Been using the 500c. For like 3 years excellent display.
My BBS02 headlight wires came with 2 small spade connectors, both had black wires. A 6V DC LED light is polarized. There was nothing for it but to just try one polarity and see if it worked and hope it didn't fry somethign if it wasn't. I come here today to tell you if you headlight doesn't work try swapping the wires over. Apparently wiring it up in the reverse didn't seem to cause any damage.
Seems like a cargo bike would make a lot more sense as a car alternative.
Never mind. My ebike was on sale for $800. Lol
35lbs bike 15 lbs. Kit ?
Right about that
Thanks man! You helped me out with my issues only three minutes in. My bike was throwing a brake error code. Disconnected the breaks and it work beutifully.
does it have the stock rear hub still on ? i m getting the same build( same gear ratio etc ) but after digging into the nitty gritty , a pretty serious upgrade is needed rear hub.. 4 piston brakes ,sturdier rims spokes etc
Wow. I would like a bike like that!
Beyond a sweet build. A rear rack? I'd add a front rack, and carry dumbells to avoid unplanned wheelies.😂
I built a 2016 Trek Fuel full suspension with BBSHD and 52 V 20AH batt in the triangle. Two gripes. BBSHD hangs lower than 52 tooth chain ring and 29 inch wheels are not as rigid as smaller wheels. Can feel some flex when letting off throttle at high speed in high gear. Makes me nervous. Anyone know of a modern dual suspension bike with large triangle?
Great powerplant! I would personally like to see this setup on a hardtail so a triangle battery or at least a 20-25ah 52v version could be used.
A compelling bike for sure and because I am a speed lover as many of your subscribers are, I would consider building one with one exception. Biggest problem with a dual suspension bike, even one size Large and I prefer an XL frame size because I am tallish, is as mentioned, room for a decent battery capacity. 9 amp-hr's just isn't enough for my preference. I like 20-20 amp-hr with a hungry motor size. Having 72v means more cells in series which eats up room in the battery enclosure for parallel cells which provides battery capacity and more range on the bike per single charge. There maybe a dual suspension frame out there that will fit both a big voltage and higher amp-hr battery but most triangles with dual suspension bikes today are very compact for stiffness for structure for the rear shock. This is most of the reason I haven't built a 72v dual suspension bike as much fun as it would be. That thing must be amazing to ride. Thanks Johnny. Awesome build.
🇨🇦 ✌ Love it
The problem is that 100% of folks owning something like this don't dial it back legally and yes, they are ruining it for everyone. Automobiles have proven we cannot be trusted to do the right thing, or obey the law at all. Those brakes, those very brakes, were not even designed to stop that bike stock! They are for a >30# road bike, with the idea of a 150-180# rider. Only the larger rotors are giving these rapidly fading or sticking brakes (Froome's complaint) enough power to stop that very bike (stock) except on long descents. There are no mtb, much less emtb specific hydraulic brakes. The bike is top heavy and the tires have soft sidewalls. The concept of an e-bike was developed to provide an affordable transportation alternative that did not require DOT approved lights, suspension or brakes. E-bikes were meant to make traditional cycling easier, more convenient and accessible, not faster. I live what you do in general. Your customer service is too notch, but if we do not call these out every time we see them, we are condoning it. That is how we are getting banned all over The U.S. and how you end up with restrictions like in The EU, Canada, Nz and Australia.
I would never want an old maid like yourself to ruin it for enthusiasts. You sir are unamerican. A woke, beta male who wants to control other people. Alfa's will never let betas control them...ever. I am both an automotive engineer and have worked with NHSTA throughout a long career. I grew up building racing cars and motorcycles. You...should only speak for 'yourself'. No, 'you' should never ride this ebike. It is way above your talent level. But for a guy like me who has raced motorcycles both on and off road, this bike would be a 'piece of cake' to ride. Why? Because I could control the power. I own a 2000w, 45 lb, drop bar road bike that will do 40mph with 'rim brakes'. I ride it on many days I am not riding something else either faster or slower. 10's of thousands of miles. It rides perfectly and perfectly safe with 28c tires 'in the right hands.' So speak among your liberal, beta peers who have no talent to ride high power machines. Don't bring your sniveling here.
You’re thinking of the Surron crowd.
@@jakeyoung2092this thing isn't much different than a surron for all intents and purposes. Except it has more power on a frame that wasn't built for it.
50 mph , 50 lbs is insane .
They're going to be dusting everyone on the trails.
Hey Jonny, I've got a folding electric bike that I bought last December. I loved it until it just stopped working, out of the blue. To complicate things more, I live in Taiwan. I can't find a shop that will even look at it to fix it for me. Is there any way to contact you for assistance?
Hello there, I'm looking to make my 26x4 fat bike into an ebike like this one, what motor do I have to buy? The center of the bike where the pedals are is 120mm in length from end to end just counting the frame..... How do I know before hand that I need to replace the chain?
What size chainring do you currently have ? If you go with a bigger chainring you will need a new chain most likely
@@JohnnyNerdOut in the info sheet of the bike it says that it's a 24t (I think it's too small compare to what a regular motor comes with) with a chain fxd 1/2*3/32*118L
Thank you made this video very simple. When I get home I’m going to try. Thank you.
If only tesla was still around , I don't think pursuing more battery technology is needed , I think the mid drive kits can still be way better , cyc x1 kits are perfect in every way except the motor with its glued on magnets ,luna cyclone motors are high quality, but it's attachment and brackets are crap , gng electric have created a kit using the cyclone motor with stronger brackets , a better setup but still not perfect , brackets are used everywhere in life , the science behind created them is a simple one , so why does cyclone use hose clamps and cable ties to hold there motor on the bike . Can't they make a simple strong bracket that looks factory and holds the motor in a solid state , all that power and they are relying on a hose clamp to hold it together , not good , where one company got the motor rite bracket wrong and the other company got the bracket part rite and the motor rong , I wonder if I could adapt the cyclone motor to the cyc x1 kit
Any opinions on CYC mid-drive motors?
Plenty 😀 in short. They are the Ferrari of motors. Expensive. But the best.
I've been riding trikes for over 20 years and in all of that time I think the best $2k I ever spent was when I got the Rohloff. So far in over 15k miles of use I have had no problems and the only service you have to do is every 3K miles or once a year (whichever occurs sooner) is flush and drain the lubricating fluid. The process is simple and quick (add flushing fluid, ride the trike, drain flushing fluid, and refill with new lubricant) with the longest portion being when you have to ride the trike for a mile or so while shifting through all of the gears to ensure all parts are cleaned. Can shift gears while stopped, over 500% gear range and difference between each gear is the same 13%.
What about upkeep, maintenance, and parts availability?
We shall see!!
Is there a way to do this on like a 500 or $600 budget? I have a giant escape and I mainly just want to use it on Towpath with my woman's kayaking group. I'm fine with like a 500 W motor in maybe like a quarter less powerful battery. ideas for parts?
Toseven dm02 motor is $330. The battery is the variable, but if you don’t need a big one you can get a small capacity battery fairly inexpensive
This guy is biased.. like a gay guy talking on heterosexual topic's.Nah nah, we dont believe yaa
Anyone know what size rhe bottom bracket is on the viribus 7 speed trike?
Where are the lekkie chainrings available in Australia
Are the Lekkie chain ring available in Australia
Best bet is probably directly through Lekkie. They are in New Zealand .
Just get it licensed, get insurance, and get your motorcycle license.
Who makes the most reliable ebike chains? I have a Yuba Mundo cargo bike with the BBS02, geared at 28 front 42 rear. My average load is 400#, bike me and gear. I keep stretching chains or worse snap them. A video on chains would be awesome. Thanks
Kmc e series probably.

So what middrive bafang do i get if im putting it on a 24 inch bmx bike with american bottom bracket, i want to go at least 25mph, im new to this ,
Ballpark price for build like this Johnny
I paid about $1700. this included Washington sales tax and Johnny's labor. If you do it yourself and buy from a state with lower sales tax you'd save a ton of money.
But. The real question is.. How do I disable it? I come from Bosch motors and find the gear cut-out just disturbing.
Hello Johnny, my neighbor gave me a engwe EP-2 pro. were can I buy parts? There web site dealers don't carry parts HELP THank You
I don’t have disc brakes. Is there an e-bike option for this kind of bike??

Dang! I just built a Mongoose Malus like that. The only original Malus part was the frame and fork, everything else was replaced. I used 27.5X2.5 wheels with street tires. I need to go with a bigger chainring to eliminate ghost pedaling. Heading to your website now to see what you have. Just bought the Lekkie throttle from you, nice.
