Surströmming Stinky Fish Challenge and the World's saltiest licorice

- While visiting @DaGarbageDisposal and in between food challenges I had the (not so bright) idea to do a little food review with Brandon. I bought the Ultra Surströmming Challenge set that includes a can of Surströmming - The World's most stinky fish (fermented herring), Tunnbröd - sweetened flat bread, SVENSKJÄVLAR - The World's saltiest licorice, and Ultra Violet - salty licorice with white chocolate, violet and salmiak. We are going to start with the licorice and then move to the fish but with most people not getting past the smell I am not very enthusiastic. This is just for fun and not an official challenge. We did this outside because if this was done indoors I am pretty sure the house would have to be renovated.

No doubt! The cracker helped but it soaked up all of the "fish juice" and then it all tasted like it.

The one time I am glad smellivision doesn't exist..btw, you all made me laugh more than I have in a very, VERY long time!!!!!! (The 'I'm surprised the can didn't dissolve' was hilarious'!)

I really enjoyed the extreme flavor challenge!!! I hope to see more collabs like this in the near future. The speed challenges are fun to watch and the amount of food you both can put away is wonderous, but the collab was fun to watch because the audience gets more from your interactions togeher. No time limit and so more conversation and insight. I have a new found respect for you both after watching you suffer through this challenge. Like two young boys on the playground eating boogar flavored jelly beans,LOL!!!

A $100 whao here in Sweden a can is $30 but you guys did good, it tastes better with Mandelpotatoe and red onion.

Those filets actually look nice. Not overly fermented. Not past expiry date. Plus it's filets. That should be a rather mild flavor. It can get too much if you let it sit for an extra year or two.
This was the first time either of us had tried it. Neither of us knew what to expect. I'd say the longer it sits, the stronger the smell and flavor would be.

I would try durian, it is hard to gind here but definitely would give it a go. As far as the fish goes, I don't think anything could make it palatable for me.
@@EliLessig maybe the frozen inside of the durian can be found In the Asian supermarket. Hahaha... That fish is something I've always wanted to experience

The brand is not the most important I would say
it is the accessories that are most important to the fish, you should start off by taking just a little bit of fish with much sour cream, onions and cooked potatoes and then you can add more pieces of fish until you get the perfect balance
Then you MIGHT actually like it (but there are no guarantees of but that would be your best bet)

This was such a tough challenge! I did the 10th inning burger challenge a few hours later and I could still taste this. It almost ruined the taste of the burger for me.

You take the skin off with a knife and the flesh is taken off the bone .The flesh is then mixed with freshly boiled potato and diced onion(raw) and than put on bread or crackers(plenty potato and onionto the fish)

No doubt! We were tasting it hours after we did this. I did a challenge later that day and the taste stayed with me.
