Fat Bike DREAM BUILD // Canyon Dude

  • Another Dream Build in the books, all thanks to Andy's coveted bike arsenal - this time round, a fat bike like no other! The only stock item on the bike is the Bluto fork, simply due to very few fat fork options in the market.
    As it is the dead of winter here in Finland, what an appropriate way to show some love to fat bikes with a proper Dream Build. Fat bikes need not be tanks! So much fun to ride this lightweight steed, with it's carbon wheels and all the goods such as super weight weenie friendly bars from Beast components and, of course, that lovely SRAM gold by XX1 and Fox's kashima.

    • @ShreddingBliss
      @ShreddingBliss  Před 3 lety

      Thanks a lot, glad you liked it! These are carbon rims from a company called Nextie. They have a 32mm wide rim tape on (enough to cover middle channel), after market yes. With alloy, fat rims you have more issues sealing it because of the gaping holes in the rims. I’ve used gorillatape in the past. In any case, as long as your tape covers the widest part that can let in air, you should be good

      That was the first thing I thought when I saw this as well. As someone who has tried mounting their AB oval onto a SRAM direct mount crank, the oval timing isn’t in the right place when you flip the ring for negative offset. The chainring in this video would probably ride horrible lol. One would need to reverse a regular circle chainring for the same gold look.

    It went together easily in less than an hour. czcams.com/users/postUgkxHL1v1R3NE5x4KiYfyt8dnQmyNYz7qi5L Make sure the front fork is forward or the pedals will hit the front tire. Tires are both a little soft so it needs air before I ride it. The rear wheel didn't come with a clamp regular bolts hold it on. The front had the clamp. No scratches out of box. Rims are a little off with a slight wobble. They could have spent more time with the spoke tool fixing the run out. So far out of the box I'm happy with it. I did replace the pedals with a nice aftermarket set. After riding it a bit my A$$ is a bit sore so I ordered another seat. Overall I'm nearly 60 and didn't ride a bike in 30 years. I like my new 29" Schwinn. It will be used for casual rides with my friend.
