  • Dear all, in this episode which is part of a series I start the scratch-build of a new railway viaduct and bridge river and roads crossing. Using mainly everyday household materials. UK trains and model railways with the odd class 66 thrown in too! All the best, Paul

Very good Paul. To get a 3d ish effect on one of my tunnel portals and retaining walls I cut individual bricks in card and glued them on then weathered with cheap acrylic paint dry brushed. I got my idea from john Warner. He did a viaduct on his CZcams channel Piccadilly sidings by John Warner. Just an idea atb Andy

Hi Andy, many thanks for the tip mate have seen a few of Johns videos but will have a look at that and see what I can pick up. I have been doing a bit on it this afternoon too with the weather how it is today and was planning on bringing out some of the stonework at key points out with a similar method. Have also been using a bit of ash and charcoal from the log burner to get a weathered effect. Thanks again will check in on that soon. All the best mate, Paul

Hi Paul, looking forward to how this turns out. Andy’s right, John did a bridge cutting out individual bricks, it was really good but by golly it was a lot of work but worth it in the end. Cheers for now mate, John

Hi John, many thanks for watching and commenting as always mate, yes have had a look at johns now and have seen a few of his other videos, very skilful stuff. I was actually well into the weathering and stonework for my first attempt when Andy mentioned it! Know what you mean about the amount of work doing the individual brick method! Wow, think that may be a potential future upgrade after I get some of the other scenery done for now as not sure my eyes could handle it! Was thinking about putting some putty or polyfilla on it and scoring it to add some depth but will see. Johns method is certainly impressive as you say. Thanks John, appreciate the feedback mate, all the best, Paul
