Hi there, thanks for watching and commenting and glad you are enjoying the set. It’s certainly a great looking locomotive. I hope I can help to some extent, it comes with the two standard couplings on the front and rear so that it can pull the coaches from the front coupling also, possibly on occasions when it has to use points and a passing loop to “run around” it’s coaches and then couple from the front to take them in the opposite direction. I think they provide the more realistic front couplings for if you want to just run it in the normal sense without the ability to pull coaches from the front as visually it looks more realistic however i must admit I’ve not tried taking it off. Are you able to unscrew the body from the chassis to get better access to the coupling? I’m not with the loco at the moment so it’s difficult to assist further until I can have a look at it but if you are still struggling let me know and I’ll have a look. @@UKRailsandMore hey thanks for the reply. I ended up taking a small chisel, hacking away at the normal front coupling hooks to remove them sadly. I just really like the look of the decal front nem couplings with the chain on it so I super glued it to the loco. No damages can be seen but the white traces of the super glue on the buffer beam is quite annoying to look at.

Ah, ok well it certainly looks more realistic with the prototype couplings and I’m sure a spot of black paint would do the trick with the stain. You could always combine it with some weathering if you wanted to go ultra realistic though I’d probably consider seeing if your local model shop does it or an recommend anyone if you wanted it done as I wouldn’t fancy doing it myself and the weathered look isn’t for everyone. Must confess though on this one I did experiment with the title somewhat and inadvertently upset a few 66 fans including a few drivers who I have the greatest respect for for the hurdles and competition they encounter! That said the title was a bit tongue and cheek but know what you mean! @@UKRailsandMore Many enthusiasts knock the 66's for being boring, quiet etc. They are very capable locos, albeit falling way short of a 60/70, they are basically abused, hauling loads you wouldn't expect. They are noisy in the cabs as the sound insulation isn't the best, and after an 8 hour shift, you can leave work with a banging headache! I don't mind them at all. I'm due to sign the 'new' class 69's in 2022. Should be interesting, as it's been donkey's years since I drove a 56! Should be fun. Have a happy new year.

@@railfreightdrivergallagherGBRf thats very interesting to hear your thoughts as it’s one thing to enjoy watching the things but another altogether to know what it’s like to drive them and experience what they are like day to day when operating them. Yes I have heard that said before about the 66s and must admit I appreciate seeing and hearing a lot of the locos that I grew up seeing but it’s like many things (but by no means everything!) things tend to improve with time as technology advances. Titled one of my videos “class 66 struggles...” but that was more an experiment with the popularity of the title than anything to be honest (guess maybe the speed restrictions over the points) but think they sound great and certainly distinctive and quite relaxing to hear when at idle and very impressive when they power up from a standing start. Always comes to mind when watching them it must be a fantastic spot of the country to operate from. Flew over the quarries quite a bit when hours building after the PPL and it looks impressive the way the lines are integrated into the stunning countryside. Think there are a few photos on one of the videos in fact that may be of interest. Best of luck with getting to grips with the new locos too and thanks again for your insight. All the best, Paul

Hi there, thanks for watching and the great feedback. Good question my friend but once they go around that corner they are off on their way to various locations around the network. It’s actually the other direction which is more restrictive to be honest as it just goes to another massive quarry, though there is a single track line that can return trains back to Buxton so that’s not quite a dead end either.
