Tasting The Worlds SALTIEST Licorice 🇸🇪 In Sweden (feat Pontus)

- The worlds saltiest licorice is found in Sweden, the Swedish bastards (svenskjävlar). The company advertising the small black demon from hell asks you if you dare to taste, and we sure do! In this taste test we taste the Swedish bastard together with a couple of other licorice’s from the famous Swedish licorice store: lakritsroten. Where they even have licoricepizza. Of all the Swedish candy, this is the one that people describe the biggest love and hate relationship with, and to way in to this weeks discussion we have brought our friend Pontus in to be apart of the panel. He loves licorice, and thinks it the best of all the Swedish candy.

A little about us:
Morgan is from the USA and Will is originally from Sweden. We met while working together in Germany in 2018 and have ever since tried to find a place to call home. In January of 2022 Morgan finally received a positive decision on her residency application in Sweden, so for now we know where we will call home. We look forward to share with you the challenges and differences between our cultures, and how it works when they meet in our relationship. We very much love each other, but do we love everything about where we are from? Is Sweden as good as everyone says, and is America more than all of its stereotypes?

I bought a jar of Svenskjävlar a while ago and it took me roughly six months to finish it, it sure is the real deal! After a while I learned to put one in the mouth, drink a big gulp of cold water and then start eating it. Also, I recently tried Djungelvrål for the first time in years and was really disappointed. It tasted like sweet licorice that had been dipped in salt. Nowhere near as salty as I remember it!
Also, considering that Stockholm used t have a hot dog salesman who claimed to make the worlds spiciest hot dog, and offered a reward to anyone who managed to eat the whole thing I'm not surprised that someone had to make the worlds saltiest licorice.
Just over a decade ago I had a girlfriend whose six year old daughter who loved licorice. I brought her to the original Lakritsroten store (back then they only had one small store in Stockholm, now they have lots of them in several cities), and I guess I don't need to say she was in paradise. 🙂

They are really nice, but a bit to big. I usually divide svenskjävlar into 3 parts.
Salmiak (NH4Cl) is made by reacting Ammonium (NH3) with Hydrochloric acid (HCl).

Svenskjävlar are awesome! Nibbling on them in a test like this is cheating though, you have to eat a whole piece in one bite or you won't get the full experience!

Yep, we are gonna stay around Stockholm for a few days and do some daily hiking and then we go up north to Dalarna and will stay near Falun for a few days. Any recommendations for something to do that I won't see in a normal travel video guide are appreciated! 😁🌲🦌
I’m curious about trying the saltiest one! You should have had a liquorice fudge which would probably be close to the middle part Morgan “liked”.

Yuuum haha. I like licorice probably for the reason you mention, being a swede and being exposed to it. I would so much like to try that last salty one, and I'm curios what did Pontus rate the last one, did he say after? And also to point out Ethan is just like you guys when it comes to licorice, not a fan at ALL!
