The mashed together vlog-like style of them and the kinda chaotic energy of that really resonates with me and I think it sets you apart from other like motivational or workout influencers. Cyclist here, a professional bike fit will make the bike much more comfortable to ride, helps prevent injuries, and makes you more efficient pedaling!
Be cautious when first attempting to clip in/out outdoors, most cyclist including myself have tipped over multiple times clipping/unclipping!
Lastly make sure you get some practice riding in TT position, it can take a bit to get used to being hunched over.

Your FTP will jump a bunch in the first couple months of riding! But also, you should get a bike fit! Your seat looks a bit high and set a bit far back! I would try moving it forward a bunch so the clamp at the top of the seat post is close to the center of the rails of the seat, and then moving the seat down a tiny bit, that will also just increase your FTP for free as the position is more ergonomic!

The butt pain is usually way worse on the stationary trainer than on rides outside when you are not used to it. On a tri bike like this a bike fit will help a lot as well. If you can, try to ride outside ever so often as well to develop your all around bike handling skills (and the rides are not as boring).

    A couple things re cycling:
    - Butt and nut pain. Others have mentioned already, but try out different bibs. There are different levels of padding. You might need more padding. Also, don’t be afraid to test out different saddles. It’s normal to not like your first one. Also, consider getting a professional bike fit. This will help distribute your weight properly on the bike, taking some of the pressure away from the saddle. Finally, stand up every once and awhile when you get some pain, if needed. Avoid numbness.
    - consider getting a beater road bike as a second bike that doesn’t have clip pedals just to get used to shifting and riding. Ride around and develop technique and understanding of how your bike works on the beater. You’ll be less afraid of making mistakes and it would allow you to more casually get used to the sport. That tri bike you got there is some serious business.
It’s cool seeing someone get into this. I NEVER thought I’d be a cyclist. Always thought I’d just use it for commuting/practical reasons. But now I do it every opportunity I get. It’s addicting and fun. There’s a good chance you’ll love it, considering you seem to like other endurance sports.

  • @hayleemae4340

Hi Cody! Fellow runner here with some nutrition advice! My advice would be on days when you are having two workouts or long runs load up your dinner the night before with lots of carbs and protein. This will fill your glycogen stores for the next day and prevent you from losing energy during your workouts. The morning of having something that’s heavier in carbs but light in volume can help to keep your energy up during the workouts. I would also suggest looking into nutrition for during your workouts (gels, gummies, etc). These would be best for during long bikes and runs (typically anything over and hour and a half.) Taking these every 45 mins during a long bike or run can help to refill glycogen stores and get you through without crashing or hitting the wall. A lot of nutrition is also trial and error and every person is different. I would encourage you to give lots of options a try and see what works for you and your schedule. Loving this training content! Good luck with your workouts!

Same thing with eating times, if they get fed at the same time every day they'll definitely learn to anticipate it and will get annoying around those times.

As an “ex-competitive cyclist” I’ll just say, it’s fucking terribly hard work at first… then at some weird point your body kinda mutates. But I just remember being surprised how brutal a my first 26 mile ride was. I was super fit from running and dancing, but cycling is just different and I swear most things just don’t translate over much to cycling strength. I thought I’d never get used to it, but I did. Just don’t go to insane with training at first, because cycling is a way more involved sport than most other things. Easy to get burned out I feel like. Because it’s just just the miles and recovery… it’s because it’s not like running where you just throw on your running shoes and go on a run. You have to do so much more to get ready for a training ride, plan the route, dress differently and have different layers depending on your elevation in all the weather changes due to the elevation. And if it’s going to rain you have to account for if it stops and then you’re wet with wind chill getting to you… so layers you can take on and off. It’s just a super involved sport that can cost a fortune. I loved it when I did it. It just takes a special kind of person. Have fun!

Also, if you are ever sore between your legs, try using chamois butter, it can really help. And, with clipless pedals, try clipping in and out on a soft surface like grass before your first ride. Thank you sharing you experience! I genuinely enjoy watching these videos and it has inspired me to sign up for a marathon.I currently work full time and I am in the middle of getting my masters degree, so it truly felt like I had no time. But you videos are so motivating that I thought if you can do it, so can I. I am on week 5 of my training and I’m loving it.
Since I’ve began my marathon training, my coworkers felt inspired to start working out too. You’re willingness to share your journey has created a domino effect and motivated more people than you know. Thanks again!

Dude, love these videos! Been following you for years and I love where you're headed, definitely setting a great example. Whether in business with everything you're working on, now with your athletic goals and health, reducing your alcohol intake, etc, its been awesome to see you continue setting your standards higher for yourself! Keep it up, sometimes it's hard to see when no one points it out, but you're an inspiration!
Regarding the nutrition, with the amount of calories you're burning, I would increase your calorie intake. The foods look great, would recommend bigger portions of each and/or adding in a few snacks like or a high protein, high calorie smoothie, avocado and egg toast, etc.

Absolutely loving these videos, so cool to watch along! When you're on the bike, rotate your hips forward, that will straighten your back, and reduce the hunch. Your body will thank you longer term, and short term you'll be in a better position to put down power!

Bike looks too big for you Cody, you’re pretty stretched out trying to reach the handlebar. You might also try lowering your seat a bit so your toe isn’t pointed down at the bottom of the pedal stroke. That’ll also help with the butt bruising. Keep it up! This is fun content.

not a dietitian or nutritionist but i do know a good amount about nutrition-after a workout, especially one as intense as yours, i would add more carbs to your lunch. you could add a smoothie with lots of fruit or some sort of grain like rice, quinoa, or farro. carbs are very important for recovery. otherwise, the lunch looks great! also, i would suggest eating a larger breakfast (if you can) or more calorie dense meals to increase your calorie intake since your calorie expenditure is very large. a great way to make this easier is to do some kind of meal prep like making overnight oats or cookie something like rice or meat at the beginning of the week

  • @philipmajlundjensen5953

I'm so glad that you started this channel. I have been following you since insanely chill so I'm very excited for this channell! I'm the same age as you and you have inspired me to start on the traning for an Iron man. Thanks, keep up the good work.
