Somehow we forget that by the time Naruto and Sasuke get their hax powers Madara stops screwing around. Even though there's been no one who can touch him the moment Naruto...
1.) Reverse the terminal affects of a jutsu no medical jutsu possible should be able to stop.
2.) Touch the truth seeking orbs.
3.) Dodge his limbo clones. On top of that produce a jutsu that genuinely terrified him. Terrified him even more than Night Guy.
Madara felt like it was entirely possible for him to lose. The dance was over. He didn't want to play any more which is why he scrambled to get the 2nd Rinnegan and after obtaining it immediately hoped to a jutsu that would distract the heroes long enough to use the Infinite Tsukuyomi.
Well he prepared for like eighty years, so it makes sense.

At first he was just using core hand-to-hand combat techniques because the army didn't pose too much of a threat or he just wasn't impressed enough to give them his all.

It was a "business move" since introducing Kaguya relates to Boruto as it supports the Otsutsuki story. Also, Kishimoto wanted to end the Series at a perfect 700 chapters, and having a Madara fight would involve more chapters so he couldn't. He was also being pressured to end the Series so they could start on Boruto. Unlike the "Itachi would defeat Madara" false interview, I can understand why some people would believe what you said because it really was a pathetic way to "defeat" Madara

Ngl Naruto was one of my favorite shows of all time. I was so disappointed to see the writers back themselves into a corner when writing Madara, but at the same time it taught me so much about what it takes to write a good villain. Even when the story went ass up we were still sticking around for Madara and that says plenty about what a menace he was.
"Black air force energy" was a term created specifically for Madara since no phrase in the human language could be used to describe him.

Madara has got to be one of my favorite anime villans, and villans in general, he's got it all the aesthetic, the speed, the smart mouth and the incredibly insane power to backup all of his big threats and calling anyone other then the man that beat him and Naruto in one of his strongest forms meer warmups and practice fights. After the Fourth Ninja War, I'm certain all surviving ninjas had to undergo mandatory chemotherapy or something similar. The amount of radiation they were exposed to from all those bombs and meteorites guarantees a high risk of cancer.
Madara was so broken that his defeat is a plot hole. An inconsistency. A mathematical and scientific impossibility. He has rinnegan, sage mode and broken healing powers. Even if someone could sneak him it's not working.

One hilarious detail about the fight against the army that really shows the level of disrespect Madara was putting out is that he kept things to the army's level at all times.
When he first went in, he was fighting using hand to hand because they were fighting hand to hand.
When they started using weapons he started using weapons.
He didn't cast any ninjutsu techniques until Temari used her wind to blow him away.
He didn't break out the unique Uchiha powers until Gaara and the Tsuchikage used their unique bloodline powers.
