I haven't been able to squat like that since I was 5. That was amazing.
Squat like slav 😂
Hey how much can I get this kit I been trying to order a bike conversion can you help me I live in Mississippi
Stretch every day and you will
uh you should definitely do some stretching and mobility exercises, you'll thank me later
Lmao
You are the only bike guy I see on youtube that mounts the chain tensioner properly! everyone mounts them in the chain stretch position. Cheers for knowing what you are doing. Love it!
Just learned of this mid drive kit. I'd like to put it on a full suspension bike. I just finished a BBSHD on a GT Aggressor Pro. This Cyclone will definitely be my next!
The quietness is really what sold me on ebikes. The animals i come in contact with really dont react. I dont think they realize im a person
Rode this bike! Love it! Nice work, Johnny!
My bbshd with a 48v 500 is plenty power and speed. I put it on a full suspension. Santa Cruz blur, Recently added a boxxer fork 200 mils travel. Added a dropper post. Absolutely brilliant. Charge it from my solar on my truck camper. 26" Wheels. Looking into adding a 27.5 front make it into a mullet.
when I start my business I will send 7% of what I make I think you have inspired me more thank you
Yeah man I'm ready Ready Freddy I can't wait to get started on my Killer B with your help Johnny!
Hey had a 34 in rear tyer same set up but with boxxer shox so fun my gear were different just a set closer to 50/50 n single speed could climb really well and wasn't over kill high speed all n all I thought for the time hard to replace but now doing a transfer n watching some clips to see what's good 👍 😀
you are doing what I had envisioned about 10 years but to also convert r city and maybe Amazon tours
Great build, I would add some fenders and a rear rack. Thanks from Woodinville WA
Ya that would be good. Plus a front suspension
Great channel, bike & video, you're the Johnny Bravo of ebikes..
Haha 😆
I’d say that’s a FAAAST top speed. Being single perhaps loosing 8-10pm off the overall top I favor of low end gearing. If that were my set up I’d build a trailer utilize those front fork bosses and salute you for a ride to camp bike. So awesome
Hey Johnny. Just found your channel and know nothing about ebikes. Really appreciate your honesty in another video about them and your approach. Most of the vids I've seen so far seem to be just promoting and selling you on high dollar models I would probably never need or could justify buying.. Digging this one and I'd like to talk with you if possible about ebikes and possibly builds for my wife and I. Jim
Good stuff man! Thank you for that Cyclone motor test 🤙
Throw some good suspension on the front !
Jeeze Johnny I might have to buy one of these from you someday soon! This thing is amazing.
You and others have inspired me. I have a brand new envoy cargo bike, then bought a mongoose dolomite alx, then three of the malus bikes, I was going to put the bbs02 in the cargo bike and keep that for a kid hauler, the alx is an awesome bike that I may keep as is ( i live on a snowmobile trail) one of the Malus bikes has showed up and they are kind of crappy no real low gears. I was hoping to build a rental fleet but the insurance is nuts. So i guess I will be building a couple bikes for fun an maybe to sell. I thought I could rent the malus bikes with out a motor but they will not work to heavy and no low gears, more of a tar beach boardwalk bike. No beaches in the mountains.
Saw this bike in the wild! Video coming soon. :)
I never heard of cyclone, until I went to your store, nice to know there's options other than bebang
its a beast in every sense of the word
Thanks for your videos, I have learned a lot
I never wanted an e-bike until I saw this video. what a ripper! new subscriber down under mate!
G’day!
Very nicely done! Thanks for sharing this information with us! Ride On Man :-)
Thanks!
Great e-bike build love the presentation.
Thanks!
@@JohnnyNerdOut I stripped the black paint off with gel paint strip; apply, let it sit for 10-15 mins and then wipe with cloth n brush It keeps the engine cooler and looks kooler bare.
Wow!! That looks awesome dude🙌🏾
Ok I got the fever! Lol just ordered from ya! Didn't see chain tensioner? Thanks brother 💪💪👊👊
Seriously I am in the market for an e-bike I am new to ebikes but I have lots of motorcycle experience. So now I am trying to learn as much as I can about building your own ebike I guess I will either end up building my own or hiring someone to build it for me but I definitely want to be riding by this time next year possibly sooner
my god, the top speed!
great vid awesome and valuable informative topicz
I would like to see a spray video of tools named and manufacturers pally get you some $$ for showcasing
Well done 100+ 👏
Nice. My friend has bafang and put a new controller and it does 120 kph but he had to change out nylon gear to a metal one and the motor can handle 72 volt battery but for price wise right bow the cyclone is cheap 529 cad
Nice
Looks fun!
sick bike
Thanks!
Stealth is what makes it , can go almost anywhere ... I run bbshd Ludacris program
what I want to see added to that Johnny bike is me that bike is sweet
😂
Thanks for inspiration! Love your videos. What about a belt dive for thus build?
Could work as well. Personally I like single speed chain vs belt
Loved it
Love your vlog J. That needed to be said before I pick on your bike. First I would gear it lower 39mph is too fast for rough trails and it looked like it struggled to climb that mild grass hill, lower gearing would help a lot. Using a zip tie to hold the drive chain tensioner spring, kinda sketch. What is the large hose clamp around your motor about?
Yes I agree a bigger rear cog would’ve made a world of difference bringing the usable power to a lower speed. The hose clamp keeps the motor from working itself loose. It’s a friggin beast of a motor and needs to be strapped down like a mentally ill gorilla (could be a cool bike name 🤔). Anything can be used to keep the tensioner in place but that is what cyclone sends with the kit ( as well as the hose clamp)
Good video and nice bike! I m dont understand very well english, so probably my question Will be inthe video. Did you built It in single speed because a bad chainline or was your choice? Now I have a steel enduro hardtail with bbs02, and ever think about fatbikes or 27,5+ built, and cyclone its interesting
Hey Johnny , can you suggest a beach cruiser bike with 6 gears and disc brakes that would be ideal for a conversion. I have back issues and need a bike I can sit comfortably upright. I have an Electra cruiser but brakes are the old fashioned rubber friction and adding a motor ect wouldn’t work to well . Thanks . Love your videos.
5000+ miles on my xdurorx29r (HaiBike). Would be a blast to put 5000 miles on that beast...
I'd like to see an IGH on that bike!
If that could work....
Yes it would. That was my intention, even bought the 3 spd. IGH....
This build is one of your best what I would like to see added to this bike is my butt to that seat, I love it 😀 🤣
39 MPH? Gonna start calling you Johnny SoyOut
Really digging your content lately brother. I really want to get into doing vids like this myself and open my own shop. Any advice on how to get started?! All thanks for the hours you put in to this and the hard work to motivate me. I have now built an 5000W Enduro E-Bike and three mountain bikes (one fat tire hub 500W and two mid-drive 750W & 1000W). Cheers!
Get a camera and make videos that you would find interesting yourself and just pretend like no one will watch them(no one will for the first hundred videos or so 🫠
@@JohnnyNerdOut LOL I sure appreciate the advice brother. Keep up the hard work man!
What's the amp rating for the controller and what's the discharge amp rating for the battery bank? I feel like it is slower then most 3000 watt ebikes. Most get a top speed around 50 mph with a 3kw motor
Awesome
Advise me a strong long travel rear suspension mod or a longer swing arm for rear if you've ever had to do a conversation. I m almost looking for a dirt bike like rear and front suspension.
I have an unrelated question about an unorthadox battery. I have a Specialized stumpjumper fsr 2007 and Ive added a bafang bs02. Unfortunately I cant fit a downtube battery unless i go underneath. If the forks went through 70% it would get hit. I dont want to add pne tp the top of crossbar. My question is could I use a 48v frog battery on the seatpost as a mtb trail riding alternative? I can forsee problems i.e. security of attachment and also being able to drop the seat for steep downhill drops. Have you any experience of frog batteries?
How did you attach everything on the aluminum frame?
But isn't there any place for a muscle-car kind of street ebike? My 2 street motorcycles are a Ducati Monster 900 and Harley 1200 Street Tracker. I want a Cyclone motor in my first ebike.
I'm going to put a cyclone on my Gravity Bullseye Monster. Love the build!
Have you seen the new sturmey Archer 3 gear hub for fatbikes? Gives some options besides single speed that can hopefully take some punishment.
I haven't seen the new one. Love their IGH's though.
I'm saving up right now I'm going do the cyc pro and get that 100 amp up grade pice for it too I'm going go battery backpack I have a 2020 stumpjumper aluminum frame but yeah I'm saving up now going have you do it so I'll b sending my bike to you
How much does it weigh overall with the battery and motor?? Thanks for the awesome content! I’m looking to possibly build a lighter bike with a lot of power and range that handles all terrain kind of like this👍🙏 thanks again!!
Maybe 50#
@@JohnnyNerdOut so perfect! Thank you!
awesome bike !!! you can hold your battery in that case ? Is it better then the onw mounted on your frame ?
Not sure if its "better" but its bigger
shifting on this bike? Different gears in motor to shift?
Hey Johnny, just found your channel, instant sub. I’ve been building ebikes for a couple of years now, a few of them were dirt jump bikes which I built as single speeds with different bafang mid-drives. I often get some flack online for not pairing my mid-drive with with a cassette or IGH. Obviously, the bike in your video is a single speed as well, curious to know your thoughts on ss + mid drive. Clearly there is a bit more usable power when using gears but I honnestly don’t find the ss to be that much of a detriment.
Love your channel buddy!
Thanks! I still prefer mid drive SS over a hub. You can still swap out chainrings/cogs to chain the gear ratios to completely change the performance of the bike to suit your needs.
@@JohnnyNerdOutI'm newer to your channel... not hip to all jargon quite yet... ebike .what's SS stand for,
single speed maybe ...
Yeah I got to get back to your website and figure out how to contact you for that one-on-one

@@franksplace551 yep, you are hipper than you think 👍
@@JohnnyNerdOut right on! I got some cash and ready to pull the trigger on parts I guess I should go to your website¿ I want minimum 1500w w' 52v or better juice... I have an original Schwinn stingray
(Mini bike I guess it was) frame... Badass looking oval frame tubes 20 inch fat rims have either girder or tube front end for it. Going to juice the brakes system using SS as you prefer with mid drive. So yeah Johnny I'm ready for my parts list! 😎🙏‼️
Turing, fatbike? With bags and a soñar panel ??
Do want. That. Me. Want.
curious to know what the weight gain is at the end. The bike not the rider.
Can u still pedal with the motor mounted?
so are the tires enough shock absorption? seems like you'd want front suspension if you were riding it like a dirt bike
Definitely depends on the riding. It's worked out well so far but if I were to be getting air, I'd want a suspension fork.
Johnny have you tried the CYC 5000w motor?
How much more of a boost would you get on flat, and maybe more so on incline from a dead start as we are not working with a derailleur?
Building a fat bike now with one.....
Would have to add a Rohloff speed hub. Big bucks I know but pedaling at high speeds and keeping the chain on are a must!!
Ya that would be a big upgrade in a great way😁
Any suggestions for a bike that can go 70+ miles with minimal pedaling for a guy that's 6'2" 265lbs. I don't want to have to shift gears either. I really need some help if anyone can.
I just discovered your channel. I’m interested in a step through bike that folds, has fat tires and has good power for streets, easy trails and the beach. Any suggestions? Do you build anything that fits that profile ?
Keep up the good work.
Unfortunately I think you’re looking for a unicorn.😀
Addmotor m140r
Nice dude!! I have a mongoose malus I was thinking of going the cyclone route I ended up getting a 750watt geared rear hub kit 26amp controller 52v battery its a blast! Tons of torque not at much as yours but will do 29mph with out peddling and eats hills like cake. Yours looks great kick ass build!!
Thanks man, appreciate the compliment!
I want one.will you build me up one
What rear hub?
great build but why does it have pedals?
To throw people off the scent
i have a question! :) Have you installed any cyc-motor products, like the X1 Pro or the newer X1 Stealth? Sort of the same sphere as this motor i'd assume... :) And i'm wondering what occasions you receommend to use a 'gear sensor' so that when you're shifting gears the power cuts for just a moment to not completely murder your drivetrain!! 😅 what gear sensors would you recommend also?
I am still waiting to get my cyc kit! I always recommend a gear shift sensor for any mid drive. I have them listed on my site unders “sensors”
Can you put LCD screen on the cyclone 3kw and if you know does the cyclone website deliver to the UK ?
Yes, just make sure the controller supports it. Go to cyclone website
Johnny how will this build run with a 52v 13ah battery? Asking because I already have one. Thanks!
About 10mph slower and less torquey
"Boing" sound 😆🍆
hi! i like your content!
I was wondering this motor would fit a mongoose malus. it's the only bike i own and i'm hesitant between cyclone and bafang can you help me?
Ya it would. Go Bafang if you want any sort of reliability.
Out of Seattle WA. I bought 2 conversion kits. When they arrived they did not send the extensions & the small part that connects to your frame & the back rack.
The back rack carries the battery. Covid hit and I think they shut down. I still can't find anyone that will work on a conversion bike or make a part. You mentioned you could build a bike or parts. Please help so we can get back on our bikes. 😢

Stoked to see a fatbike build. I recently got obsessed with the world of E, yet haven't made a purchase...onewheel, scooter, e bike??? I JUsT DONT KNOW! anyway I have a badass surly lowside on 650b x 2.8 single speed...I wanted more than 20mph out of a conversion,, i now I see that I can get that.... I couldn't decide wether or not to invest in a drivetrain also...haven't decided but thank for the vid!!!!!...soooo, are you happy with the single speed or do you wish for more gears? Should I convert this bad mammajamma!?
I’d go IGH for the ultimate of both both worlds. If you can afford it, the Rohloff is the transmission to go with👍
@@JohnnyNerdOut excellent! I was thinking the same thing. I really like the direct connection of a single speed. My right knee doesn't like it so much....rohloff is pricey but that plus this motor on a surly!!!?!?!? That would be pretty epic. Thank you sir...1 question, do you think the rohloff will stand up to the torque?
@@muggachukka1629 supposedly it should be able to 🤷♂️
@@JohnnyNerdOut fair enough. Now I just have to sell the rest of my possessions lol. Thanks again man!
How can i contact u to convert a BIG ED FAT TIRE TO ELECTRIC
Just curious what a bike exactly like this cost to build? Thanks
Around $1600 w labor
Hey how much would you charge to build a bike for me
hey Johnny. My IGH Nexus 4 just arrived (meaning i need another Swing Arm but that's another story) and i couldn't see how to attach the Disc Brake, so i looked on here.
First one you put on a Cargo Bike but then stuck a Pannier over it so i couldn't see but then you mentioned a Fat Bike build with one, so i checked this out and you squatted in front of it like a mildly attractive Sadu.
Can i buy an attachment or shall i just Bin it like 50% of the other parts i've bought for this stupid ebike build.....thanks John
Send pics to me over at my website. Johnnynerdout.com
Why not have a bike that sports both a geared hub drive and mid drive applications
Super inefficient
Jonny.i really want to built a. E bike...or try n built one can u sent me information on building
Awesome! I have a full install video that takes you step by step through a conversion. Of, If you'd like to chat about what components are right for you and your riding style/budget, you can book a consultation with me over on my website at www.johnnynerdout.com and we can get you set up!

Hey is the bike still holding up?
It was built to be sold. Legend has it that it is though
why no hub gear in the back?
For strength
Johnny please help i have a 750w bafang fat bike.
My problem is the controller overheat and has burnt out. How do I beef up the controller ? I need to upgrade it so it doesnt repeat.
What do I have to do to upgrade?
Burning up controllers is not common at all. I’d be surprised if it happened again
@@JohnnyNerdOut the controller is mounted in a waterproof container under the frame and although having pedal-assist i used it full throttle all the time. The unit has a heatsink but nowhere to disapate
@@JohnnyNerdOut thanks for the reply.
@@_CORO I had a controller mounted under the battery behind the bottom bracket that failed but it was due to water getting into it not burnout, perhaps yours did and you got a short circuit, do some silicone sealing when you get your new one
I thought you only need a controller when you have a hub motor, not a mid-drive motor...AND I thought you said you would prefer a hub motor on a single-speed bike. Explanation would be great..Thanks.
all ebikes need controllers, Bafang builds theres into the motor which is nice. Cyclone does not, hence the bulky controller. At this power level, a hub motor would've worked too, but i like the mid drives because i can switch cogs/chainrings to achieve different gear ratios, something you cant do with hubs.
@@JohnnyNerdOut This helps. I am going to contact you in a month or so, let me get up to speed with my own knowledge a little. Trying to build 2 trikes, single speed....first time doing anything like this; Im so Scared!

Johnny, I love your videos, but this time I need your help. I built an awesome ebike with a voilamart 1500w with the controller inside the hub, this thing was a beast 36 mph, but all of the sudden after only 250 miles it died on me, the display flashes a different speeds and the motor makes a sound as if it wants.to work but nothing, I have a video attached hoping you can help.or at least point me in the right direction.

Hey Johnny... Awesome video's..!!
I have 2 questions for you. I have a "TRUE" B-52 Stealth Bomber ebike (not a clone). I ran into a situation last year where I had a flat tire, I took the wheel off to repair the flat, now the bike will power on, but wont go. I took the tire off just to make sure I didn't cut anything, etc.. still no joy.. Do you have experience and work on Stealth Bombers...?
Second question. I still have my first ebike, RadRover Fat Tire bike. I'm looking for something a little faster with better range such as the bike you feature above. Is there anything you would suggest with the rad bike, or should I just sell it and build out a bike. I may see if there is something you can build me as well, but I wanted to get your thoughts..?
If its easier for you, I'm happy to contact you directly for a further discussion.. Thanks..!!
Check the connectors and cables for pinches. You can upgrade the rad rover to a mid drive which will really wake it up 👍
@@JohnnyNerdOut Hey Johnny... thanks for getting back to me. Yeah, I did check that already. Some are questionable and may require me to pull the hub apart to do a full replacement if I go that route. Are you knowledgeable of Stealth and do you work on them... ? Yes, I'm happy with the framework of the RadRover, I just want to get a little more power out of it. If I went in that direction, what could I purchase from you ...? Thanks...
Can this easily wheelie ? Considering it’s fat bike
It’s not geared to wheelie. It could be though.
@@JohnnyNerdOut I’m building a rear motor 3000w dual 60v 24ah battery you think will wheelie is fatbike 😦 single speed as well
At around 3:51 you say "[...] I'm not saying this is more powerful than a 250 or something [...]". What do you mean by "250" in this context?
A 250cc gas motor
@@JohnnyNerdOut Thank you! I thought you meant sth like Watt. I am quite obviously not familiar with motors...
👊👊👍👍
Dear JohnnyNerdOut: I LOVE what you've done--take a reg. fat-bike pedaler and add a GREAT motor. & HD-amp battery. I'd like to add rear{?} rack{s} to carry two bags of groceries, and 4 battery packs, so I could travel 140miles @ 40mph on 2nd-ary roads, having a front suspension that if I run off the road, I can safely stop without jumping off/crashing. I want SPEED, plus RANGE, & Range & Range on pavement, now. --Maybe I'd learn dirt-riding later. I'm alarmed @ the chain coming off, why not then add a few more pounds and use belts, which can be MUCH harder to throw, because there are deep grooves on some of the belt sprockets, plus belts don't "stretch" as much as a chain, so they might be more efficient than chains, also lasting longer. Are there ANY 90cc 4-stroke gas motors that would continuously "charge" via car alternator, the motor/batteries, so 70mph and REAL "cross-country" riding would be possible, kind of like the Fisker Electric Auto that uses a gas engine to keep the electrics "charged" after its 30 miles of range poops out. I'm thinking of the Tucson - Phoenix run, which while listed as 120 miles, is more like 160 because I live 40 more miles from where they start Counting. This trip takes fully two+ hours, so would take 4 + hours on a 40mph bike, with NONE able to take the RANGE without multiple batteries {4-5?} if done completely Electric. Also, why not "drive the front fat tire with a center-hub motor" mounted to turn with the front wheel? {like the TWIBIKE, only powered }
