  • Making your locos match up to the modern products is easier than you think. Don't be afraid to get stuck into cutting bits off and adding new details. On this episode I wanted to repaint the loco but ended up also adding lots of nice features and a ‪@HornbyModelRailways‬ HM7000 blue and DCC control chip which I purchased from Tony's trains of Rugby
Items I used to detail the project are
Smoke box door handles GWR 5.0mm long (Comet models)
Loco Crew right hand drive (monty's models) visit Dart Castings website for this.
Coupling hooks 2953 (MJT Scale components)
GWR Transfer sheet 7 (HMRS Transfers)
    Cab side plates (Fox transfers)
Hornby Dcc Chip HM7000 (Tony's trains of Rugby)
Horby DCC power bank (Tony's trains of Rugby)
    Vacume pips (Wizard models)
    01:58 HM7000 fitting
    04:00 Loco Body modification
    06:50 Paint the body
    12:20 adding transfers
    14:05 HM7000 running
    30:00 Light Weathering
    30:52 Adding coal
    33:18 Club running

I like the repaint .. very nice ..
in order adjust the deacceleration the higher the value in cv 4 the longer it will take to stop .. higher the value the quicker it will stop . The same applies in cv 3

Absolutely beautiful job! Honestly sometimes wished you did commission work, because you do some marvelous work and it's so difficult getting the right shade of paint for British locomotives here in the USA. Either way, looking forward to what you'll be working on next! ^^

Tris, you are a legend! I love what you have done to this loco. At their price points there isn't any excuse for moulding lines. Thanks for your enthusiasm and skill. I'm near Rugby on Thursday so hoping to pop into Tony's trains and spend a few quid. Look forward to the next one, take care. 🙏

I don’t have an airbrush, but there are so many shades available in car paint aerosols, that for the moment I’ve had some success in finding good matches.

It's lovely, like it always looked like that. The added details certainly make a difference. You have reminded me that I have the old Mainline model in GWR green. It looks lovely but doesn't run all that reliably. I feel like I have neglected it so I must get it out of it's box for a service and a bit of a run. Love the 0-6-0 tender locos. 😊

Great job with the repaint and detailing. That stay alive certainly works well , kept going for quite a while. I’m not a big fan of sound decoders but Hornby have at least done a good job at a far more reasonable price than the main sound decoders and easy to reprogram with free sound files.

    • @OONeal
      @OONeal  Před rokem +1

Thank you 😊 yes I think even a normal chip for the hm7000 and a stay alive would be great for smooth running of any locos which may struggle.

Have not been doing much with CVs, but as I understand:
Acceleration and deceleration curves are opposite, so if you want a longer time to decelerate you need to increase the sliding bar :)

Hi Tris, great video! So for the HM7000 did you just hook up the motor wires to power the decoder and leave the speaker connected via its original wires or do you need to add a connection with some of the other wires on the decoder? Thanks!

Nice work Tris - can't beat an airbrush for finish✌️👍😊 How long did the project take🤔🤔
I was forced to repaint a 7mm Brake Van using brushes recently (my efforts are slow these days as it is), but I brushed on (with a flat sable) two thin coats of primer, then two thin coats of top coat (using Ultimate Thinners) - several days left between each. That way I saved the transfers, added some (wood like) texture and improved the incorrect satin RTR freight grey (looked more like a green). It turned out okay, taking the windows out was nerve wracking.

Do you use Vallejo model colour black or game colour black?

  • @timobluetreemodels352

What you are doing is sending you the wrong way. Take the standard 15 on deceleration and increase it to 40. Sound files don’t like being below 15 on either setting as it doesn’t have time to react. Good luck Timo.

  • @davemoore5222

Surely you need to _increase_ the ‘deceleration’, not reduce it…
