Why I don’t use google maps ? It puts my house two blocks west in between two different houses. Even my sync 2 got that correct after several SD upgrade maps.

Curious how you like it after having it a while? Any problems surface? I'm co sidering doing the same after watching your video. I have an f350 so should be similar process. Only issue so far has been finding as-built data. The site your link references is down.
i have a 2015 f150 platinum with sync 2. Could you help me figuring out what i would need for sync 3 with android auto? how will i know if i need a module only or both for my version i already have?
You say you showed us how you got the as built data, but you didn't aha do you use your vins as built and it works or you find an as built from a sync 3 truck and input its blocks?
Luckily I have a 2016.5 so my sync 3 upgrade consisted of changing out the USB to a lightning or USB3 plug and updating the software...very easy
Apple CarPlay is awesome for Navi, I want to find a way to play videos through the screen...

Nice detailed vid. upgrading to sync 3 upgrade the voice commands right? Calling anyone on sync 2 is so bad I opt to fumble with my phone which isn’t very safe. All voice features improve I hope? Talk to text Apple car play and so on...
I don't use talk to text but it seems like the overall experience has been improved.

So you could save your OG sync2 as built then restore that file once u swap in the sync3 instead of typing everything in?

Yes. Everything was solid. Wish I recorded before and after but basically before, I had no back up camera and some other minor stuff. After, everything was like it should be when I had sync 2.
LETMELIVE Very cool! Your video inspired me to do the same thing. Got my apim and screen from the local junk yard and rest from eBay/amazon . The only issue i have (first world problems) is my ambient lighting does not stay on by default. But i wanted to thank you so much for posting this video - very informative and its the best mod yet on the truck (2015 F150 Platinum). Both apple car play and android auto work + my update to sync 3.0 seems to have registered on Ford owner website too.

Mark Wilcox ...no . I made a mistake in the sequence of events. Tried to do the nav in motion mod and then connected to WiFi - now ford thinks i have a kmph / European truck... bummer

Yes, check out some forscan videos. Easy fix, just enable it.
Do you have to replace the gps /antenna for a system with navigation?
I believe the GPS antenna is different on sync 3. Good thing it's cheap.
Yes. However I did not " replace". The sync 2 apim does not have a gps going into it so I left the original in. I did put a new gps antenna in for the sync 3 apim

I'm currently looking at some now...by any chance do you know if that USB-C would work for the Gen 1 Raptor?
@@spydermonkey2127 your gen 1 raptor should be an identical upgrade to what I did. In the video I state though, the USB c will only work with certain versions of the apims. So just make sure you follow that.
@@spydermonkey2127 gen 1 raptors use 2 different radios depending on the year it might not work. Also if yours as factory heated or cooled seats it gets more complicated.
