I used to watch your channel all the time and somehow your videos completely slipped under the radar. Looking back I’m shocked this happened as I’d say a good majority of my modelling techniques I learned from your channel! Keep up the great work, and apologies for my absence!!
Haha! I happen to volunteer in that shop - thanks for mentioning us! Hope you can come down another time and see what we've got on offer!
Congratulations on a well made documentary. Great, clear narration, an occasional hint of soft music... not too much and some really nice airbrush demonstrating. Keep them coming
Thank you Brian 😊
Congrats on a job well done. With the price of new locks it's great to see an older one restored.Regards Terry.
Thank you Terry!
Hi Tris, you put Hornby & Bachmann to shame, brilliant. All the best. Carl.
Thank you Carl!
In a word BRILLIANT !!!!!!!!!!!!! Cheers Greg from Australia
Well done Tris great transformation and finish you should be pleased with the outcome take care regards Barry..
Thank you Barry! I am very pleased :)
Loco looks lovely on the layout. Very good
Thank you very much 😊
Hi Tris. Really professional job, you could make a living at that.
Thanks Phil
Dean Goods are such a classic workhorse locomotive. These are the loco's who just go from station to station on pick up goods and not going rushing. As long as it didn't rain, you can enjoy yourself in the cab.
Beautiful model saved from being forgotten glad it’s owned by someone who cares for it :)
Thank you very much 😊
Very nice work, thanks for the video.
Great job Tris. Love it. You made that look SO easy. I always enough you posts. 🙂🙂
Great video Tris and great loco. I have the Locomotion/Oxford Rail Dean Goods too, which I bought earlier in the year at the Bristol Exhibition. It is one of my favourites
Excellent I’d like to get one of them one day
Cracking job there it really looks the part
Thank you Sir!
Super work there Tris, you've given that loco a whole new lease of life. And Groot looks really cute too!
Thank you Kevin,
Superb result, Tris! Hope you've managed to get it to run as well as it looks. Thanks for another great video. Simon.
Thank you Simon 😊
Looks and runs brilliant 👏 great video Triss thankyou
Hi. I really enjoyed this video. I have these locos and love them. You've done a marvelous job.
What lovely job you made of that loco. I must venture into Airbrushing. It always looks so easy when somebody else is using one. I have a few models that need attention. Martin. (Thailand)
You did a great job, and it's such a smooth runner for a kit built loco. You really lucked out with this.
Thank you i was really pleased to get hold of it
Great job, looks like new
It feels that way when I look at it
What a transformation, the Dean looks fantastic. Thoroughly enjoyed watching you do your magic on tired and less-well detailed locomotives. Looking forward to the next one. Good to see a bit of the layout too! Blessing Tris.
Thank you David, I am glad you enjoy the process
I always say I love your video and I do, but I think this one is my favourite so far 👌 i loved the vlog part at the beginning and it was great to hear a bit about the history of the engine! 🤗
Thank you very much, I enjoyed making it and appreciate that you enjoyed the history part of this video 😊
Nice 'overhaul' !
Wonderful restoration, thanks for sharing.
Thank you Ron 😊
Excellent refurbishment. It looks really nice and the cab detail is great. Who doesn't love an 0-6-0 tender loco. Your cat Groot is either envious of the attention lavished on it, or telling you he likes it, I can't quite tell 😊
Thanks I enjoyed doing it 😊
Fantastic work Tris! Very interesting!
Great video. I intend to install sound in my Collett Goods and I like the way you did it. Cheers Bill
Tris, all your hard and skillful work was well worth it, this came out beautifully!!!
Thank you very much Richard!
Hello, excellent job! Please keep uploading such videos, restoring or constructing from scratch steam locomotives!
One observation only from me, if you would like, you could try a more crushed coal load. I have apply it on my 5 steam locomotives and it looks much better!
Cheers,
Lefteris.
Great work there Tris, The loco looks the part now 😀.
Cheers and Merry Christmas from down under, Wally
Dude real nice job it looks like it just came out of the box but better
Nicely done ✔️ 👏
Superb job.
Love how this Dean Goods turned out, i'd personally love to have this little gem in my collection. I must say I am jealous of you lot in the UK, I live in the US and am a UK modeller myself, and it's just impossible to get the proper paints here. Can't even import the paints from Railmatch, so best I can do is mix different paints together and go by eye with an RTR model as reference.
That is incredible. It looks official! Great job!
Thank you very much 😊
Nice work.
Great work Tris, it's come up beautifully.
I bought a part finished SE finecast Crab loco years ago that's still sitting in a drawer somewhere.
I'd better get my act together and fix it up.
Cheers!
Thank you very much I hope you find the time to do yours
Great restoration ,I like the stormy sky effect at the end looks like it’s going to thunder anytime ,many a time caught out in a storm watching trains as a young boy on the western region ,all the best
Thank you I enjoyed taking that picture
Nic video Tris. It's always fun to restore and detail older locomotives and even rolling stock as it gives the model a new lease of life. Great job mate. - Nicholas.
Thank you Nicholas, I hope you are keeping well
Great to see you work on the Dean Goods. You have done an excellent job and looks fantastic. Well done.
Thank you Duncan!
Hi Tris.
That was a great project and very nicely done. I would however be a little less reliant on the quick and easy use of super glue as it may not be as great as its name suggests at times. Don't know if you have watched any of my latest videos but the Night Owl one explains what may happen.
Cheers Rob.
Thank you Robin, maybe next time I’ll use some epoxy 😊
Nice job... 👍
cool vid of you do a nice model on the channel thanks lee
Nice
What a transformation sir - really top work 👌👌👌
Thank you very much
Nice restoration.

I do not remember K's producing the Dean Goods, but I restored and rebuilt for EM gauge a K's body of a LNER J51 that I did not know K's had ever done. maybe this kit was not K's, but Wills?
Excellent result Tris… but cyanoacrylate and white metal is not a long term thing !
With your skill set mate add low temp soldering to the list. It’s the only permanent bond for white metal kits.
It’s so cool to see it go from start to finish this makes me want to get a model kit
You did a great job on the white metal Dean good tris if there's any advice you can give to someone who wants to to do the same to another kit what would u say :)
I like restoring models too, it can be risky though. Shame that the loco wasn't soldered originally, but all's well that ends well. Great video, thanks for sharing 👍😊
Ive got a cast Smoke Box Dart on an O gauge loco to par off too. They really set the "face" of a loco if a seperate casting is fitted etc😉😊👍
I've some of the Vellejo primers, how did you find it stuck to white-metal? I've had to remove oxidisation then prime with an etch primer. In the past, previous versions of Games Workshop "Chaos Black" would adhere well to cleaned white-metal, but the formula was changed and it won't work as well these days.
I found it stuck but I washed the model first and did quite a few thin coats and let it go fully hard. I was conscious of the primer not sticking but got through it ok.
@@OONeal Thanks 😊👍 A nice model ensued too, well done. Brass and white-metal, oh and aluminium, can be a real challenge to paint. I admire your CAD abilities, I should learn but each day that passes, I fall out of love with computers (after thirty five years working with them)😳🙄👍😉
Which Airbrush do you use?
Hi Tris, would you recommend superglue instead of Araldite if you were building one of those kits from scratch, regards Jon.
I wouldn't. Super glue dries hard and very brittle and in despite its name really isn't that super when it comes to bonding performance with solid non porous surfaces. It is better for soft porous materials hence will stick your fingers together very well. I have recently purchased a model that was "professionally" repaired with the stuff and didn't go to well, ended up having to repair it again myself.
@@RobA500 Do you know if the glue that you cure with a light pen is any good with white metal? I bought some to experiment with generally, but haven't actually used it yet...
@@AllSortsOfStuff58 Hi, I don't have any personal experience with UV cure glues but from what I have read there are types for many purposes including bonding metal plastic and even glass, so providing you have the correct type it should form a good strong bond much better than super glue.
@@RobA500 That's my thinking... 👍
An epoxy is way better than a cyanoacrylate (CA or Superglue). Even better……. Low temp solder (70 deg C)
It’s not a difficult skill and permanent!
No better job than a salvage job 👍🏻 i did similar with an 02 not so long ago, check it out on my channel 😊
It is good fun and very satisfying. Ill check yours out
