Tesla should've won the breaking test, it stopped so close to Zoe, but you need to consider Tesla is probably heavier than Zoe, which means Tesla has a better breaking efficiency.

NO! it is not a horrendous car. It's far from perfect but so are most cars. My mum has a Zoe, it pulls away faster than most cars and that includes fast BMWs and AUDIs. Its just set to reduce battery consumption once you get to about 40MPH. I drive a fast car but I love driving my Mums Zoe because its so nippy at slow speeds and easy to drive. The tests done here were a good comparison between the Tesla and Zoe but also fairly pointless.

Of course there are downsides to EVs, mainly the charging time and lack of infrastructure for charging. But ICE vehicles especially diesels are on the way out. FACT.

The 4th test you can't really use... Human difference...
The range are just estimates based on previous driving styles.
They drived slow...means when it got pushed before it shoudl gain range and not lose..
Patrick Köppe he meant that the cars calculate the range based on how much of a heavy foot you use driving. The Tesla saw that they were stepping on it and it uses a lot more energy than the Zoe on a launch. The car thought they were going to keep pushing it like that so it calculated a range based on the previous driving dynamics.

The only problem with Zoe, in my opinion, is that it _looks_ like an Electric Car which attaches all the stereotypes of an underpowered less ranged ev

I think the ZOE's design is similar to the Renault Twingo and I see that car everywhere in the city.
Looks sorta like a crossover of a clio and a twingo, I'd say the major differences are the light blue accents, and to be honest I like that it looks different, when you own an electric you essentially own the future, and it is indeed a very futuristic exterior design, which I like. Inside? Ehhhh perhaps not so much.

The Later 170bhp 320i 4pot was a little better but still lacked torque.
Although the E30 & E36 6 pot 320i had character but only 150bhp. Worth bearing in mind.
And prior to E91 170bhp 4pot
Their was the E46 320i with a 6 Cyl 170bhp .
So I guess respectively the 4chlinder 320i were comparable to there 6 cylinder 320i .
Basically the 320i has always been the shit end of the Stick .
I did have a 1989 325i sport in diamond Schwartz . Only 170bhp but it was bloody brilliant to drive 👍

Both are hugely significant cars for the industry. Love them both.
Just want to also point out that a lot of the Zoe’s regen is linked to the brake pedal whereas the Tesla gets full regen when you lift. So if you press a bit on the pedal in the Zoe you’ll get no friction brake and significantly more regen so it probably would have stopped at a similar distance.
the new Zoe will have this new style of braking as well.
retro666future I hope it is adjustable like it is on the e-Golf. I don’t want full regen automatically. But I also don’t think having it on the brake pedal is the best choice either because when you have to stop fully it makes it jerky and hard to adapt to. Some kind of paddle system would be great to see. But just give people choice.
Having driven a few Teslas I just live that regen. My own seat tdi breaks so poorly in comparison

I know middle class people driving Tesla, but usually leased through their company. In France you don't pay the punitive company car tax, in London you don't pay congestion charge, etc. Lots of perks.
The Zoe nobody wants in France because when you buy one you are not allowed to buy the battery. You have to lease them for the rest of your life. Leasehold it a bit of an alien concept down here. Plus in Nice there are Zoe parked all over the city you can rent for €8/hr including fuel and insurance. For times of desperation as it's not a comfy ride.

I drove a lot of these from a rental car company. They are quite fast in the city. It could follow an m2 in like 0 to 70 km. The instant torque is cool.

+Alex Williams no - both cars drove round the 3 mile long track steadily at about 50mph side by side. Afterwards the Zoe's remaining range had gone down by 3 miles but the Tesla had dropped 6 miles - ie if you want to know how far you can go in a Tesla it's actually half what the car says it can do. Not good!
Just to be sure, we repeated it several times with the Mat and the other driver trying each car, and got exactly the same result every time.

Tesla's always display Rated or Typical range (in Europe, depending on setting, in USA it's Ideal and Rated) NOT Projected. Renault and other EV manufactures usually display Projected range, based on recent energy consumption. Tesla used to have that option as well in the early days, but they deliberately chose to make constant range values for ease of understanding and comparison. The projected range is still available in the Energy Consumption Graph AND is part of the integrated nav system however (showing you how much Projected range left at destination/next charger) :). So the 6 vs 3 mile result in the video is completely logical. The Model S does use more of course, but not that much; about 210Wh/km vs. 160Wh/km for the Zoe.

The last test should've been how much power can be harnessed back through regenerative braking, in other words how much is lost to friction/heat. I know for the dual motor Teslas it's roughly 30%.

You failed on the last test. Zoe only engages partial regeneration when you lift off the acellerator, you have to press the brake pedal slightly to engage full regeneration. Zoe probably would have won that one.

I set my T to typical and I get pretty much exactly what the gauge says if not more. Rated is like saying you will actually get the related fuel consumption of a petrol car... not going to happen unless you are driving at 30 on a salt flat

In the last test using regenerative braking you can clearly see another person in the back seat of the Tesla. That would surely slow it down more.
The last test wasn't actually fair, because the Zoe doesn't apply full recuperation power until you press the breaking pedal. Without it, it will only apply between 50 and 25 percent to simulate the engine break force of a petrol car. The breaking pedal is actually a virtual pedal which only applies the mechanical break, if the electric break wouldn't be strong enough to accomplish the requested breaking force. So if you push the breaking pedal just a little bit, it won't actually use the mechanical breaks at all, but it would increase recuperation.
with 150k i would rather have the zoe and an actual fun sports car like a Corvette and with the remaining cash i could still buy a decent house
