This video explains how easy it is to fit our decoder sockets to a locomotive. this is part one showing how to fit our products. The model shown is a hornby/mainline class 56. In using these once they are fitted, you don't have to solder and re-solder the joints if you want to change decoders its just a case of pull out and push in.

Just come across your channel is it better to fit these sockets first instead of just wiring a decoder in. I noticed that you took the old wires out, could you not just join an extension to them. I've just started with a layout and have a few diesels to convert to dcc

HOWARD POMFRET we recommend these sockets as it dosent void the decoders Warrenty. Also it enable you to exchange decoders down the line if you want to upgrade to sound decoders and bits like that. Yes, you could simply join extensions of existing wires. We replaced just to make the colour coding easier. Hope this helps.

What size wire is the green and yellow? Is this the same 16/0.2 used in droppers or would it be more 7/0.2?

James K Junction looking at the data sheets the 7/0.2. It has a rating of 1.4 amps which would be fine to connect to the motor to the board
