Alternative theory: Patrick went to a regular grocery store to buy soda, but because he's not the brightest, he calls it the "soda store". Patrick also never went to college at all, Flats just knew he was Spongebob's best friend and approached him and said "Hey! Remember me? We went to college together!" This one statement was enough for Patrick to create a false memory, as he is shown multiple times through the series to be highly suggestible.

Even Squidward wouldn't kill SpongeBob, he has morals on multiple-occasions; for example when standing up to Mr.Krabs when SpongeBob had the soul taken towards the Dutchman, and when the Pizza man made SpongeBob cry. And Mrs.Puff was shown to care about SpongeBob on several occasions even though people don't notice it, For example when she was in the prison episode where she didn't want to go back to Boating School she wouldn't tell SpongeBob that she hated him enough to get away from him and stood up for him in the same episode that he shouldn't go to jail beacuse he's 'just a boy' or something like that. Patrick is too dumb to honestly Hire a hitman and SpongeBob is his 'Best Friend', he cried his eyes out when SpongeBob left to join the Jellyfish, why on earth would that dumb Starfish kill off his best friend?

I think Mrs.Puff definitely let Flats get away with it. Either with her help or just her turning a blind eye to Flats' harassment because she didn't like SpongeBob. Classic teacher turns a blind eye to abuse situation. But I disagree about Patrick, I think its more likely he got tricked by Flats with some mind games. I think Flats could have easily confused Patrick to the point where he doubted his own memory and thought maybe they did meet each other before. I think the soda shop part is real, I mean who says there isn't a soda shop for no reason? There's plenty of other shops we know about too. So really I think Patrick sadly is just really easily manipulated and thats why he said that. Or who knows, maybe he went to college for a few weeks and then dropped out and they met during the short time span he was there. That could also make sense to me.

In one of the post-Hilenburg era episodes, Puff did try to kill Spongebob. So maybe she hoped Flats would rid her of him.

You talk about how Patrick doesn't seem like the type to attend college, when Pat says he met Flatz in college, however Patrick said COMMUNITY college, not regular college. A community college is open to anyone who wants to follow a course compared to college admission, meaning essentially anyone could get in, so Patrick going to community college makes sense. I won't dismiss the idea of Flatz going to community college either, as he doesn't seem very bright, intelligence-wise. About the bit where you talk about Flatz being able to drive garbage truck without a licence, you said "Since Flatz knows how do drive, why would he need to go to boating school?" The answer is simple, you may know how to drive, or be good at driving, but just not have a licence, therefore you'd need to get your driving test done, so you can get a licence.
Pushing all of that aside, Patrick is simply too stupid to pay a hitman (Flatz) to take out his best friend. Even then, your point about Patrick using Spongebob for money and food disproves this. If Patrick was living off Spongebob (which he clearly is) then killing Spongebob would result in Patrick not having anyone to leech off of.
Overall, it's an interesting concept, however it doesn't really check out.

You don't have to be a genius to go into community college, but it's disingenuous to say people who do are idiots. It's usually for careers that don't require a bachelor's or as a cheaper way to ger your first two or so years of college.
Why wouldn't it just be Ms Puff? It makes a whole lot more sense.
The part when the Flat’s dad says “Now he’s gonna kick my butt.” As if he’s terrified. Maybe he didn’t see the early signs of Flats becoming a manipulative psychopath and making threats about wanting to murder him. Did Flats do this to his dad even throughout his childhood? That is genuinely messed up. Do you know how much of a messed up psycho you gotta be to do that?
20 years of watching this episode and it took a CZcamsr in 2021 for me to think "huh.... that's is a little weird that flats can drive a semi even though he was going to boating school"
I think you made some interesting points. Definitely agree Flats has a personal vendetta against SpongeBob because SpongeBob wronged him in someway in the past. I definitely think one part of it is the whole “alien hunting” incident, but I offer another reason flats would want to beat up SpongeBob…Ok so it’s the episode where mermaid-man and barnacle-boy are taking SpongeBob on a ride along. They see a former villain of the heroes. His name is the “Atomic Flounder”, and he’s no longer a villain. He’s just a retired old man minding his own business when SpongeBob attacks him. Now what if Atomic Flounder is Flat’s grandfather. Having a supervillain as a grandfather probably didn’t do him any good in terms of mental health. It could be argued that the reason Flat’s father is scared of his own son is that he tried to set a good example for his son. It could have been a “redeem the family” situation, but the grandfather’s influence over flats is too strong. Thinking from Flats point of view: “I want to get back at this guy for not just what he did to be, but my grandpa too. Hey he has a teacher who dislikes him, and wouldn’t care if I beat him up. I could also hang out with his best friend too really mess with him…” that’s one way it could be interpreted.
I'll be honest. When I was a kid my mom would burn some toons onto vhs tape when we couldn't afford cable. This episode was one of em and this was pretty much how my mind presumed the episode.

Spongebob assaulted Atomic Flounder who might have been Flat's grandfather. When after Spongebob told Flats about a story about kicking someone's butt, Flats wanted to kick his butt twice as hard. Now we know that Flats is not referencing him in the story rather it might have been someone he knows which is coincidently Atomic Flounder.

The part about Sandy’s Rocket and Flatts being in that episode was mentioned in another video. To be fair Community College is easy compared to a 4 year college. One example I have there is at a CC Economics courses only require vocab words and understanding how they work in the economy and at a 4 year there’s also math in those courses. You’re still making great points though

Soda shops are real, but very outdated. In the 50s it was a social places for teens like a diner but primarily with ice cream and soda. There are still some places like that today.

I think you went off about Patrick hiring him. Much more likely that Puff did it. Patrick could simply be lied to and fall for it. This would fit with Alex Bale take on Puff. She is forced to teach Spongebob because Bottomfeeders revenge on her, she is not even allowed to charge Spongebob and just imagine all the costs he causes her as well. So she even got financial reason as to.

It's an anachronism. An old one. My grandmother was what was called a "Soda Jerk" which is basically someone who operates the bar at a soda shop.

“No such thing as a Soda Store” there is in my town. It’s a very popular hang out joint. For both teens and college adults. The cops love it as the teens are hanging out there rather than out committing crimes, doing drugs, or getting drunk.
The "parent is scared of their own child" is actually a pretty common trope in Nickelodeon shows or in general in TV, and many TV shows stated that. In Henry Danger, Henry's parents couldn't control Piper. In the Thundermans, Nora's own parents were afraid of her. It's implied that Vicky's parents in Fairly Odd parents couldn't control her either. And that's only a few examples. Of coursee those shows were aired much later, but I still think it's kinda a Nickelodeon thing.

Patrick didn't even know who his real parents were. Of course he can be convinced to have gone to college with flats. Additionally, I know 3 soda stores in my city alone as well as a large handful of soda "shops" that serve dirty sodas.

I’ve been watching your theory videos recently. I loved your video about Mrs. puff being a criminal there was plenty of evidence to support that theory. And the theory about Squiliam (don’t know if I’m spelling that right) was actually quite interesting and it being highly likely. And the idea that Flatts did this to get revenge on SpongeBob for what happened when he rounded him up thinking he was an alien, and Mrs. Puff being in on it I can see that part being true cause she really hates spongebob. But Patrick being in on it? I don’t know I think that was a bit of a stretch. Especially when Patrick was willing to try to help SpongeBob pass his boating test.
The idea is not completely far-fetched, but the idea of Patrick being in on it I think you’ve presented better and more likely theories. And not there being a pizza castle or soda store? How do we know those don’t exist in the spongebob world? They have a store for pranks, they have the chum bucket, etc. This idea might be a bit of an argument from silence.

Soda store might be Patrick saying soda aisle in the store, but as you called it a soda shop. Soda shops are common in some regions in the US and Canada. It is called a malt shop in some areas. I have been to one a few times when in Indiana. It is also common to see in 50's based movies and shows. However as what looked to be a glass of tea was held up, I took it as the soda aisle in the store, just said in a Patrick sort of way. Though to be honest, the first time I watched that episode I took it as a pub/bar reference.

I think Mrs puff hired flats bc she knows if he kills or beats spongebob and makes him scared to go back to boat school. That is why she uses spongebobs name when he told her not to. How would Patrick know that? Remember the episode where Patrick negotiated with the Flying Dutchman? "5 wishes" "Ok 4" "3 wishes" "ok 3 wishes" "cool", Patrick is not a super genius.
liquor stores usually sell sodas as well as gas stations so he might have gone to either of those places and bumped into Flats.

Ok, there's a lot of holes to this theory that I disagree on.
For starters, Flats didn't know who was SpongeBob in every episode he was in prior to The Bully, in fact in the same episode and footage as seen here in 3:01, both SpongeBob and Flats introduced themselves, only to end with Flats saying he'll kick SpongeBob's butt. he didn't know where SpongeBob lived until later in same episode I just talked about.
When Patrick said he & Flats met in College, he actually said he met him in COMMUNITY College. Which is completely different then Regular College. As for Patrick hiring Flats to kill him, while he is shown to be quite smart in some episodes, he's still stupid. The only way this could work is if it was Smart Patrick from the Season 4 episode Patrick SmartPants. Or probably Squidward, considering that he hates SpongeBob, or better Mrs. Puff, since she can't STAND him.
And Last but not least, this entire is just the plot of the Season 3 episode, Litter Bug, in which the Tattletale Strangler is trying to kill SpongeBob after what he did to him. At least in that episode the Tattletale Strangler pretended to be SpongeBob's bodyguard in order to eat him socially instead of psychotically, like most killers.
