  • Building a Bridge from scratch is really a lot easier than you might have thought,
The bridge is 1/76 scale and is inspired by a 2 bridges from Gloswarks Railway and severn valley railway Bewdleys. Follow the video to enjoy seeing how it went together.

Very impressive. Cutting Wills sheet is easier if you use an Olfa cutter/scriber as this actually removes the plastic from the cut rather than just pushing it to the side (which is why it gets harder the deeper you cut with a normal blade) good job on sanding the ends of the sheets to make the joints disappear too.
I like the soot you added, just about right, depending on how much traffic was going by. Check out the tunnels around Kings Cross, just completely black before all the sandblasting about 20 years ago. Period colour photos of your area are the best guide, as some branch lines hardly have any staining.
I’m looking forward to the next video😊.

That bridge really is beautiful, a work of art.
I’v used Wills sheets often in the past, and have always used them as self supporting, due to their thickness.
My very first attempt at bridge building was way back in the very early 80’s, a plywood structure, with card tiles individually glued to represent stone outlines, then Polyfiller and PVA mix dabbed onto the tiles to give a representation of individual stone faces.
It worked well, but was extremely tedious.

Dry brush some very darkcolour (whatever colour you use) into the Rock Recesses, I can see there is a bit already done but not enough to add some realistic contrast. Please do NOT take my comments as criticisms they are just my opinion. I do like what you have done and hope my comments are accepted asmy opinion but also maybe tips. I'm just building my Layout. No Track laid just about to start on some scenery, hopefully I can upload mine so that you can see I practice what I preach. T =)

Great job Tris, but don't push harder when you're cutting. The result will not be good, just do more passes the way you did in this video.
It's hard to tell on camera, but I think your soot/smoke stains are pretty much on the money.

Mate, your video presence is great. But, (and there's always a but, isn't there?) your lasagna cutting face surely has a relationship with the bridge? Both are wonderful stone examples, but would they be seen together? Would you build a bridge with stone brought in from a long way away, or would you use the stone on your doorstep? Harsh, perhaps...
