beautifully said
I can remember first watching you and Lee climb the Andes and dive in oceans. I know your heart is broken and I so applaud and appreciate what you do to advocate for mental health. My situation was a bit different in that you and Lee and Occy got me through cancer and a very debilitating accident. This adventure is so wonderfully awesome and your skill-set is just beyond everything it was years ago. I just want to thank you because after all I have come to love you and your dog.
Agree with your Sentiments 100 percent..... Max and Occy Rock, and we all miss LEE dearly!!!
Hey Max. A good lesson. When you take your van to a mechanic most will use a rattle gun that is far too strong for the wheel nuts. Before leaving the shop have them back off each nut then tighten each by hand. Simple yet functional.
Good tip!
Exactly. It is impossible for a regular driver to undo the bolts tightened by mechanics.
Great tip two good dogs, this happens a lot with tyre shops/mechanics tightening too tight!
there are angels in the outback .. you've grown so much as a man in the past year .. I find it amazing that someone who was so handsome has blossomed into a being with so much light around him.. you've been through alot and your character shines Max... great video
Amazing country to see. Thanks for taking us along. As long as Occy has his toys and finds fun things to play with you can tell he is loving the adventure. Occy is the best co pilot. Stay safe out there and good travels. Can't wait to see what is next.
No doubt Oc is the best copilot there ever was Zanne! 💛
Loving seeing you and Occy live the life you dream of. Lee would’ve loved this, today marks 10 years since my friend took his life, wherever he/Lee is I just hope they’re happy and content. 😞
Lee would indeed have loved this adventure.
@@sydney6916 opinions are like assholes, everyone has one. Some are stinky compared to others, Dave’s opinion is like diarrhoea, he should really hold it in but can’t help it 😂. It’s runny, stinky and unappealing.
Thanks for letting me see Australia through your eyes! I love that I can follow along. Be smart, be safe, HAVE FUN!!!
Being stuck in the middle of nowhere while enjoying freedom is to be exactly at the right place. ¡¡Pura Vida!! From the other side of the world.
Well said!
Bravo! What an adventure! I always love seeing Occy's antics. Thank you for sharing your travels. Stay safe and well. ❤️
Thank you Stephanie! 💛💛
Having someone come up on you with everything you needed like that is not accidental or coincidental... ❤️
Thank you for sharing your adventures!!
Loving this adventure, your navigator is so cool! While you are getting down and dirty with that tire he is trotting around playing with his toys…….priceless🥰
We all need to be more like Occy 💛
Great video Max, love seeing Occy loving his life.
Thanks Christine! 💛
@@MaxandOccy im not sure about what the situation is but it would help to shave Okkys main now and again
@@patrickw3144 Do not shave Occy. Because the heat he is troubled by comes from his feet and mouth, a dog does not sweat, all he needs is a (slow) cool down in a river, the sea or whatever cool water place. It is the responsibility of the owner to keep your dog NOT OVERHEATED. If you shave your dog, he can get sunburned also. I think Max does know what is best for Occy, his soulmate.
I loved this Journey your taking to the heart of Australia I loved how you didn't overly stress about the flat tire and took it as it comes I have this saying this to shall pass when things get rough .The scenery and music choices are beautiful thank you for showing me part of my homeland ❤️
How scary was that? No way would I cross Australia on my own.
Love the way you show us where you are on the map. Helps to get an idea of the scale of your journey.
Glad you enjoyed the map addition. Will try to include them more often from here on out!
How beautiful is Occy ! OH my heart!! 💓🐶
My daughter lives in Australia my oldest daughter moved there 15 years ago to get married she lives in Atherton now, she has two daughters since divorced but she loves Australia! Hi found your channel because I am subscribed to Eamon and Bec.. I love Occy🐶 I have a Cairn named Otis he is 5 1/2.. I live in Massachusetts.. I am a grandmother; I just applaud everything that you are doing I also lost my husband in 2014 the grief lessens but it never goes away; you kind of adjust to a new normal. Have a blessed day and stay safe, may the Lord guide you in all that you do🌺🌺❌⭕️❌⭕️🐶Otis and me
Max, thanks for the lovely video. And thanks for being you. And thanks for all you do to to raise awareness about mental health. I am a psychologist living in India. Currently in Sri Lanka and looking at ways to contribute towards greater mental health in developing countries. ❣️🌺❣️🌺
Appreciate you in return Grace!! Thank you 💛
Another beautiful video, Max! You really do put out such a positive, kind message to the world. Thank you for sharing your adventures! 💛
Thanks Cindy! 💛
Honestly, Occy has the kindest face on a dog I’ve ever seen. He’s so freaking adorbs. About fixing things in your van, what are things you’ve fixed so far?
I'm happy to be watching your videos again Max. I had to stop for a little while because my dog was unwell and I ended up having to say goodbye to him after nearly 12 years. So, seeing your beautiful Occy (and any dog) was really hard for me. I still have my moments but I am loving seeing this adventure. Thanks for sharing :-)
I'm so sorry for your loss!!!! I experienced that gut wrenching feeling when my little dog Maggie passed away in Oct of last year after 11 years with her. I miss her tremendously. Time is a wonderful thing. Since then I adopted another beautiful dog. He has helped my heart heal.
@@airam3757 thank you for your reply. It is such a huge loss. My heart still aches for my beautiful Gus. I am glad your heart is healing, I hope one day I can open my heart to another dog but for now it hurts too much.
Fantastic as always Max, my wife, dogs Gracie4 & Darcy3 and I have just toured a tiny fraction of Scotland UK in our Merc Vito. We so thoughly enjoyed every single second, but I must admit the Aussie outback looks out of this world... As always Max you are a massive inspiration to me and 10's of 1000's of people all over the world. Also, on a personal note, thank you for sharing better help this has been a life saver for me. 🐾💕👌🙏
I love watching your videos! I have an Australian cattle dog named Max. He loves to watch with me. Every time he sees Occy in the video he looks up at the screen. I’m so glad you were able to get that tire changed. Safe travels! I’m glad you are living life the way you want!
Great video Max. So glad you were able to get some help. Occy looks so happy and healthy .
Thanks Jess!! You should see him now he’s finally has a bath 😍
You are such a positive and uplifting force Max. (Occy too). I always end up with a smile from your videos!
Loved the video Max- and how you handle a stressful event like a champ ! I’m not sure why , but everything you prepare- coffee, tea, stir fry- looks so delicious ! Occy is as entertaining as always. I also love the panoramic views and seeing your location on the map. Best of luck as you continue on your journey. 💙 from Nova Scotia Canada 🇨🇦
Thanks Michelle! And it all was delish, especially the coffee ; )
Just gotta say Max. Love your vids. After everything you've been through in recent history you are truly an inspiration to me. Thanks mate.
Thanks mate, really appreciate that!
Max, watching your video brought me beautiful memories of my journey through Australia. Such a huge territory with amazing people, amazing places. Your videos are like an oasis of joy and happiness despite the challenges , seeing your doggy is so heartwarming, your way of sharing your life is inspiring. Big hug to you from Switzerland, take good care and thank you for promoting kindness and thoughtfulness, mental health is so important, sharing our care and love towards those in need is such a life saver. ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Thank you for the kind words! 💛
Max this is unreal seeing this journey, being an Aussie and now in uk I never travelled to see our beautiful homeland so u r making a fellow Aussie so very proud of how vast and beautiful a country we have, stay safe ❤️✌🏻
Glad I can share it with you matey!
Y’all are so damn cute! Ha ha Occy is such a happy dog 🐶 Thank you for sharing your journey!
Not uncommon for mechanics to use Geman spec torque setting when mounting wheels; gutentight. I quickly learned solo treking up north QLD that swapping the tire iron for a breaker bar (with water pipe extension) and socket was a must if I wanted to preserve my pleasant disposition. John P. is absolutely spot on with the alternate jacking method on a dually. Surprised you only have 1 spare up there. Those roads are brutal on tyres. As I am sure you are seeing, all the hard travels are totally worth it for the serenity and beauty of our fine land.
Would love to see a POV from Occy, his daily routine… does he go to the toilet in the middle of the night, when does he eat etc 😅
Max, I would humbly share my experience with you and hope it is ok with you. When I travel to remote areas, I always have 2 jacks, with one definitely non-hydrolic (try not to get the China hydronic junk). Multiple patch kits. We were in a very remote area in Alaska and a $6 patch kit save our lives! Getting a satellite phone may be a good idea. I am sorry if I overstep, just a thought that sharing my real-life experience might contribute to your safety.
Hi Max, I had an identical puncture in my Sprinter Dually on dirt roads. I reckon a rock must have got wedged between the tyres. Also had problems getting the nuts off. Might have to invest in a Battery operated rattle gun. Love your videos and drone work. Stay safe. Ian from Western Australia.
I reckon you're right. Thanks mate!
@@MaxandOccy or at a minimum get all the rest of the lugs loosened while you're in Alice Springs and then only hand-tightened to the correct torque. You can bet that one tyre wasn't the only one on too tight. Oh, and buy a long breaker bar!
Enjoy Uluru, here in Sydney we're expecting 200mils of rain in the next week, you're not missing anything! I have a photo of my eldest daughter at the Northern Territory sign, she drove, by car, to Darwin from Melbourne, took her 9 days. She arrived in a thunderstorm just before covid began, she was in Darwin for a year before leaving the Army.
Occy with a plush toy on the bare earth in the middle of nowhere!!♡
Absolutely love this new adventure you and Occy are on, and to be honest, I didn't think I was going to enjoy this desert adventure. Shit does happen but you handled it well. Glad help arrived. Loved the spider/moon shot...lol.. Be safe, be happy you two.
What a bummer with that flat tire. You sure kept your cool. The guys that helped you were awesome. I love how Occy just goes with the flow being the experienced traveller that he is. Great vid, I'm looking forward to the next one!
What beautiful country! That was a rough ride. Great job with the push up challenge. In front of the Alice Spring sign was fantastic cinematography 👍🏻🙌🏻😁
Thanks Mendy!! 💛
Hi from Oregon, USA...new subscriber here. The vegetation is different, but the countryside reminds me of southern Oregon/northern Nevada. I have converted and lived in a few vans in my day, long before CZcams. I am a bit more "settled" now at 66, but still love being out in nature with my dog. I enjoyed this video.
I just love Occers 🥰 he reminds me of my girl, Sydney. Such personality ☺️ Also, gotta love roadside angels!!!
Dangeous because you are alone. You are brave
The main problems are cleanliness, toilet Facilities and weather. Even a popup camper would be a tremendous improvement.
Always inspiring thank you!
❤️&🙏to you & Occy 😊

What a journey and great to see it with you. Glad you were able to get help with your wheel/tyre. Stay safe & be kind. Xx❤️
Hello from Denmark - loving watching your vlogs and journey. I never travel because I have server anxiety - I have been staying home for most of my life (Im 52). Watching your adventure fills me up and thank you for giving me joy 🥰 and thank you for giving mental health a voice 🙏🙏🙏
I’m loving the landscape. I’ve not been to Australia yet, but you’re making so tempting to book a flight asap and see it for myself. Thank you for taking us along with you. Stay safe out there.

Beautiful video Max and as usual occy is the cutest 😍
another great video, Max! I'm enjoying your journey through the outback. I love how you hobbled to the road and prepared for the first people to stop and help. You are right the more we practice something the more confident we become that we can handle the ups and downs, challenges. Thanks for these thoughtful and beautiful videos - love the music you use too.
Another amazing video. Thank you for sharing. Wishing you safe travels. 🙏

Yeh, we’ve had some pretty awesome trips thru our beautiful Australia we’ve been around about 4 times now always love finding different routes all the time and we’ve had a few epic vehicle fails too. But we keep going back…
