  • Who knew how dangerous coughing could be? Two weeks ago, I threw out my back... while coughing. I’m still not 100%, but after not being able to sit or stand for a while, I was finally able to cobble together a video for you...
In this episode of One Line at a Time, after discussing a few miscellaneous issues, we’ll tackle a tricky topic: the before/after question. When do we put a descriptive adjective before the noun, and when do we put it after the noun? When do we say "chicos buenos" -- and when do we say "buenos chicos"?

You impress the hell out of me. I am very new to Spanish and find your method extremely helpful. Greetings from Cuenca, Ecuador. Just moved here for our retirement and finding your channel very useful. Still recovering from moving costs but have every intention of purchasing your program and sharing your channel with others. Take a bow dude. You are awesome.
Your style reminds me of the fellow student in class who explains perfectly what the instructor just “taught” over my head.

Thanks Jordan, appreciate how you explain things in such a functional and clear way, like always. Used to hate all language studies in school. Now it’s the core of my studies (all independent) for I see language as something fascinating and essential (when one is not forced and just stuffed with endless amounts of rules but not seeing the purpose, I think you do the opposite which is great !! Plus you think for yourself !) thanks for all !

Love your channel and I became a member! Just saw a misspelling at 9:00 - "plan" instead of "pan" - not a big deal, and sorry to point it out. I have a channel as well and I know how it can be difficult to catch it all. Your description of direct and indirect object pronouns finally showed me what I've been missing. I've been studying for over a year and I finally get it now, thanks to you. I also ordered some shirts. Keep doing these!

In Spanish, the word "hogar" is too pedantic. If you use "bienvenido a mi hogar" (welcome to my home) you'll sound like Reverend Lovejoy's wife (the Simpsons). We use it when we translate "Home, sweet home" (Hogar, dulce hogar) or something like "a home is a place where you feel loved" (un hogar es un lugar en el que te sientes amado), but we say "Siéntete en tu casa" (feel yourself at home, lit. "at your home") , "estás en tu casa" (you're in your home, same meaning) or "bienvenido a casa" (welcome home).

Hi Jordan, there was an app you recommended for improving listening skills in Spanish. I can't find the reference. Do you remember saying that? I hope so. By the way, I am learning lots from your videos. I am currently struggling through Conjugation Boot Camp. It's really hard. Thanks!

Hi! I didn't even think about that! Hahaha. It was from choking on something (but not seriously at all, more embarrassing than serious).
