This show and your joyfulness is the antidote for the tiresome disfunction that engulfs our lives. Long live Fully Charged and many thanks from a person who has lived nearly 25 years off the grid ! Bravo !!
The new ZOE feels much better built than the previous model and much more grown up.
@@leandrebonsaint153 its very strange.... Alcohol probably.....👍
@@xWood4000ha, I was just about to respond with this. Renault dropped a massive one with the new model ZOE.
Really love the tone of your reviews and the music you use! It's very entertaining (and informative)! Keep it up!
I like the Zoe has a good range. Definitely buy one in a few years when it's cheaper
"Robert having fun with a warm hatch"
11:30 love your Jeremy Clarkson impressions, it always brings a big smile on my face.
Nissan Leaf e-Pedal (one-pedal driving) is brilliant. The last time I used the brakes in my Leaf was in early January.
You might want to brake every so often to get the rust off your disks.
So when you come to need them in an emergency, they don’t work! Brake disc rust, so they need constant daily use to keep them clean and efficient, that means using them at least once a day, otherwise you risk failing stopping altogether, or at a much longer distance than if they were clean! That’s your lesson in engineering for today!
Love how they cut the Tesla clip with Robert screaming, leaving us in suspense...
Would like to see some more manufacturers do something similar in size , Model 3 & Y is a bit big for what I need
A Tesla 2, Golf sized with 200 mile real world range for under 25k would do me nicely. It has to be possible.
Jon Donnelly possibly, but Tesla will not be able to mass produce them to bring the cost down to 25k. In a few years it could very well be a reality!
well, there's a large number of zoe-sized (or thereabouts) cars hitting the market now - mostly tri-body clones, but at least you get a choice of body style, even if the underlying mechanics are the same.
@@harsimranbansal5355 aye, battery tech has doubled capacity in the same size in 10 years. 10 years ago it was though impossible to do that without a radical new invention. It was done with many small incremental changes and the same thing has happened with charging speed. The model 3 is an impressive car, less would do!
i really like the sound/music choice used in this channel
Nice to see you roadtesting in Broadway Robert! :-)
Thanks for a great video we got our ze50 gt line r135 lol . 4 months ago and done 6800 miles and love it ! Best we had out of Zoe is 256 miles on one charge on mixed trips and best I got in mid summer on flat 25 miles trip was 6.8 miles per kWh! Regularly get 220-240 even 230 miles on motorway in summer. Last week or so getting less about mid 4s to early 5 s and at 60_65 mph in wind and rain with climate control on 22c auto motorway trip of 155 miles and had 60 mikes left got 4.4 miles per kWh that was good I think.
"Noone cares about -60 times in electric cars" - every second Tesla Model S video = hard launch. All Renault need to do to make it a hot hatch - whack a Zoe Esport kit on it!
Esport reads too close to Escort, or Esprit.
A Hot Hatch Renault should be a Gordini car. Hell, one upgraded with liquid cooling and AWD/RWD could be sold under the Alpine name.
@@TroySavary Why can't people admit that Tesla has the best EV engineering on the road to date, and has been a leader since the Roadster? Would saying that destroy your ego, and if so, why?
@@stedavid13 It'd be nice if Tesla considered the vast majority of people who haven't got £40,000 in their pocket, and made a car in the 20K range - especially as they claim to want to bring the EV revolution to everyone - and that's presumably to more people than also own an Aga and live in rural Surrey in a barn conversion, ^oo^
I couldn't help my self... I have tears in my eyes of laughing so much on minute 5:10 :) :) :) :)
Great video, did notice a slight speck of dirt on your Model 3 in the background. ;) I was just visualising Jonny as well agreeing with you about there needing to be a Hot Hatch EV this isn't it very luke warm but hopefully in future something will come out.
what happened to the Zoe with the Formula E motor in it they did as a concept? i would love to see a proper hot Zoe with that set up!

Groovy incidental music.
GT Line is just the top trim level, you can get the R135 at other points in the range. Big advantage of the GT Line is you get the large screen included. This includes android auto/ apple car play which isn't included in the rest of the range! We were unaware of this when we put our order in for an Iconic spec Zoe and by the time we found out it was too late to change. It's gonna be a bugger having a brand new car without modern connectivity.
The very first thing I check on a new car purchase is... "Will it have Android Auto". If it doesnt then it comes no where near the short list. e208 GT is on order. Should have been here but for the whole shutdown issue. Android Auto is a must nowadays.
Hadn't realised that - that's a massive own goal. 25 grand and it doesn't have basic connectivity. Going to have to rethink this again. Thanks for flagging
@@cannavaras it was the first thing we asked too but because we pre-ordered the salesman wasn't sure of the spec. We tried to amend the order when we discovered that it didn't have connectivity or parking sensors / assistance but it was already in production.
@@ozzieparky it has Bluetooth but what's the point when you can't select a track without touching your phone.
Jesus Christ this is why I hate OEMs bulshitty tactics not including default functionalities and making them pay at a premium. We're in 2020 and this is borderline scammy.
When I was still allowed out I was getting around 150 miles range from my ZE40 at night and 5-10 degrees C. In summer I get 180-190 miles range. I would hope the ZE50 would therefore be close to 240 miles in the summer. It does all depend on where you drive and how fast you go of course. The speed limits on my regular jouneys have all been reduced to the point where 0-60 isn't legal on them (dual carriageways now 50 mph limits to reduce pollution and other roads reduced from 60 to 40).
Yer 256 best had in one charge in ze50 all summer had 240s 250 and had upto 6.8 miles per kWh on flat 25 miles trip mid summer and 200 miles with bit left on 60-65 mph motorway runs . What you get on motorways in ze40?
@@nickieredshaw7835 motorway was about 180 miles if I slipstreamed a truck. I seem to remember about 130 miles at 70 mph
Talking about 5° C. Are you able to use the heater while you are charging? Aparently is impossible. It is so uncomfortable to charge in winter if you have to stay on the car and the exterior temperature is close to 0° Celsius.
@@AngelKsiezyca bit late for me to reply, but just in case it’s helpful for you or anyone else reading this, you can heat the ZOE whilst charging, by using the preheat function (either keyfob or programme, but programme seems to last longer). It is daft that you can’t just have the heating on normally, though, and I had half expected a software upgrade or something to allow it.
Video quality is very good.

Only trouble is if the Zoe is like the Clio, at 6 foot, I'm going to have my knees round my ears.
I think it's time for Pressure Cooker episode, they are like the electric cars of the cooking world :P
Interesting to know the Zoe GT has a 22-kilowatt ac-to-dc charger built in, Oh my goodness! Really impressive, with a wide range and good performance.
That Tesla clip never gets old, hilarious!
My wife has a Zoe 40kwh. It takes 4 hours to charge (3-phase). My Leaf 40kwh takes 12 hours. Why more carbrands don't allow 3-phase is beyond me.
Johan Jern not many people have it in the UK. This place is full of 7kw chargers. Whereas France is full of 22,43kw ones 😊
It would not be used domestically by most people. Not including it cuts costs and causes most people little inconvenience.
I believe earlier Teslas allowed 22 kW charging on three-phase, but they stopped doing that, presumably to save some money.
Here in Norway, everyone has three-phase, but our Leaf does not have three-phase charging, and it's kinda a bummer that it cannot utilise it
Other cars have separate chargers which take space and are heavy - and for three phases / more power they would be even bigger, heavier and more expensive. That's why they have 7kW charger max as a compromise (1 phase, 32A). On the other side, Zoe is using patented (so others can't copy) chameleon technology without additional charger: it's using existing motor and controller for charging. Since the motor is already three phases and controller can use motor as generator in regenerative braking - it's rather simple for it to use three phase AC charging. This is the reason why Zoe (and maybe Tesla?) can charge on full 22kW power of standard Type2 charging station.
22kw is good for us as at local free pod point is 22 kw so can get good bit free juice in a hour or two
Impressive really, big range and decent performance , don't forget is a family car not sports car...so....good design nice interior...I like it

The city car segment is getting pretty crowded! Mini looks better, Honda might be more practical, but this one is not to be sneezed at, either.
The Honda-E is gorgeous (won't get into practicality), the Mini is the same old boring overblown s#!^e
I love the honda-e, imagine if they made a type R version that looked closer to the original concept

Thats what Hot Hatchback should be
One thing to mention about the Zoe: It's SUPER comfy to sit in. Especially if you're a tall person. Lots of headroom, and also a pretty seating position.
I just need a 200+ Runaround....hopefully it will turn up in a week or three !
0:35 heavy Artlist flashbacks 😅😂😂
Have one of these on order to be delivered in may (possibly but who knows) as our second car, took delivery of model 3 earlier this month and had eGolf previously. The Zoe is great at what it is supposed to do, decent range city car with capacity to go further, looked at mini (3 door only so no good) Honda (not big enough boot) and e208 (slight restriction in entry to rear but also 70 a month more) also looked at ex demo eGolf but same cost half the range.
I'll be excited by a car like this when its £15k.
I was thinking brand new. But yes, I would rather a 2nd hand version for £5k also. I only do 7k miles or so per year.
2nd hand this will be the price of one in 5 years.
In 5 years the price of a 50kw hatchback will hopefully be about £25k before grants with better in car entertainment than what is already good and present in the zoe.
Please please please can warm hatch become a new class of car. I love it.
It kinda is. Just not an "official" one. Examples include this, the i30 Turbo, Suzuki Swift Sport and Ford Focus Red Edition
I've heard this term ages ago and there are plenty of cars that fit perfectly in this category.
yeah it's a very old term. Peugeot 205 XS, Renault Clio RSi, Vauxhall Nova SR etc...
For those wondering how fast a Tesla M3 charges:
Since the official stats for the Long Range Model 3 say it has 329 miles of range, that means a complete recharge using one of those 200 kW chargers should take about 20 minutes - about the time it takes to freshen up and have a quick bite at most service areas.Jun 10, 2019

Top Gear Declares Tesla Model 3 Fastest Charging Car In The World ...
Hi. Very informative and cool channel.
I have a few questions if you allow me.
How much is the lift time of the battery? I mean when will I have to replace it and how much does the replacement cost me then?
And the last question is that
since I live in the middle of Iraq which has a hot weather sometimes even 55 C° in summer is this car safe to drive here with this hot condition?
Thanks, Rob. Just got my RT Line. Told my wife I am self-isolating in it. Why? Because the Renault dealer handover went like this. "Please sign here. Thanks. Here are the keys. Goodbye. We are closing and I've got the sack."
So, it's just me and the Zoe and the manual. All good as most things are intuitive. Can't access the My Renault app as Renault have screwed up unless you are in any country except the UK. Everything works! No preconditioning on the key fob, unlike the 40kw version. So, this is programmed from the very responsive touch screen but a bit of a bugger if you change your plans last minute from the set schedule.
Otherwise, my nought to sixty was a good bit quicker than yours. And now I don't want to get out and mix with non-Zoe people. Merci.
The app now works . I can set charging and check range etc and after Friday can pre heat from the app . Update your app or contact dealership see if you need fix or contact Renault customer service
I'm so into ev from this youtube channel. I'm just hoping my future purchace isn't smegg!
'Warm Hatch' LOL!
« I call it a really warm hatch,...really warm,...but I wouldn’t call it a hot hatch! » 😂😂👏🏼 Renault should’ve called this car « Slowey » instead of Zoé.
Have you tried a ze50 r135 ? You would be surprised at how much faster you can get upto town speeds or 50-60 mph than normal manual ice cars . I’ve beaten good bit more powerful car off the line .
@fullychargedshow Just invested in your Seedrs.com crowdfunding!

Put A Big Smile That Hurt On My Face By The End Of This Video!!! Soo You Could Say That I'm Very CHUFFED... LOL Thanks Robert
Thanks for your video. Talking about charging. Are you able to use the heater while you are charging? Aparently is impossible. It is so uncomfortable to charge in winter if you have to stay on the car.
Madness on so many levels - £46,650 for a Vauxhall Grandland X Phev and they want an extra £500 for a fast charge cable.
Stephen G Only the battery chemistry determines how fast it can charge, not the power rating of the charger!
No Robert... Not "faster than ANY Tesla"... The Model X and some Model S can charge @ 22Kw on a home charger. Just faster than a Model 3. Love your car reviews btw! So much more fun than tooooo serious Johnny.
From my understanding of the Renault web site, the new Zoe will only charge at 22kW AC, needing the CCS cable to charge at 50kW DC. Only the older Q90 motor charged at 43kW AC. Am I wrong?
If Renault made a sporty Renault Zoé that looked sporty and has sporty performance I’d be very inclined to buy it 😏😏
I love this car, wish they did have more of a sporty version though. Still, the look on peoples faces you get when you accelerate from the traffic lights.
Yeah, Renault showed off a really sporty 2-motor version years ago, but never made it into production unfortunately.
Yer it’s classic I would love to see there faces sometimes lol and were doing it at a Fifth or the 10th the fuel costs !
If buying 2nd hand Ev what are the options to fit home charger?
Thank you for yet another brilliant video. BUT please don't wave your arm around like that while driving, we would rather like you to stay safe and well.
Hello Robert,
Ici France,
EV's are being adopted only slowly in France, as the distances between towns is larger than the UK, but
will return in the cities, despite the failure of Voiturelib in Paris.
Zoe production was ramping up: 1813 Jan 18, 3662 Jan 19, and 9591 Jan 20.
The Teslas you see on the motorway are usually Belgian or Swiss.
Keep up the good work,
Cordialement,
5:10 Ten hours of this clip would do me nicely. xD "Ohh ohh f!"
Is there maybe a setting in the menu or a button to increase-decrease the regen power? I mean besides using the gear lever actively. I'm not familiar with the new Zoe but most cars have some setting for that, maybe that enables a strong regen and one pedal driving?
Correction... You can open the charge port with the key 😊
Is that on ze50? How ? You can Disconnect cable from the key use that but can’t how to
Open the port from key in ze50. But mostly your inside the car when you want to open port so no big problem
Any plans to update this to reflect the NCAPS Zero stars?
Still love the clip when you shat in your pants launching the P100DL Tesla 😂
Realy like the video!! In the old Zoe it's possible to push a button on the key to open the charger. Is that feature removed?
Yes it’s been removed you can press unlock button few times to remove cable and close flap at least but mostly when you want to open flap your inside so not big thing.
Could you do a vid on home chargers. What you need to ask for for faster home charging. Adding it to old houses
Loved the normal ZOE a lot, each time I test drove it - a "GT" must be even more lovable. Still the ZOE remains #1 candidate for possible future car. (And don´t worry, Robert, GT-stickers and such things can be easilly fixed - that is what I work with!)
Very interesting
Great looking small economical vehicle. Unfortunately not available over here in Canada.
Great to see your review of the ZE50! Check out my review as a zoe owner I was seriously impressed with the improvements in build quality
we bought our first EV ...a Zoe of course, after seeing this.....never going back to ICE.
4:50 . . That cross roads looks very similar to the one that Harry, from Harrys Garage, often travels 🤔
The Zoe was the first electric Car I drove back in 2012 when Renault were doing test drives in the middle of Birmingham. I had followed electric cars on the web on a site I think was called the Electric Vehicle Society.
When is the Zoe going to be sold in Canada ? Come on lets get this done !!!
I like it when a car goes faster than it looks.
If you look at the Peugot cars, they have a GT Line trim level which is topped by the GT trim level. Maybe Renault will be putting out a Zoe GT Hot Hatch version within a year or two.
I've a an e2008 on order. It's a GT, and its no different in performance that any of the cheaper variants, its just trim level. However, the GT in the Pug has many of the active safety features that the GT line does not, which is why I went for it and am paying a bit more on the lease, as I judge the extra £20 quid a month or so to be worth it. I think it's officla 0-60 is around 8.5s, but not an issue for me, my Leaf 30kWh is quick enough when out of Eco mode.
Is the R-Link computer any better in the newer ones? In our ZOEs (~4yr ago) it was immensely slow and frustrating to use :(
To unlock the charging port door press the unlock button on the remote :)
Is this for ze50 as far as I know you can’t open the port without go inside? You can unlock the cable with the unlock button.. but mostly when you want to open the port your inside so not big thing.
After testing it I can’t get charging flap to open on the key fob on ze50 ? If you know how let me know please
I think you mis spoke, the new zoe will only charge up to 22kw on AC. Not 43. If you have a CCS you can charge at 50kw 😊
Zoe, the most all round sensible small EV, not the quietest but if you bought it outright you could add some better lightweight insulation (thinsulate).
It *has* got a sport button - it's just labelled "Eco". Press that button to take it out of eco mode and you have sport mode.
Interesting thanks
Next in line ZOE RS, 6 sec to 60 ( motor like 204 hp as in the e niro) and a stiffer suspension.
That’s how they sell EV’s you make them hot hatches people enjoy. Kids say to mums and dad’s approaching being able to drive take a whole new interest in mum or dads next car and try to influence. When I passed we had our second car as a wee Novo and then a Citroen AX. The AX had a spoiler from the manufacturer for god sake. Loved them both even when slow by today’s cars.
You just reviewed my next car, current car is a 2016 zoe 22kw and I have managed 119 miles to a charge, but if I can get the advatised range then I can get to anywhere I need to go in one stop not 4 like in my current zoe 😁 I like the understated looks, hopefully Renault will bring out the Zoe Sport with 4 wheel drive and be like the old clio sport to drive pitty the Renault dearlship and factory had to close (fully support though), will order when they open again

Yer great car. So cheap second hand deals about if you in uk . 140£ a month for 4 year old Zoe some with no battery lease
This explains why 90% of the chargers in Brittany (and maybe the rest of France) have 22kwh AC charging. Alas my Kia E Niro can charge at a maximum of 7kwh. The French government last year put two charge points in nearly every French town and village.
Any ideas what the situation is for people who have ordered cars and had build slots and rough dates for delivery? Certainly delayed but i’ve heard nothing about my Zoe GT Line order from Renault and don’t know anyone with an EV on order. Might be nice to have a piece about this.
I had a call yesterday. Mine is still being built and was originally scheduled for late April /early May. Obviously that is unlikely to happen now, but no one knows what is going to happen over the next few months. They said they would keep in touch to let me know.
It's a shame they didn't use the design from the fantastic Zoe e-Sport Concept that we saw a few years ago. That would sell units even if the acceleration isn't really all that hot :p
So, the Zoe GT has a built-in ac to dc charger that can do 22 Kw? ... Wow!

Estimating range as you drive is more complicated than it seems, because every single action and circumstance has a direct effect on range. But to be fair, ICE vehicles have the same exact issue. I was in a rental (ICE) SUV once years ago that had a realtime MPG gauge and it fluctuated WILDLY as I drove up and down hilly areas, around curves, slow and on highways, etc. If it had had a range meter, based on that MPG and fuel available it also would have found it difficult to pin down a reliable number. Hook up a trailer and things get even more complicated...
UK countryside spacious, wide, green and beautiful, with roads as wide as bicycle paths.
True- I parked my 22kw charging Zoe beside a Tesla Model S already charging..In 30 mins I'd taken more Juice than the Tesla that'd been there 15 mins longer..
What a shame that Renault is not sold here in Canada,..I would think that today the Zoe would have some sales potential here.
The Tesla clip was like going into warp speed! Thanks Robert - a bit of much needed light relief this morning. Keep well.
