A lot has been said about the Washington Quarter Dollar's Spitting Eagle, and we are discussing several years that have this die clash on them. The most common year for this die clash seems to be the1983 Washington quarter. The 1983, 1990, 1994, and 1998 are the years I have in my collection. The quarters that are in MS condition and display a very clear die clash will be worth more to the owner of the the coin. Also it is nice to have these in your collection if that is what you like collecting. Some sell for a few dollars, while others in MS condition may sell for hundreds or more when in great condition and a buyer is willing to pay the asking price. It is nice to have these varieties in one's collection.

Using a quarter from 1988, I was able to line up the lower part of Washington's throat on the obverse with the 'spitting' strike on the reverse. Good explanation on the strikes. Thanks!
