  • Today we'll look at the Rockville RXM-T2 (clone to RXD-T2), which is a 2 channel, high powered, mini-amplifier. At a footprint of approx. 12 x 7 x 2, this amp can fit virtually anywhere. Rockville rates the amp at 400x2 at 4 ohms, 600x2 at 2 ohms and 1600x1 at 4 ohms (or 1200x1 depending on where listed).
    We'll take a closer look at the amp, try it on the Dyno and powering subs and BigD gives his thoughts on this amp. Check it out!

    Technically Rockville did not lie. The amplifier did handle it It is still alive 😆. But in all seriousness this is a fantastic deal for this amplifier this and would be very hard to beat Price wise. As long as Rockville honors any warranty for failed amplifiers I would say a definite go Cheaper price means lower build quality so it will guaranteed some guaranteed suffer from vibrational damage. The real trick is the amplifier not being damaged running a 1 ohm stereo or a 2 ohm bridged load. Many people have no idea of how to set up their amps. Many issues can be solved not only by running the correct impedance speakers but also proper grounding and power to the amplifier with properly sized cables (OFC if you can).

    I decided to get serious with investing my hard earned money on high quality audio products instead of the current crap seen thru the locked glass partition of any given Super K-Mart, Walmart, AutoZone, Pep Boys, etc.. That was the Hi-Phonics Series VII year and I'll never forget the demo of a Cupid 44w pushing 12's in an MTX box. From Spark-o-matic to Jensen & several Realistic EQ/amps to a ton of other "disappointments in a steel/aluminum box" had never really come close to what I was witnessing! Although I wouldn't trade those expensive memories in the early 90's for anything I do have to say that NOW is the time for car audio enthusiasts to embrace the dream of owning their very own big ass bass bumping system and still pay the bills on time. Numbers on the box mean nothing to me so I rely on your channel to let me know how much bang for the buck I'm getting amongst so many brands available. Thanks brother for doing what you do!

    Nice test but still if You hook up a 2 ohm subwoofer bridge mode, i bet it won't go into protect cuz all of the impedance curve according to the frequency and so on...so it's 2 ohm stable but only reactive load, not a resistance load like the dyno. So it's more setup depending if it's going to handle 2 ohm load in a real environment.

    Yep this amp sure is a beast......thats for sure!!! makes my ds18 10's coil warm up good. Not defending rockville fully but racheal did say stereo mode........and bigD u did explain to us the difference between stereo and mono mode, so 2ohm stereo is 4ohm since its a mono amp? But same way great videos really enjoy the channel........cant wait for your review on the rockville db45 am getting it next month.

  • @spoonz7057

    Big D, I bought this amp for two reasons, I was looking for a class D 2 channel for efficiency to power my portable partybox/karaoke build and from the surprising results of your testing. With that being said, did you connect this amp to some speakers and give it a listen? When I gave it a listen I was ready to send it back, it was flat, muddled and lacked in the low end. Now, I built my monitor using Dayton 10" pro woofers (because of specs & price point) and seismic horn compression drivers. Box was designed and ported to match woofer characteristics. Initial tests were performed with a Crown amp, sounded great and extremely loud and clear. So out of desperation and morbid curiosity before I boxed it up to send back I flipped the polarity of the speakers and holy crap it came alive!. Believe it or not, I am suspecting that the polarity of the outputs are reversed!! This mistake is possibly the result of a production error of screen printing the +/- symbols on terminals being reversed. Anyway I am now highly impressed with the sound and power this little gem has, as long as doesn't release any smoke. I plan on contacting Rockville of my discovery to see what the say. Love your vids, but can you add full range sound testing to full range amps and typical current draw during complex music?

    Big D, I have to imagine that these other guys (non gender specific) do the same as I do, assuming they find themselves in similar situations.., like once again today I sold an old Punch 45 I had and within 2 minutes I had already mentioned the 'Wiz' and this channel. I've probably said this before and I'll likely say it again... There needs to be some sort of legit reform in the car audio world and it's been coming since I was a first timer myself back when I installed my 1st Punch 45 after being sorely disappointed in some other brands wares after being fooled by bogus ratings... The point I'm trying to drive home is that I see OSCA and Big D Wiz at the forefront of this movement and I am thrilled to be able to see it happen. Especially in such a 'grossroots' fashion!
    I learned the hard way that you get what you pay for, and I don't like the idea of another first timer going though this and I feel in the end we'll owe much of that to this man. You're a legend already my friend. I hope to shake your hand one day. Thanks..

      Even cooler is that D does this not by finger pointing or being an opinionated ass.. he does it simply by showing these manufacturers that we expect to get what they claim and no less.. The amount of subscribers is what shows the manufacturers that were watching them and that's why I suggest subscribing., Lol I promise i get nothing out of this except the satisfaction of videos like the ones released by a company I shall not name here trying to scramble to cover up their mess like a nervous cat. And for that I want to also thank EXO and the EMF Audio channel for their part. It must be nice to be 16 right now... Oh the things I could rattle loose with the toys that have come to be in 2020!

      @cekpi7 Před 5 lety +2

      Depends on power supply design, most good brands go overkill and design it to peak much higher than amp is capable of producing. Doesn't say anything about how good output section is, but i wouldn't push this thing full tilt for long sessions.

    • @303nitzubishi4
      @303nitzubishi4 Před 5 lety

      It's tough to explain but technically you are correct. As the other commentor noted, the power supply is key in Dynamic power (or "headroom" as a similar term) Since budget amps like this are built to a price point, it is going to be engineered to hit CEA compliant numbers to put it in the same "class" as a comparable amp from another manufacturer. Not a single watt more as this would add to the manufacturing cost.
