TEASER - BOUNDARY WATERS ON FIRE. CANOE CAMPING IN THE BOUNDARY WATERS 2021

I entered the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness for 12 simple days of fishing, exploring and canoe camping, but before I could set my first camp, the smell of smoke filled the air. My straightforward trip suddenly became an exercise in strategically checking winds and weather, avoiding a growing number of wildfires, and finding great fishing. Some days were choked with smoke and uncertainty while others presented bright blue skies and clean air. In the end I was forced to make a drastic change in exit route that resulting in a 12 hour marathon of paddling and portaging. The day after I exited the US Forest Service closed a significant portion of the Boundary Waters Wilderness due to the danger posed by a half dozen forest fires. This closure included the area I had been travelling in. What an amazing trip. I hope you enjoy it.

I have definitely been trying. My first videos were recorded on my iPhone propped up against rocks or tied to my canoe with shock cord. I now use 2 GoPros with various clamps. What a difference that has made. I can be more creative if I don't have to worry about my phone falling in the lake. LOL

Lol. I was working on it last night. Not a new canoe. Its my Northstar Magic. You will see it whenever I am on larger water. It is a straight tracking fast canoe.
